Burning Violet

Not all scars are visible. But even the invisible ones can cut deep enough to permanently mar your soul.
I would know.
My soul has been broken for over half of my life. The ones who should’ve loved me pushed me away. And others who pretended to care for me just caused more damage. To my family, I was a constant reminder that ripped us apart. To most, I was nothing more than a pretty face. I began to doubt redemption and respect would ever be possible . . . until I met him.
He was everything I needed and everything I couldn’t allow myself to want.
But if I couldn’t outrun my past, maybe he could burn it all away.

A.P. Watson

A.P. Watson grew up in the small town of Estill Springs, Tennessee. Living in a rural area allowed her imagination to run wild, and she began making up stories in her head at a young age. Being an avid reader furthered her love for storytelling. Her favorite books to read have almost always been heavily doused in romance, but she continues to enjoy a variety of authors—from Jane Austen and Charlaine Harris to Ayn Rand and Edgar Allan Poe. Finding herself immersed in unfamiliar worlds only inspired her to put pen to paper, and eventually, her love for reading transformed her into a writer.

While her reading preferences have no limits, she tends to write stories in the realms of contemporary and paranormal romance. Her stories are the culmination of her passions, combining her love for art, history, dance, and medicine. As she grows as a writer, A.P. would like to branch out into other genres while maintaining a central romantic theme.

When she isn’t reading or writing, A.P. spends the majority of her time dancing. She has been an avid pole dancer for several years and has performed in major cities all over the South. She is constantly enraptured by the athleticism, grace, and beauty of the sport and always looks forward to choreographing her next routine. A.P. has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from East Tennessee State University, and in 2019, she obtained a Master of Science in Nursing with a Family Nurse Practitioner concentration from the same university. She has worked as a critical care nurse for over eight years and loves to incorporate her medical knowledge and experience into her writing. Her goal as an FNP is to combine her love for aesthetics and skincare by becoming certified to administer Botox and dermal fillers. She currently resides in Johnson City, Tennessee, with her adorable rescue pup, Elle.

Mais uma autora autora da qual eu não conhecia e que foi uma grata surpresa!

Eu gostei bastante deste livro. Embora o tema seja bem comum, ainda assim, penso que a autora conseguiu trazer algo a mais neste romance.

Eu adorei a Violet e o Hunter.

This was the first time reading a book from this author and I was definitely impressed. I will most likely be reading more books from this author in the future. Burning Violet was really well written and fabulous storyline. I loved every second of Hunter and Viloet’s story and definitely recommend it.💗

Burning Violet is a page-turning sweet romance. Violet ran from a horrendous past and has been in Boston and working at BB&B for about 4 years now. Hunter just moved back to Boston after an incident full of lies stole his job in Chicago and threatened to destroy his entire career. When a chance meeting at a bar the night before Hinter’s First day in the office ends after a kiss, things are rough at work once they find out Hunter is Violet, his new secretary’s boss. Hunter and Vi try to ignore their intense chemistry for the benefit of both of their careers but the heart wants what the heart wants and you can’t deny or ignore true love. ❤️

You can run from your past, but the ghosts often come with you, no matter where or how far you run. They may hide in the dark, but there there all the same. Violet left her daddy's abuse behind and moved as far as she could go. She rose above it all, worked hard and landed herself a good job at a law firm, Secretary to the new guy. The new guy with a past of his own. But his past were all lies and yet they haunted him as well, and he ran to another city to start again. They were both running, running to find something safe. A chance encounter led to an undeniable attraction ... But come to find out, he is the new guy. Her new boss. And if they want to keep their jobs, he's gonna have to keep it in his pants.

Their friendship grows, but they remain professional... Or at least they try to. He protects her while she takes care of him... They end up caring a great deal for each other. But attractions are like magnets. They might be able to stay apart if they keep their distance, but sooner or later the closer they become the forces are just too strong to overcome.

Ms Watson is a lovely story teller. Her characters have depth, conversions are witty, and you can cut the sexual tension with a knife! It's a nice slow burn... Burn away Violet ... Burn

Wow.. Absolutely amazing!

