David Driver isn't the only one buried in his grave. Kay's friend Olive has a family feud on her hands over who should have inherited the only remaining plot in their family section of the cemetery. When a cousin finally gives in and agrees to relocate her son's casket the cemetery staff discover there's an extra body in the plot. Was the mysterious woman murdered by an ex-boyfriend? A family member seeking revenge? Was David's grave just a convenient spot to dispose of a body, or were the two connected in some way? When Olive asks for her help in solving the mystery Kay jumps in to assist, and in her quest to find the killer uncovers some long buried family secrets.
Another great read. A wonderful plot with great characters that pull you in. When one of her friend's uncle passes there is a row resulting in an agreement to move the current occupant of a grave to another so that the uncle can be buried in the family plot. However when a body of a young woman is found on top of the coffin things take on a dark hue. Now she can't stop thinking about 6and with the young woman's ghost visiting her she feels even more strongly that she has too look into it. Meanwhile things are a bit shaky on the money front. She desperately needs a dishwasher but hasn't the funds. The Judge offers to lend her the money but she's too proud to accept. Will she find the link between the young woman and the man in the grave? Was it drug related? Who had the means to hide the body there and the motive? Will she get a new appliance?
A great cozy mystery series set in a small town with the main characters being Kay, a widow who has let some rooms in her house to a Judge and his 2 children whilst he's going through a divorce.
As well as working for a bail agent, Kay has a knack for finding dead bodies and seeing their ghosts, who implore her to bring their murderer to justice.
There are many other characters in the books abs this book sees Olive, Kay's friend and psychic involved as a family feud literally unearths a mystery, when her Cousins body is exhumed, to be moved to another plot, and in the process of doing this, a second body is found!
Of course, Kay investigates to find the killer of the second body, and who knows, they could have had something to do with the first death too.
Really good cozy mysteries which I cannot seem to put down. Each one a standalone story but to appreciate the whole bigger picture, the books are best read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters.
A Grave Situation (Locust Point Mystery Book 7)— Libby Howard/Narrator: Margaret Storm (22 chapters) April 13-14, 2022
On this story, while Kay becomes a little closer with the Judge over Halloween, a murder from the past is revealed when Kay assists a friend who needs to unbury her son and rebury him elsewhere.
The ghost of the dead comes to help, but only until the very end is helpful.
As J.T. and Daisy are off on a vacation, it is up to Kay to solve the mystery, with help from Olive. The Judge stays pretty clear out of this one.
The good, quick read that I thoroughly enjoyed. So glad this cozy hasn’t jumped the shark yet.
I am enjoying this series. You do learn interesting details about things you aren’t likely to be aware of. Who knew that coffins had a cement case or grave lining to keep the ground level after internment? You always know the killer has been someone in the story but the tale is told in such a way where it’s not always obvious.
I love these books, the characters and storylines are interesting. Definitely worth reading and following the series. Being of a certain age I can relate to Kay.
I enjoyed reading this book to the point where I didn't want to put it down (knowing I had more important things to take care of). It was well written, kept my interest, and I plan to read more of the Locust Point Mystery series.
Ms. Howard Never Disappoints And Her Cat Taco Never Does Seem To Lose Any Weight. If You Are Looking For A Fast And Fun Mystery Series This Is For You!!
I have been reading this series and I have enjoyed all the books. I look forward to the next in the series before I've completed the one I am currently reading. The writing, plot and characters are all the best!
Margaret Strom does a wonderful job narrating this story about Kay and her friends plus ghosts. The is a very tragic story about the death of David Driver but there is a woman on top of his casket in the grave, Kay and friends go looking for clues and there are a lot of surprises.
This is a good mystery: interesting characters and I learned things in reading it. I would recommend this whole series, most of which I have read this week.
Obsession is such an unhealthy and extreme emotion!! Each book is just so good in the series I really like the storylines and the characters and subject matter!
Well written, well narrated, touching and entertaining audiobook. So pleased to find more of these cozy mysteries on Hoopla, and available in audio format.
