To be clear, this is a short fiction ANTHOLOGY for Giovanni and Beatrice. It includes a previously published novella (Lost Letters and Christmas Lights), as well as new fiction (Finding Richard, Desires of the Heart) and a few shorts that used to be on my website. So this is NOT a brand new novel, but it is new fiction that gives you a peek into the future of your favorite vampires.

4.5 ★

What better time to see more snippets of Beatrice & Gio then in a Christmas novella.

I love these two so much and it is always a joy to revisit them. Here it was no different.

A Not-So-Special Night 4 ★

Snippet 1 of the anthology and it’s how Gio takes the time to make Valentine’s Day. There is banter and there are tender moments and the time between Beatrice coming into her own were mentioned and how much Gio really did hold back and the amount of wine that he drunk. Lol. Short, sweet and sexy.

Merry Christmas, Tenzin 5 ★

Snippet 2 of the anthology. How Ben gets Tenzin to celebrate Christmas with Beatrice, Gio and himself. I love Ben & Tiny together. I love Tenzin she is my all time favourite character and shines every single time. Here it is no different.

“Scrooge.” “If you are referring to the literary character, I do no think that the apt.” Ben sat down the sports section and rolled his eyes. “I was referring to the popular concept of someone who refuses to celebrate a holiday.” “For the last time I am not Christian. This is a holiday to celebrate the incarnation of the Christian god and his human journey.”

Lost Letters and Christmas Lights 4 ★

This is a short, sweet yet sexy Christmas read with two romances in one. One takes place in the here and now between Serafina and Zeno who have been corresponding with one another for years and yet they finally meet and fall in love. And the other is of a mystery to solve of a manual on winemaking.

I really enjoyed this. It is fleshed out and an excellent addition to the world. I hope to see where Fina & Zeno’s journey goes and hope that we shall revisit them when she has made her decision to turn.

Finding Richard 4 ★ for Gavin, Ben & the gang but not really for Richard.

Desires of the Heart 5 ★

This is my favorite one and well I want to keep it vague so just read.

Ms. Hunter is a fantastic writer and woes me every single time with her awesomeness.

I was lucky to see an early view of this book for a fair and honest review.
This is a lovely little mix of short stories with a holiday feel, all set in the Elemental world. All of them feature Beatrice and Giovanni, and there is quite a time span between them. Some of the stories have been published before, but it's nice to have them all in one place, with the addition of two brand new pieces.
If you have read all of the larger Elemental books then you will easily be able to slot each of these little gems into the timeline. But even if you'd never read any of this series before, I don't think you would struggle to understand what was going on, and would still enjoy the read.
Mascara warning for the last one though.
Oh and Benzin. If you're a fan of the Benzin tension (I've decided to call it Bension) then you'll love the new material.

Heartwarming, Cozy and Fun
This anthology takes us back into Hunter's Elemental world and we get to visit some of our favorite charters. Tenzin, Ben, Gio, Beatrice, Gavin and Chloe are all here. Elizabeth Hunter has the ability to write serious story with subtle humor, grace, and warmth. Some of the stories are light and fun also. This is a nice anthology that let me sink my toes into the Elemental sand, and relax back into this wonderful world for a few hours.

This review was originally posted on Books of My Heart

Review copy was received from Author. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

I was surprised with this anthology of novellas in the Elemental World series .  It's a fun and brilliantly placed group of stories. It begins with Lost Letters and Christmas Lights.  This was the last published novella in the series as part of All the Stars Look Down (2014) which also had a Grace Draven story.  It's a perfect start in a familiar place where the series last visited Gio and B.  I enjoyed recalling their personalities and style, along with a fun Christmas story with Zeno and Fina in Italy.

Finding Richard is next. This took us back to New York with Ben and Tenzin, Chloe and Gavin, which is exactly what I needed to prepare for the next book, The Blood Apprentice, which is next in the Elemental Legacy series , featuring Ben and Tenzin. Giovanni and Beatrice are also here since they started with Richard, long ago. I loved the way a smart solution was found to help everyone and who suggested it.

Desires of the Heart is a very personal story for Gio and B.  A few years have passed since the end of their series, and now we get a closer look into their world and plans. Their desires were very realistic to me. I cried over this emotional journey. It ends at Christmas.

There is a preview of Blood Apprentice at the end. The Stars Afire is an enjoyable read, fitting for Christmas and ties things together beautifully to bring us up-to-date.

4 stars!

This is a great collection for Elemental Mysteries fans. A collection of shorts and novellas featuring Giovanni Vechio and Beatrice de Novo – and some of their friends - giving us a chance to catch up with them living out their very happy and loved-up lives together.