This is my first book by A.P. Watson and I loved it. The story kept and held my attention. You can run from your past, try to forget, act like it never happened. But in the end the past has a way of catching up. Violet had lived a rough and abusive life growing up. A life No one should have to go thru. Violet leaves her old life behind and starts fresh. Hunter is her new sexy boss. Can violet and hunter remain professional as ther friendship blossoms. The chemistry and attraction is undeniable. But trusting people isn't easy for either of them. When family is supposed to be there for you, protect and love you. But they fail how do you trust again with out fear of being burned. As thier love grows they learn to heal. This is an amazing read. You'll enjoy the story from beginning to end. I did.

Violet is sassy or as Hunter describes her a real spitfire... she's been thru a lot in her past that she carries around on her shoulders but Hunter helps her by making her feels safe..
Their chemistry is a slow burn but intense. When they finally come together it's explosive...

4 stars for Burning Violet by A.P. Watson. This is my first book I have read from this author and I enjoyed it. I am sure I will be reading more from this author.
Violet has had a rough life and is running from a tragic past. A past no one should ever have to live. “The ones who should love me drove me away.” Violet has worked extremely hard to get where she is. She has come along way from her old life and has plans to keep advancing in her career. Hunter is now an outcast from his prestigious family. He left his old law firm because he was accused of something, he says he never need. This put a blemish on his record and is something he is not looking to repeat. He likes Violet from the start and she likes him but since Hunter is her boss nothing can happen between them. I love how this author has them develop a close friendship before anything more happens. I love how the chemistry grows during the slow burn that is their relationship. Their relationship slowly grows and for me that makes a great story. These two both have suffered but in different ways. Neither one of them knows how to trust after everything they have been through. “When you couldn’t rely on the people who were supposed to take care of you, supposed to raise you, then how was it possible to trust anyone ever again?”
This book is a must read for me. I will warn you that there might be some triggers for some. If you are triggered by things like sexual abuse, then this book might not be for you. I will say that it doesn’t go into much detail so you might be ok. I loved the cover of this book. The pop of color that is has really draws the eye. I also enjoyed the writers style and look forward to reading more of her work.

*voluntarily and honestly reviewed the ARC I received from Lady Amber's PR*

I really enjoyed this. I think the author does a great job at creating friendships between the couples. I've read her other books and I really liked that with this couple, they too were able to have their friendship grow. There was already an instant attraction, but because of their relationship, they were able to have a love grow to match that intensity. I always love that. It's fun to watch people who resist end up giving.

The writing was good, pretty easy to get into the flow. Violet's past was just as bad as I thought it'd be, and aside from one instance, I thought everything was handled pretty well. I do wonder at some things but otherwise I thought it was a good read. I'd recommend it to those who like romcoms but if you're triggered easily about bad things, I'd think twice.

Unbelievable

This author has created an unbelievable story. I could not put the book down. Although terrible betrayed by family both of the two main characters were able to overcome their past and build a strong relationship. True love conquers all. This author has brought out so many feelings as I was reading this story, I cannot express them all. The horror the female character went through in her youth, the disappointment the male character went through when his father did not believe in him, the elation as the story progressed that these two characters were able to overcome the troubles they went through and lastly the hot , intense passion these two shared. I highly recommend it to all romance lovers and I can't wait to read other stories from this author.

I loved it! I loved Hunter and Violet as individual characters and as a couple. What these two have been through in the past (especially Violet - heartbreaking) is so messed up! This book made me laugh, cry, get mad and everything in between. And I love when characters love books just as I do and there’s some great book moments in this. A truly great love story. Friends to lovers and office romance. It’s sort of a slow burn and it’s sort of not. Simply well done. And just look at that cover. So gorgeous! TW: talk of past child sexual abuse, stalking, sexual harassment in the workplace.

This book is a great example of great writing!

I have read this book in one setting, unable to put it down. The story was very different than most romance novels, with quirky dialogue and down to earth characters. This book is a great buy and know you will love it too.
