This volume is rough. It's mostly filler with some reveals thrown in. That reveal at the end genuinely left me speechless. As much as I want to sympathize with Kaori, I can't wrap my head around the terrible choices she's been making.

HOLY CRAP!!! WHAT IS EVEN HAPPENING RIGHT NOW!!!
There were a couple of HUGE bombs dropped in this volume of the series. One is one we have been waiting on for a while. The other wasn't totally unexpected, but came earlier in the series than I thought it would.
Needless to say, I am anxiously awaiting Volume 6!

Ok, while I can pretty much tell Key and Rinko are going to be the endgame, Key is still kind of a major jerk and we're more than halfway through this series. :/ Please please please don't end the way I think it might end.

Right as I thought this series was going somewhere, it goes back to the dramatic cliches that unfortunately keep dragging this down for me. It’s still as addictive as a trashy tv show and I’m gonna keep reading it, but man do I hope it goes back up.

My library finally reopened for curbside pick up! Yay! I’m so excited to be able to finish this series. Not too much progressed in this volume, but I’m glad Rinko is standing up for herself a little bit at least, even if it’s only in her internal debates - you need your friends no matter how old you get, and there’s nothing sad about that. I’m also glad the women were able to come together again after their fight. Frank conversation about the current state of their lives is necessary, but every time I think Kaori and Koyuki have decided to stop putting up with their terrible relationships, they get sucked back in. And Kaori is maybe pregnant now? So heavy.

We’re getting to see more and more into Key’s past - we knew he had been married to an older woman, and that she’d passed away. We now know she died when she was 33, and that she was his manager’s sister. I’m still not sure what their exact relationship had been. He still seems fixated on Rinko in some way, even though he said he’d never date her. But he sure paid a lot of attention when Mami mentioned Hayasaka had asked her out in the past and still talked about it. I’m not sure what’s going on with that director, but I’m curious.

I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Rinko has hit another rough patch in her love life and her mood swings (and the third marriage rush) force Kaori and Koyuki to reevaluate their own relationships again. Not to mention little disappointments that shouldn't be happening but do because Kaori and Koyuki are the 'second women' to their cheater boyfriends.

Meanwhile, we get more hints about Key's past love life. And then we end on chaotic note that could spell disaster.

The drama adds up but is still compelling and believable. Each woman is struggling with the decisions that they are making and seeing them work through things is great. We also learn more about Key's past but it wasn't too big of a surprise. This series continues to deliver well written storylines and is more mature in its delivery. A breath of fresh air right now.

Un tome où Rinko m’a encore agacée. Je trouve que c’est la seule qui fait que surplace. Elle veut changer les choses, avancer mais elle ne fait que s’apitoyer sur son sort.
A l’inverse, ses deux copines évoluent.
La fin est juste dingue, heureusement que j’ai le tome 6 sous la main.

The last chapter hit me right in the heart. Too much padding and on-the-nose dialogue means this doesn't hit the heights of volume 4, but the drama has gone from forced coincidence to realistic repercussions of our heroines' actions, which is a very welcome change.