A Not-So-Special Night (previously published)
A super swoony glimpse into Gio and Beatrice together on Valentine’s Day.

Merry Christmas, Tenzin (previously published)
A short scene with Tenzin and Ben (and Gio and Beatrice) in the lead up to Christmas.

Lost Letters and Christmas Lights
Gio and Beatrice travel to Rome to investigate a series of letters related to their research. While there, they meet up with the curator of Gio’s personal library in Perugia, and when the quiet human librarian is given the opportunity to travel with the two vampires to Rome with her son for Christmas, she cannot resist. Especially when their travels will take her to meet up with a vampire librarian from the Vatican that she has been exchanging correspondence with for two years – broody and mysterious, Zano.

There is a really sweet, fast-moving romance, intermingled with moments of sweetness and swoon between Gio and Beatrice as the four of them investigate a centuries-old mystery of two star-crossed lovers finding their way to each other. There’s love and happy endings all around!

Finding Richard
This is a fun little novella as Giovanni is called in to deal with an interesting problem. A vampire by the name of Richard was turned against his will when he was on the cusp of acting greatness in the 1800s. Born to perform, Richard has popped up all over the world performing his art and seeking the adoration of the crowds… not exactly the kind of behaviour that keeps the existence of the vampire race a secret. Somehow, Gio ended up responsible for the unthinking immortal, and when he appears once again in an off-Broadway play that is starting to gain attention, it’s up to Gio to take care of the problem.

I really liked this little story. It’s lighter with some funny little moments with Ben, Tenzin, Gavin, Chloe, and of course Gio and Beatrice. And Richard himself is hilariously dramatic.

“It’s frankly a miracle I haven’t killed you yet. Not that I haven’t been tempted, Richard.”
Beatrice made a face. “I’m kind of tempted to be honest.”
“I’m not,” Tenzin piped up. “I like you, Richard.”
“Thank you, Tenzin!”
“But I wouldn’t blame Giovanni for killing you if he wanted to. You’re a pain in the ass.”

It’s a quick read with a fun setup that made me smile.

Desires of the Heart
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! This little novella stole my heart as Gio and Beatrice travel back to Italy with the future of their family on their minds. Without giving too much away, this was everything I wanted without knowing that I wanted it. A beautifully written little story that complements Gio and Beatrice’s journey so far, with a possible glimpse into the future of the series. I loved that we got to see this very special moment, and I look forward to seeing more of this particular storyline going forward.

This anthology is a must-read for fans of the series. I loved it!

The perfect holiday read.
The Stars Afire was everything I would have hoped for with an Anthology. The first two stories were short and sweet. I just loved being taken back to a time in the past and seeing just how much my eyes have opened up to the dynamics of the different relationships in the Elemental World.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading the next three. One made me wish I could visit Rome at Christmas time and see the magic and love there. The next made me laugh as I could clearly envision this new character and his traits so clearly. The last one made me jump up and down and clench my hands to my heart and let out a big sigh.
You do not want to miss The Stars Afire, the last story alone will melt your heart and make it all worth it.

The Elemental world has always been a favourite of mine, and going back to read about Giovanni and Beatrice was like visiting old friends for a catch-up. We also get to see Ben and Tenzin whom I adore. Some of these stories have been put out before and I remembered enjoying them and I love them all together in this anthology.
The new stories are so good and was blown away by some parts of, Desires of the heart as I have to be honest it had me tearing up. It’s so beautifully written like everything Elizabeth Hunter writes.
This is a touching, seasonal read that will give you a full heart and give you Christmas spirit for the upcoming festivities this year and future years.
I was very lucky to get early copy of this book but will definitely be reading it again over Christmas.

I was given the opportunity to read an early copy.

A book full of so many feels! It was so good to read more adventures with Beatrice and Gio. I hadn‘t realized in the midst of all the other great stories that Elizabeth Hunter has been producing, how much I missed the 2 characters that made me fall in love with her writing.

The stories are based in the Christmas season and I felt like I was right there with them. I love how Elizabeth Hunter describes the surroundings in such a vivid way that I often feel like i have in fact visited these places. I don‘t want to give anything away - there is so much to these stories that I was not expecting at all (you are going to love the exciting developments in this world).

If you read one book this Holiday Season, make it this one!

This collection of shorts felt just like coming home for the holidays. Full of warmth and light, family, and friends old and new, this collection made me feel all the wonder, joy, and love of the season. I got to fall in love with Gio and Beatrice again (my favorites!!) and had the pleasure of seeing their next phase of life. Ben and Tenzin are their usual adorable selves. Gavin and Chloe are making headway and, of course I got to reread Zeno and Fina's story! It's the perfect book to curl up with on a chilly day with a cup of cocoa with nothing but getting into the spirit on your mind!

