Isobel is free; free of that diabolical prison on the island, free of Sister Margaret; but she isn’t safe, not yet. And Jayne: Isobel had to leave Jayne behind when she fled, but Isobel swears she will be back to free Jayne. But first, the cave calls to Isobel, whispering of warnings and dire prophecies….
Isobel and Maeve return to the cavern of the druids, to investigate further, to see what else lies undiscovered at the underground site. While searching the cavern, Isobel and Maeve discover carved characters on the floor. While leaning against a wall, it opens and a swarm of death spectre beetles attack both Isobel and Maeve. Racing back to the surface, both Isobel and Maeve watch as the beetles blot out the sun while they flee their captivity from within the cave. Maeve blanches whiter than old bone and whispers… “it’s begun.”
The discovery of ancient prophecies written within the cavern send Isobel and Maeve racing back to Ryan, Rory and Paul; the small group attempts to decipher what exactly the prophecies are foretelling, and to decide if they can prevent the prophecies from occurring: to stop the world as they know it from ending.
Riveting! I couldn’t put it down! It grabbed my attention from the first sentence, and WOW what a ride! Zigging and zagging, saving and losing, loving and betraying… this book has it all! Action and adventure, magic and science, with courage and strength demonstrated by all the characters. Loved it!

Oh, how I love this series. With each new book the tale got better and better. Mrs. McMahon did such an amazing job weaving history with fantasy to create the world Isoabel and her friends live in.
I was enthralled by the final accounts of Isoabel’s adventures. They kept me on the edge my seat and wondering what the outcome was going to be. Would Isoabel be able to defeat the renegade Druid assassins, close the portal and stop doomsday from happening?

Final book in a three part series. Time travel, Celtic lore and Druids. It's an easy mindless read. Nothing profound here but it was enjoyable enough.
