I love these kind of books..beautifully presented and packed with so much info a lot of which you wouldn't normally read about. Would make a fab gift as any HP fan, young or old would enjoy this book.
Diagon Alley - A Movie Scrapbook is one of the better books of this kind that I have read so far. Although there was some unnecessary repetition of information from the film series, there were also some interesting facts and pieces of trivia that I was unaware of, which ultimately made this book worth reading.
Rating - 4/5 ★★★★

‘Diagon Alley is a cobblestone shopping area for wizards and witches, and it was Harry Potter’s first introduction to the wizarding world. On this bustling street, seen throughout the Harry Potter films, the latest brooms are for sale, wizard authors give book signings and young Hogwarts students acquire their school supplies – cauldrons, quills, robes, wands and brooms. This scrapbook takes readers on a tour of Diagon Alley, from Gringotts to Ollivanders, Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes and beyond. Detailed profiles of each shop that give readers an unprecedented inside look at the beloved wizarding location. This book is amazing. This fantastic book was over flowing with Harry Potter magic. Not only did it have wonderful information such as illustrations, behind the scenes photographs and insights from the actors and film-makers. Not only is this book a wealth of awesome information but it is packed full of interesting features. With removable inserts such as stickers, wanted posters, maps and other Harry Potter collectables. I honestly didn’t expect this book to have so many wonderful pull outs and paper knick knacks. I have found with scrapbooks like these that sometimes they lack any new information, but that isn’t the case with this book. I found out quite a few things that I didn’t already know and was blow away while reading some of the details about how the movies were made. Not only does this book have amazing features but it has truly interesting information. One of the things I loved mot about this book was getting to revisit some iconic scenes from the movies, like Harry’s first visit to Ollivanders, or when Harry, Ron and Hermione escaped from Gringotts on the back of a dragon. Getting to relive these amazing moments and find out how they came to be made for a truly amazing reading experience. Diagon Alley: A Movie Scrapbook by Jody Revenson is a must-have collectible for all Harry Potter fans.
This is a pretty short book that shows various pictures of Diagon Alley with details about the shops and plenty of pictures from the movies. There are several ephemera placed throughout the book, which would be the only reason I even consider buying the book, but it honestly doesn't add anything new (besides telling you how much detail went into, say, building the Weasley twins' shop, and then it was only shown on screen for 2 minutes). I'm not sure why they keep trying to milk Harry Potter so badly - I guess because they can. It is nice to pick up right before taking a trip to Potter World though! It brought back so many memories for me and showed me how detailed and true to life the theme park is!
Nice little book that will appeal to the Harry Potter fan. Overview of Diagon Alley and all it has to offer - both from a book and movie perspective. Obviously the photos are from the movie productions, but there is also conceptual art, etc. Several neat extras stuck in include a copy of the Daily Prophet, a Quidditch scorecard, a Knight Bus ticket, and more. Reading through this makes me want to go back to Diagon Alley at Universal Studios and reminds me how well they captured the look and feel of this fascinating fictional place.
This was so much fun to read through. It gives you so much insight into how Diagon Alley was designed and created, which makes you appreciate it so much more. I learned some interesting stuff from this book, too! And of course the paper replicas they sprinkled in to give off the ‘scrapbook’ vibe really helped immerse you into the world again, even with such a short book. I love getting a peek behind the curtain when it comes to movie magic, but when it’s the Wizarding World, it’s even better.
This is very cool!! Definitely memorabilia all Harry Potter fans must have for their collection. A wondrous book that takes you through the Harry Potter movies and makes you want to rewatch them over and over (or pack up and move to the Harry Potter world and walk down Diagon Alley all day!!) Special thanks to Bloomsbury Publishers for sending me a copy of this book!! I will cherish it forever!!
This book is honestly the same as the other movie scrapbook, movie magic, etc etc style of Harry Potter movie books. It has the same information as previous ones, just maybe some different props. I wasn't impressed honestly. I wish it had new info, new details, in depth pictures etc.
This was a fun nostalgic walk down memory lane. Enjoyable for fans, but doesn't really offer anything you can't find in other books about the movies. Simple but creatively designed. Overall a satisfying flip through when wanting some warm memories.
Beautifully designed with a great attention to detail. Written simply and categorised well, it makes for a great read for any Harry Potter fan no matter if they're young or older; a long time fan of 20+ years or someone just discovering the magic of the HP world.
Well suited to a young audience or a non reader who has less of an attention span for reading. There's many bonus items in the book to make it multi sensory and keep your attention. I would personally prefer having more information in a non fiction book
