Heather McClain has a secret. As she goes about her daily life of teaching dance to the young ladies of Bagley, Texas, she worries about what will happen if people find out. While Michael Muir is visiting Texas to buy a bull for his ranch, he stops for lunch and his entire world changes. When he spots Heather in the same line he’s in, he knows he wants to spend the rest of his life with her. Will he be able to convince her to alter the entire course of her life by moving to Idaho with him? Or will they have to pine for each other from afar?

Return to a time of big hair, the baby steps of the internet and the discovery of *gasp* the first cell phones in the Seven Sisters series. For those of us who lived through the ’80’s this was a very fun look back at what we “thought” was the height of fashion and gadgets… little did we know what was coming. There is also a very sweet connection to the McClain’s series of Seven Sons… if you’ve read that series then you’ll know immediately what that connection is – if you haven’t read it, then what are you waiting for? *grin*
The seven McClain sisters each has a very unique ability that they all keep very, very secret. But Heather’s comes in very handy personally when she sees a stranger in line for tacos. And begins a whirlwind of a romance, a knowing that this is right for her — and some serious considerations because Micheal lives in Idaho and she lives in Texas. He has an ancestral ranch and family that he cannot leave, she has a new business and family that she doesn’t want to leave. Someone has to bend in order for them to be together as they each feel certain they were meant to be… but who gives up so much for love?
I enjoyed Heather very much, it’s a great kick-off for this new series. I loved going back to the ’80’s again, such memories. Michael and Heather flow together naturally, and they simply feel “right” together from the start. The only real angst is how they can be together when living so far apart when they met. Whether you’ve read the Seven Sons series or not, you’ll have a blast with this series.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
Heather is book one in the seven sisters series. This story is short, fast paced and a nice read. I read this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters likeable and the storyline entertaining. I will admit, I was a little confused during the first few chapters. I wasn’t sure if the story was set in a different time or if the town was a town that didn’t have much of the modern day technology so that when they did get something new, it was a new thing to them. < Reading that part back sounds stupid but that was my thought process. It soon became clear that the story was set in the 80’s. I did see some chemistry between Heather and Michael. It wasn’t a huge amount but it wasn’t lacking either. I liked Heather and Michael together. I will admit that there were times that Michael irritated me. He just assumed Heather would move to Idaho to be with him. I understood his reasons but at the same time, Heather had commitments and family in Texas that she didn’t want to leave. I really liked that it worked out for them in the end. They chose to pursue their love and not give up. Without giving too much away; I really liked the moment Heather told her sisters about her secret. I also liked the secret she had and thought it was a pretty cool thing to be able to do. The storyline for this book is easy to follow and it is a nice read. I cannot wait for more books from this series; I need the next one now!
This book was okay. It had a good story, I just didn’t feel like it was well executed. I feel like it had all of the main plot points but was missing the build up to each of those points. It felt rushed. I didn’t have time to like the main couple and cheer them on hoping their relationship would work out! They met and about a page later were already talking marriage and moving across the country (which I should note-moving from Texas to Idaho is not across the country). I also think it didn’t really explain the whole magical powers that the girls got very well. It seemed to be just kind of thrown in there when it would’ve been better if the idea was explored more. Overall it just felt rushed and poorly executed. It was okay, but not enjoyable.

I really enjoyed reading the book! This delightful story, is a great start to the Seven Sisters series. Set in the eighties, Heather & her six sisters were asked to come to the family home, by their Dad. He was showing them the gadgets he is working on, when there is a power surge. All of a sudden Heather starting feeling strange. She noticed people's aura. Grabbing lunch, she noticed the person in front her had the perfect aura. Michael felt something too. He knew he couldn't walk away from Heather, without getting to know her. I loved everything about this story!!!
