It was a thinly veiled mystery in the beginning, a contract relationship in the middle and a happily ever after in the end. If it wasn't for the initial and seemingly forced mystery slash confusion of identical twins, I would have liked it better.

I think this book would be an excellent resource for a dissertation analyzing the role of misogyny against Indian women in romance novels and films. I knew the romanticization of abuse was bad based on what people have told me but reading it was something else.

Don’t get me wrong, misogyny is very pervasive in many romance novels but the MMC in this book is actively abusive “pushed me onto the couch”, “raised his voice”, “demanded this/that/etc.” “Ashwin lashed out.” “I [Ashwin] punched the wall.” “It made me want to throw the glass against the wall.” “Holding her arms in a bruising grip.” “To her credit, Dia simply nodded and didn’t contradict me.” This is abuse, plain and simple. He controls her, orders her around, destroys her boundaries, etc. If any of my friends told me they were seeing a guy like this, I’d offer them a way out. There are numerous instances of slut shaming and victim blaming both towards the FMC and her sister.

All in all, I’m tired of this, grandpa.

This billionaire romance story is incredible and the story line was remarkable from beginning to end. The characters are amazingly put together and made the book very enjoyable. This was the first time I had heard of Dee James and wow what a great author they are.

I love reading diverse romance novels especially set in South Asia as I am from a south Asian background but this novel while it was sweet and had some spice , it didn’t come alive for me in quite the same way. I think the main issue I had is it’s a marriage of convenience but there are no reasons why it can’t be a real marriage aside from the fact that he is just stubborn as hell and doesn’t wanna admit that he’d like to date her/ court her.

Both came from the same culture, with very conservative families. Parents in today's time still believe in the old ways. But CIA was determined to do things her way so she could find her sister. He wanted a contract wife so his mother would stop trying to set him up with a potential wife. Love came easily for both of them, but each didn't know because of the lack of communication.

I read a lot of Indian romance. I like this one because they did what they wanted and not their parents' way.
