Welcome to the Ballroom, Vol. 7 continues where the previous tankōbon left off and contains the next six chapters (27–32) of the on-going manga series with a bonus story: "What If We Genderswap the Leaders and Partners".
While Kaname Sengoku is away competing, Tatara Fujita and Chinatsu Hiyama are being taught by Marisa Hyōdō. Despite only being in D Rank, Fujita and Hiyama heads to Shizuoka and enter the Grand Prix there. They were surprised to see Masami Kugimiya and Tamie Idogawa, who beat them in the Novice Competition and Akira Koumoto and her partner there.
The Shizuoka Grand Prix had four events: Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, and Quickstep. However, during the Tango, Fujita had the sensation of a person with four legs. This sensation was so disturbing and disconcerting that he couldn’t dance further, which upset Hiyama to no end. Unbeknownst to them, as they already left the competition, they got full marks for their Waltz and Tango, which surprised Koumoto.
Pleading forgiveness, Marisa Hyōdō stated that she already knew about their entering a competition without her blessing. Instead, she invited them to a dance camp located in a property in Karuizawa. Travelling with them is Kugimiya and Idogawa whom he somewhat bonds with. Fujita is surprised to see his friends Kiyoharu Hyōdō (his rival), Shizuku Hanaoka (his love interest), Gaju Akagi (his sempai), and Mako Akagi (his former partner). It is here, when bonding with the boys, that he learned that the sensation that he felt during the Shizuoka Grand Prix was rather common.
This tankōbon is written and illustrated by Tomo Takeuchi. It is quite interesting to read the growth of Tatara Fujita and Chinatsu Hiyama as partners. His interactions between contemporaries around his age are also well written and it would be interesting to read how their training would progress in the next tankōbon.
All in all, Welcome to the Ballroom, Vol. 7 is a wonderful continuation to a series that seems intriguing and I cannot wait to read more.
i was soooooo into this volume (even though i don't know why sengoku is on the cover???) i loved how it was more about chiinatsu and tatara growing as a couple and as a team rather than them just rehearsing endlessly. im very interested in their dynamics, i have quite a lot of faith in the worst possible combo (btw i love hyodo a lot)