Taco stand a man she was drawn to, like never before, but had to hurry to teach her class. The man is staring at her he wants a date, Saturday there is a fund raiser meet me here at noon, and we can go out together. Her mind was on Michael Muir that afternoon. He was there to buy a bull, for his ranch in Idaho. One dance, one kiss and she was falling in love. At her door he asked what are we going to do. Could they make forever a reality. A delightful story about love coming in an instant for them. Looking forward to the other sisters stories.
What an incredible start to a new series. With this book we get to meet more of the McClain family, this time it is their female cousins. The series starts out with the oldest sister Heather finding her one and only. This book has it all...80’s big hair, boom boxes, microwave ovens, instalove, indecision, a bit of magic and a happily ever after. Love that we are getting more of this family.
As an avid Kirsten Osbourne fan, I was super excited to see a new series come out. I’ve run out of her books to read, so this was great.
Set in the 80s (before cell phone and WiFi), this love story is light hearted and very entertaining. I loved comments about the big hair and the technology of my younger days.
Can Heather find love and sacrifice Texas (and her family) for Idaho?
Seldom do I see a "historic" novel based in the 80's. It was in a of fun to visit a time period just before cell phones and email became the main way we connect. The Seven sisters is also a fun theme. I like seeing stories featuring people in late 2O's and early early 39's for first marriage. I'm not sure about the "special powers" but I did enjoy the book and think this can be a good series to read.
This story is set in the 80's so no email, texting, etc. Heather meets Michael and can tell he's the man for her but she lives in Texas and he lives in Idaho. She talks about Idaho like it's on another planet, far away, different and not somewhere she's willing to move. They fall in love but barely kiss and don't want to "waste" money on long distance calls when he leaves. Overall, it was ok.
This was such a good story. I loved how Heather and Michael met and knew they were meant to be together. I've read a couple of the McClain stories and it was nice to see a more modern day story of them and that the seven sons thing still happens. I look forward to reading more about the seven sisters.
Do you love the Mcclain's and the 80s? Then this book is for you! For those of us old enough to remember the 80s, this book brought back great memories of big hair and Valley Girls. For those too young, read and learn 😊.
I really enjoyed this well written happily ever after story. I am looking forward to each sisters story! I like looking for the links to other Kirsten Osbourne's other stories. 😀📑
A great quite afternoon read the characters are fun and the humor is pleasant. Finding out what powers are in this generation was interesting. Great story. Looking forward to more.
I am so happy I read this book. I love the McClain family saga and have been hoping there would be women family members Central to the contemporary universe, just as there was back in the historical series. Thanks to KO for another fun, sweet romance.
What a wonderful story to begin the series and sort out the individual sisters and how each of them has changed. This is going to be an interesting series! Yeah, 7 sisters!
After reading about the men in the McClain Family, I decided to try reading about the women. It did not disappoint. Thank you Kirsten Osborne for a wonderful reading experience.
Great start to the new series. Short clean read. Heather the oldest sister of seven meets the man she is supposed to be with. Except she's a Texas girl and he lives in Idaho.
Love th e storyline and characters. Such a fun and spontaneous story. Flows very well and is a very quick read. Look forward to reading the next book in the series.
Can you imagine? Seven sisters who are close. Heather is the oldest and knows at once who her soulmate is. You will have to read to see all the characters that come to life
A great start to a new series. I love Kirsten Osborne's books. She grabs my attention from the beginning and I don't want to put the book down until finished.. I look forward to more in the series.
The visit back to the ‘80s was a little cringeworthy but worth a laugh as well. Unfortunately, the book did not grab me. The protagonists fell for each other when they first met in the line for tacos, and there was only very minor conflict from there.
This is a refreshing and heartwarming romance with charming and sassy characters that will steal your heart as they journey towards true love and forever.
I love the McClain family. This series will be a lot of fun! Heather and Michael was a great jumping off point. I'd love to hear some more of the Muir family too.
This was an enjoyable book with easy to relate to characters and a flowing story. I’d recommend this book to anyone who likes a good clean romance with a touch of magic thrown in.