I received an advanced copy of this anthology and voluntarily chose to post a review.

When we left Giovanni and Beatrice at the end of the fourth book in the Elemental Mysteries series, they were ready for a quiet, settled life. But with eternity stretching before them, that certainly wasn’t the end of their story! Everything in this anthology was new and magical for me, but some contents previously published or posted elsewhere will not be new to Elizabeth Hunter’s longer-term fans.

The stories revolve around Gio and Bea with many of the familiar characters among their family and friends making an appearance or earning at least a mention. Each of these tales was a sweet, quick read and an important addition to your elemental collection. I liked that Tenzin provided humor and lightness that offset some of the deeper emotions evoked while I read. Desires of the Heart especially packed an emotional punch that brought me to tears with its timely subject matter. Although each story stands on its own, I suggest reading them in order because they are arranged in the book chronologically.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book with no expectation of a positive review.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book - to be fair, I don’t think I’ve disliked any of Elizabeth Hunters stories so far. What I enjoyed most was getting immersed in Bea and Gino’s lives again. Time has moved on and to see their bond deepening and developing is really lovely. One of my favourite parts though was early on in the book when Zeno and Fina read the series of letters back and forth between them whilst in the Vatican library. It is beautifully well done and I was enthralled by them both “For what is an ocean against eternity” really struck me and for the first time in the 8yrs of owning a kindle I highlighted something :) I hope to read more about these two in the future.

The final story from Bea and Gio really had my heart soaring. I sincerely hope this becomes part of a book in the future. I don’t think I can handle never knowing how that all pans out.

The little dustings of Ben and Tenzin are always delightful and finishing this book with a sneak peek of their next adventures was a great way to close it.

I was provided an early copy to review -
This was a lovely Holiday read. We get to reconnect with our vampire family, Gio & B, Tenzin, Ben, Fina, Enzo and Zeno. This anthology was the perfect start to the holiday season. Amazing how rereading some of these previously published stories brought back A LOT of laughter. Poor B, having to wait until January for gifts! The HORROR!! LOL
I laughed reading the two new stories, and to be honest - I cried...I CRIED A LOT, but it was the good kind of crying that a gifted author like Elizabeth Hunter brings to her readers. Emotional rides, with true spirit and heart - it is the one of her greatest talents as an author. I highly recommend you get yourself a mug of hot chocolate, a cozy blanket, and this book - it will be your magic holiday read.

This is a beautifully written collection of short stories and novellas in the amazing world of the Elemental Mysteries. Giovanni, Beatrice, Ben, Tenzin...their stories will grab at your heart and never let go. And you will happily give your heart to all these characters because they are so deserving. The love that these characters show for each other is so real, the emotions so strong, the concern so deep that you will feel it to your very bones. The dialogue is always sharp and clever, sprinkled with good natured humor and wit. With the tremendous power that comes with being Immortal Vampires, these stories set the bar very high for paranormal literature and is met by very few other authors in this genre. If you’re not already familiar with Elizabeth Hunter’s world, run, don’t walk, into this book. You will never want to leave.

4.5/5
This was a lovely re-read of previously published short stories, plus three new ones which I've really enjoyed! Elizabeth also threw in a sneak peak of Blood Apprentice in the end (a new Ben and Tenzin book which comes out soon), and oh boy, it wet my appetite! *grins*

A NOT-SO-SPECIAL NIGHT is a touching Valentine's Day celebration between Gio and Beatrice while Ben was still a teenager and dated Chloe. Super quick and heart-melting story.

MERRY CHRISTMAS, TENZIN was featured on the blog eons ago and you could see the hints of future attraction between Ben and Tenzin even then, considering how much they teased each other.

LOST LETTERS AND CHRISTMAS LIGHTS is gorgeous and has already been reviewed here.

FINDING RICHARD was tons of fun! It's a short about a vampire actor who loves his limelight a bit too much and who can't stop exposing himself to the world thus being Gio's personal headache. There is a solution here, and the person who comes up with it is very unexpected.

Finally, DESIRES OF THE HEART really touched me. It's a sweet story about an adoption of a traumatized Syrian baby girl, and now that Ben is all grown up, I can't wait to read about her future antics growing up with Gio and Beatrice.

Overall, sweet and easy read. A perfect holiday anthology. As usual, Elizabeth's writing is growing from strength to strength. Recommended.

* * *

Это сборник ранее изданных повестей от Элизабет Хантер, плюс три новые истории, которые я читала и перечитывала с большим удовольствием.

A NOT-SO-SPECIAL NIGHT показывает как Джио и Беатрис празднуют День Святого Валентина, пока Бен еще подросток. Мило и трогательно, да так, что сердце прям тает.

