Rock Hard, Love Harder #1

Protecting His Brat

Rate this book
Lacy is a brat… Good thing Scott has a firm hand and loves a good challenge.

People say I’m a brat like it’s a bad thing. According to Urban Dictionary, which is the only dictionary that really matters, a brat is someone who always gets what they want. How is that bad?

True, I didn’t want to get dumped by my BFF.
I also didn’t want to be attacked in an alley by some smelly bum.
Or have my life torn to pieces by the FBI.
Or any of the other horrible things that have happened to me lately.

I mean, I guess the guy that came to my rescue is kinda sexy. In a moody, starving artist kind of way. And moving in with him when I had no place else to go has worked out well in the bedroom… orgasmically well. If only Scott wouldn’t shut down every time I try to get to know him. Not that I care about the secrets he’s keeping or anything.

It’s not like I need someone to love me. Not at all. I just need my life, and my clothes, back. I certainly don’t want to keep this new life I’ve made in Brooklyn of all places. Obviously.

This is a new author for me by my goodness she sure knows her craft.
What an excellent book. Great storyline and yes this book is story driven, but the sex/ erotic scenes, well wow, just wow. Hot enough to start a fire so don't get this in paperback!
You'll read the other reviews that will give spoilers, well I don't.
Our main characters are so well rounded and described beautifully, their interactions intense. I loved the book being written from both their points of view. I feel being given the man's point of view gives an extra dimension be the book.
So there is some mind blowing sex here, if you are easily offended or of a delicate nature this book is not for you. However you will be missing out on a great tale, your choice!
I was given a copy of this book by voracious readers only for an honest review. I always give an honest review.

OMFG!! THIS Book!! TOTALLY recommend PROTECTING HIS BRAT!! Brandy Ayers is a New Author for me and She Had at the Very Beginning of this Book!! From the Very first chapter, I Could Not Put It in Down and devour it in ONE Sitting!!
Lacy and Scott's Story grabs you by the horns & Never let's you go! Their banter between two characters keeps you on your toes and the chemistry is OFF the Charts Hot!! Lacy is a total brat but certain events have her seeing things in a different light. And Scott has a Big Secret that blows up in his face before he has a chance to tell Lacy. Protecting His Brat is a fun, suspenseful, sexy and Entertaining all the same time!
I CANNOT WAIT TO read more from this Author!! Definitely enjoyed this book that had me laughing out loud and wanting to Throw my Tablet across the room at the Same Time!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I received an advanced reader copy. I am voluntarily leaving a review. Lacy has just lost her best friend when she is attacked on the street. Scott comes to her rescue and brings her to his apartment. Lacy's world continues to crumble when her father goes on the run and her assets are frozen alongside his. Lacy is stuck at Scott's, not knowing that he is the guitarist for a famous metal band. What follows is a fun, love story of a brat and the man that loves her, with a little intrigue on the side. A solid 4.5 star read.

Just ok.

The book starts off with the h having a bad day. Her best friend
dumped her, she had a bad blind date, was accosted on the way home, ended up with a concussion, etc. She's rescued by someone
famous but she's never heard of him.

“I don’t spread my knees for anyone with less than a high six-figure annual income and an apartment in a much better
neighborhood.”

"Being the lead guitarist in the world’s biggest metal band came
with perks after all." "Now, at 32, after 7 years of traveling and ignoring the throngs of women, I finally found what I wanted. A
stuck-up, rich brat who had no idea of my fame or wealth."

He likes her attitude, likes teaching her manners and how to be a better person. He likes that she doesn't know who he is or how rich
he is. He likes taking care of her.

Overall, the story was ok. Definitely wouldn't re-read. Had 3 epilogues, which I actually liked seeing how the main characters were in the future. There really wasn't nothing special about either of the main characters. Nothing to make me like them or become invested in their love story.

Protecting his Brat follows Lacey, a privileged, wealthy blogger and Scott, a famous rock star. Lacey is attacked and Scott rescues her from being raped and looks after her overnight. When he returns her to her apartment they find out her apartment and all her finances have been frozen due to illegal activity by her father. With nowhere to go Lacey stays at Scott’s. Due to Lacey’s love of everything to do with money and past experiences Scott lets her believe he us a struggling artist. It took me quite a while to get into this book as I hated Lacey’s character (which is kinda the point) but I had to force myself to keep reading. Fortunately Lacey does improve and the story follows their relationship.

This one is probably best read after reading The O Doctor .

Lacy started off completely shallow and fake. But Scott is never deterred. It is quite funny how she thinks him unworthy and beneath her, yet he succeeds in breaking down her walls.

My only issue was that there seemed to be a missing transition between the end of Chapter 4, in which Lacy has (once again) rebuffed Scott's attempts at providing her some emotional support, and the opening of Chapter 5, in which we are thrown right into a full blown Scott/Lacy sexual encounter. It just left me confused, wondering, "How did we get here??"

Other than that, not a bad way to spend an hour.

