I have loved each and every story in this series. Very creative, entertaining and adventurous. The heartwarming as well as heartbreaking stories will have you on the edge of your seat. I highly recommend you start at the beginning of this series and read all five of these ladies journey.
This is the fourth book in the Angel Creek Christmas Brides series and so far the one that I liked the most. The was exciting, adventurous and lots of humor. Some of Sarah's escapades had tears running down my face with laughter and there was a little sadness too. Every thing you could ask for in a story. You will really enjoy reading this book.
4th book in the series. I read all of them in order. It is best that you do. I loved each and every one. They are Christmas stories of love how 5 friends became mail order brides and what happed the month of December, their first month of marriage. Christmas is the theme in all of them. The first and last chapters are in the ladies old age and the rest is the story of finding love with their husbands and how they help the ladies find joy, love, and peace in their new lives. Sarah's story was beautiful yet kind of bittersweet as you find out she is dies right after telling her story, and this will be the last time she tells her story to the grandchildren. Her husband was a layman and there was a little bit of mystery to her story. It was well told. It is a Christmas tradition that the 5 friends meet together with their families and friends and tell the story about being 5 mail order brides. Well worth reading.
Widowed Sarah, along with her friends from Charleston, becomes a mail order bride in order to escape from her in laws. They have taken her six year old daughter from her, so she steals her back and flees. Quinn is the sheriff of Angel Creek and Sarah's new groom. Can a pampered southern belle adapt to basic living as a sheriff's wife?
A feel good, sweet story. My only problem with it was it began in 1914 before reverting back through the years to the main story, then returns to 1914 at the end. I don't like reading the outcome of a story first, it spoils it for me.
This is one sweet love story that will grab and hold your attention to the last word. Confederate widow(Sarah Caldwell) is forced to grab her child and flee with friends to Montana to marry as mail order brides to escape her ruthless inlaws who were intent on taking her daughter away from her. She knew that not only would she gamble on keeping safe and but would she find love. She found the right man in Quinn Cassidy who as sheriff not only kept her safe but loved her qnd cherished her and her daughter Becca.
This was an amazing book from start to finish, especially the finish. Sarah lived in Charleston South Carolina. The civil war had just ended and her husband had died. The parents of William, were very controlling people. They wanted to take Sarah’s daughter, Becca. She was their only heir. Sarah’s only hope was to escape their control and kidnap her own daughter. Sarah and her 4/friends became mail order brides to Angel Creek. This is where the best begins.. you will have to read this story. You won’t be disappointed.
Can a northern sheriff and a spoiled southern woman and her child, get along, right after the civil war was over?
What a wonderful story from an author new to me. This story really grabbed me and never let me go. It's just so good. A little harrowing at the end, but the rest is truly amazing. I loved this story and the hero and heroine and her little girl, made their first Christmas together wonderful. You have to get this story and the whole series. It is that good as are the stories I've read so far. Each one is special in its own way.
Sarah (Angel Creek Christmas Brides Book 4) By Peggy Mckenzie
Five stars, I like her the author..She has real feelings in her stories, they touch you deeply and they can make you cry... Sarah was not as love by her first husband, she used ad as a mail order bride as to marry her second Quinn.. He truly love her, and it shows though out the book.. She had her doubts but she turns around and it was a good ending.
I've enjoyed reading this story of adventure and romance, together with a little suspense. The woman was one of five to leave Charleston to head out to the new western America. They had all answered an ad for Mail Order Brides,, when arriving there and getting off the stage, the first thing that she had to do was meet her husband to be and then hurry to marry him be cote the Storm hit.
This is my favourite book of the series so far! Sarah and Quinn have known so much heart break, devastation and disappointment and whilst they have a slightly rocky start the love and forgiveness they find in each other is beautiful. Becca too gets her own redemption which is lovely to see but be warned whilst there are a few moments that bring a tear to your eye the final chapter had me sobbing buckets...tissues will be required!
The love story of Sarah and Quinn. Sarah has come to Angel Creek with four of her friends as a mail order bride. She on the run from her husband 's parents. His parents want her daughter. Can she keep her daughter and find love? Great story.