MERRY CHRISTMAS, TENZIN годы назад была выставлена на этом блоге, и уже тогда было видно начало искорок между Тензин и молодым Беном. А, ностальгия!

LOST LETTERS AND CHRISTMAS LIGHTS

Welcome back Gio and B!

How absolutely wonderful to be back with Giovanni and Beatrice! These 2 are some of my favorite literary characters and my heart loves being back in their lives! Another 5 star read from Elizabeth Hunter and one I will be proud to share and read again.

Lost Letters and Christmas Lights is a beautiful love story! Fina and Zeno are adorable and, as a single mother, every one of Fina's thoughts are completely relatable. Plus, who doesn't love Rome at Christmas?!

Finding Richard showed a side of Giovanni that I hadn't expected. Always love having Gavin pop into a story, he's so fun!!

Desires of the Heart... I cannot find the perfect words to describe how beautiful this story was. What a perfect story for Gio and B that fits so beautifully in the current situation of our world. Another example of how Gio always keeps his promises.

You know the best thing about revisiting characters from a familar and loved series?

It's kind of like putting on your favorite pair of jeans (or yoga pants). It's comfortable & familiar and when it's over you feel great!!

These short stories set in the Elemental & Elemental Legacy world, are definitely worth the read. We get to revisit Gio & Bea, Tenzin & Ben and others. They are full of laughter, a few tears, and loads of love.

Any day I can spend with some of my favorite fictional characters is a great one!! As always looking forward to more from Ms. Hunter.

I don't usually like short stories so much, but I loved these ones. I don't know how she did it, but with each story i found myself laughing, smiling, tearing up, and sometimes even snort laughing. I didn't expect to get such a range of emotion from short stories, but these were great. I loved going back and visiting with some of my favorites.
Don't pass this book up!

I was so pleased to get an ARC of this book. Giovanni and Beatrice will always be my top favorite ship and I will NEVER get enough of them!!! You hear me EH?! Never!
I feel soooo lucky that we got another treat of seeing them together at Christmas. This book contains a couple of different stories, one already released in another book but it was just as good the second time reading through. Getting to see different people who are all part of Gio and B’s lives (or under their aegis) is always a bonus.
There were lots of moments spent with so many beloved characters and introductions to a couple of new ones in the other short stories. For those fans of Tenzin, Ben, Chloe and Gavin, you’ll get a good peek at them to tide you over until their next book. I loved seeing how B and Gio fit into the group when they were all together!
And as far as the last story,(and I’m orupisely trying to be vague here) I have to give Elizabeth the praise she has so well earned. I didn’t know I could have my heart full of every emotion at the same time once again when it comes to Gio and B’s story. They’ve already lived so much! Yet, It’s far from over, that I promise you. They are immortal after all. I was sobbing, my heart hurt in my chest and then it was so, so full. I want more Benzin, trust me there, but I think my heart wants more of THAT story almost as much! Keep writing. Please, whatever you do. Keep writing!

Fans of Elizabeth Hunter will definitely enjoy this treat that will be out in a few days and certainly in time for Christmas, Channukah or any holiday excuse you need to get it! Several new (to me at least and I think I keep up pretty well) short stories in the Elemental Universe with all of my favorite characters including Bea and Geo. And Ben and Tenzin. Do any of you need a better reason to read this? I think not. Treat a friend or fellow book lover to this one.

I can’t wait for the Blood Apprentice. I would love to see more of Gio & B in the future. Their life is going to be turned upside down now ❤️.

A collection of short stories from the Elemental World series. There are some new stories and some stories that were previously published. They all have a little Christmas holiday theme to them. I was okay with the older stories since it was a number of years since I read them and I couldn't remember how they turned out. If you are invested in the Elemental World books, then you will love this book too.

I'm not going to spoil anything but the last story is going to make so many people want to cry in a good way. I'm super excited what the future has in store for our favorite vampire mates :) I can't wait for the next Benzin story, more Benzin is always a plus in my thinking. So excited for the future for the elementals. Elizabeth, your worlds are so alive with your characters, I'm so glad I started reading your books. Please NEVER stop writing. Happy Holidays :)

I was lucky to receive an ARC of The Stars Afire. The first series I read by Elizabeth Hunter was The Elemental Mysteries, I fell in love with the characters and the amazing world she created. In this anthology we get a glimpse into their lives, what they’re up to. There were a few surprises in there which made want to know more. I love the way Elizabeth’s writing always makes me want to read more.
I recommend this book to all “Hunters” out there and if you’re not one of us yet, you should be!
Also, there is a sneak peek of “Blood Apprentice” and… I can’t wait for it to come out! :D