Awesome quick read. Lacy is a spoiled brat that thinks she’s to good for everyone. Scott is in a band that is very big but doesn’t live like that. He is coming out of a building when he sees Lacy being attack by a man who is nasty. Lacy was just trying to get home and not cause any problems. She got a bunch of problems when she tries to go home the next day. Her father is on the run and the FBI froze all of Lacy’s accounts and she couldn’t use anything or buy anything. She had to count on Scott to help her out till then. What started out as an odd thing turned into an amazing type of relationship that Lacy or Scott we’re prepared for, but they want the same thing. A life where there’s love but Scott doesn’t trust easy and that could be a deal breaker.

Fair bit of heat in this one and the chemistry between Lucy and Scott is off the charts. Lucy's character of being a spoilt brat was well written and you feel like you understand her well. Scott in my mind is more of a mystery, a member of a current and famous band (which Lucy has never heard of and is completely unaware he's famous), yet appears to have very little contact with his band members and can generally move around unrecognised. Scott rescues Lucy from an attacker, however the events immediately after the attack (as retold by Scott to Lucy) are far from what I believe would happen under such circumstances and do detract somewhat from the storyline, however as they are the backbone of how Scott and Lucy first get together it's easy to let that go. Well worth reading.

A quick read that delivers drama and plenty of steamy scenes. I did not like anything about Lacy in the beginning as she is portrayed as a typical entitled spoiled rich girl with no contribution to society. By the end of the novella, I came to see her as a fierce, determined businesswoman with a good heart. I was glad to see her differently and grow after meeting Scott. He is a reformed bad boy rock star that loves her feistiness and helps her face a reality previously unknown to her. The two together are an inferno, igniting the sheets, the counter, the sofa and every other surface they can find. They are a well-matched pair, and I enjoyed their story. I received a free copy for an honest review.

Protecting His Brat is a steamy, page turner. This book was a quick but fun, easy read. I quickly fell in love with the main characters. Lacey is used to having her way and getting what she wants. Scott has no problem dealing Lacey demanding ways. Both main characters have some serious chemistry and are great together.
Scott manages bring down the walls that Lacey built around her heart for protection. The only person she has ever let get past those walls is her best friend Marci. By the end of the book the walls come tumbling down. Lacey and Scott find their HEA together.
I am wanting to read the other books in this series.

So I'm not going to rate this officially, but if I did, it would be around a 2.75. I just didn't like or connect with Lacy and Scott would have spanked me endlessly with how many times I rolled my eyes at her. Additionally, there were some grammar mistakes that really pulled me out of the story because my background is in print journalism and I just can't turn that part of my brain off.

I did really enjoy Scott and the music stuff and think this is a great book for someone who likes to be a bit of a brat him/herself... And the spice? HOT. I'll definitely be passing this one along to my girlfriends at book club.

This is my first book by Brandy Ayers and I'm in love with it. In The span of a day Lacey's life has become a series of unfortunate events. First, her best friend dumps her and tells her she's ugly (on the inside), then she gets attacked. Luckily her savior comes in the form of Scott. But soon she'll find out that the terrorist things are small to what comes next. I loved these tw. Yes Lacey is spoiled but she grows into quite the woman she was meant to be. I highly recommend this book to everyone.

I wasn’t sure what to expect with this new-to-me author, but I definitely enjoyed Lacy and Scott’s story. I despised Lacy at first, since she appeared to be your typical shallow, party-girl socialite, but she showed her true colors soon enough and quickly changed my mind. She and Scott were perfectly matched and their Alex Riley-esque insta-lust-leading-to-love connection was entertaining and made for a fast and easy read. I’d definitely read more from this author.

Really quick fairly short little novella that does not skimp on heat! This was a really sweet new to me author that was a great little intro, small enough to read in one quick sit through but it had plenty of witty banter, intriguing side stories, and smoking hot sex, this book had everything I look for. Lacey and Scott had amazing chemistry and I really fell in love with their love, it kept me engaged turning the pages to the very end and I can't wait for the next one!

I absolutely loved reading every second of this book. This author had me from the first sentence. Lacy is a handful but Scott can handle her any day, any time. I always read books where the female leads are always so nice, however I loved how Lacy was a brat from the very start. It made the book more interesting and had me laughing at times. This book was simply amazing. Highly recommended.

A quick enjoyable read that was fun and flirty!! Lacy and Scott meet in not so good circumstances and their connection is instant. Scott loves Lacy's smart, sassy mouth and Lacy is learning to like Scott. A great read with 3 epilogues!!

perfect HEA

Scott and Lacy’s story was perfect in that it brought 2 people together at a time when they needed a friend. Their love for each other progressed in the most believable way, just like in a movie. Absolutely loved this story and can’t wait for more.

The heroine was highly unlikeable yet the hero loved her from the beginning. That's nice and all, and the author adds dimension to the heroine's bratty personality, but I still found her really annoying and frustrating.