Peggy McKenzie takes us back to times when the west was yet to be tamed and the women were scarce in this story of a women who escapes a less than acceptable situation by becoming a mail order bride. Sarah and Quinn's story is interesting and a great way to spend your reading time. It made me appreciate what it must have been like, and appreciate what we have.
This is a very well written sweet story of good friends and true love and a somewhat surprising ending, but a very good read, I recommend reading the whole series, you won't be disappointed.
Sarah has so much betrayal in her last marriage. This is an incredible love story of starting over and struggling for the real love. Please read expecting joy and tears.
This is an OK Western romance, with mostly likable characters. It is a sweet romance, and does not contain sex scenes. There were a few editing problems, and I thought the story was a bit too unrealistic.
I did get irritated with Sarah a few times, because she shouldn't have kept so many secrets from Quinn. She should have told him why she had to leave Charleston, and what she did that might cause problems. If she had just been honest with him, and they had communicated as they should, most of their problems could have been avoided. It always bothers me when a couple has problems because of a lack of communication -- seems like the author does it just to add unnecessary angst.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
Ok so i loved this book i recommend it highly the reason i gave it 4 stars for 4 reasons. (SPOILERS) 1. It should have been longer, i wanted to know the current generation, I was sad we didn't get to meet all the kids. 2. I didn't like how at the beginning Sarah insists she isn't stupid or dumb but then the whole book is her about thinking Quinn is having an affair getting the wrong opinion ect... its like the last chapter where they clear everything up and i didn't really like that. 3. i'm not sure if i misread something but form my understanding Sarah wouldn't feel the baby kicking at 6 weeks pregnant. 4. How could she of killed Quinn off at the end? I loved him!! he was the most sweetest guy i've read about in ages!!! i absolutely cried at the end twice! as i had to skip ahead to see if he was with the family. I can't express how loveable Quinn is. I am not and will never be happy the author killed him off.
I listened to this one on audio. I did like the narrator. With this audiobook publisher, there tends to be a random sound or sets of sounds. It's hard to describe. It's not at the end of a chapter but in a chapter. Anyway. It was ok, a tiny annoying, but eh. ANYWAY. I am loving this series. I like first of all, that they all have the same cover, just with the title different. I do wish the number in the series was on it, but that is ok as well. I am just nitpicking. I love how each book starts out with the grandkids asking the grandma for their story. I myself loved listening to Grandma's stories at Christmas time. I really enjoyed this story. I thought the characters in this book were written well. The daughter I wanted to strangle. Seriously. All the whining and back talk...child. (I have had kids at school that start to act like that, all I do is look at them and they stop...but I digress) Looking forward to the next one!
Sarah had little choice but to leave Charleston with her daughter, in the dead of night. On the run from in-laws she agreed to be a mail order bride. What will her new husband Quinn think when he hears Sarah's whole story. Will the marriage be able to make it?
This is my favorite story of the Angel Creek Christmas Brides series. I loved and enjoyed reading it so much. I hope you will read their story and enjoy it as much as I did.
It was Sarah's turn to tell the story of how she came to Angel Creek. It was a tradition that Sarah and her friends told their story each year. A wonderful story of Mail order brides and their new found loves. Hard to put down.
Such a sweet romance between Sarah and Quinn. The ending of the story brought tears to my eyes! I am happy I discovered this author and look forward to reading more of her books.
When I started reading this tale, I knew I had read something of this series, but I did not recognize this author's name. I finally realized I had read "Charity" by Sylvia McDaniel, which is the first book in the series. The use of the flashback is employed well in setting the story in motion.
I have loved all three previous in the story, but this one had me hooked. I couldn't put it down and maybe because I am a mom, but I cried a few times and absolutely loved the story.
I know what you are thinking, another mail -order bride book. Well definitely not like any other. Lots of twists and turns even the unimagable. But don't take my word, read it for yourself today. You won't be disappointed.
A great story to warm the heart. Cooking lessons along with how to stay warm in the snow when you are from the South. Not a true rendition of what life would've been like back then after the Civil War but a much better happy ever after.
This was a really sweet romance. I really liked Quinn’s character and how eager he was to love his new family. They were so cute. I also liked that Becca was behaving like a true child in the book and not a perfect angel.
