Good book but a bit disappointed
This was another action-packed novel with a good story line. The first four books in the story ended in a cliffhanger- I am not fond of cliffhanger endings! Having said this, I felt compelled to read the 5th book in the series in order to get to the end of the story (I suppose this is the point of a cliffhanger). If it had not been for the disastrous outcome for one of the main characters, I would really have enjoyed this book and rated it 5 stars. Instead, I was disappointed and saddened and found it difficult to finish the book. Perhaps it is just me; I read for enjoyment and love happy endings. If I decide to read any more books in this series, I really hope that the author will not continue the theme of putting the main character, DS Peter Gayle in the unhappy position with senior management as this kind of disgruntlement could become tedious over time.

DS Gayle and his team are closing in on there primary suspects. Hard core killers, brutal brothers with no sense of decency. They have kidnapped his son from a court room in session. Murdered the judge. Then they murdered his son. DS Gayle's team is behind him 100%. Unfortunately there commanding officer, a pencil pusher is not. His primary concern is advancement and his image. Non stop action, an excellent read!!!Enjoyed immensely!!

Wow! What a great read!
Of all of the Detective Pete Gayle books this was the most emotional I have read. The storyline kept going faster and faster like the car chases! The attention to detail and the line by line descriptions of several cases at once were mesmerizing! Can’t wait for the next one in this series but till then will keep reading this authors other series.

Another rast read!
Another thrilling, can not put down book! Still strange phrasing... but it is in England; so appropriate. I was surprised to find out how young DS Gayle is! Starting #6 now!

Best of the Series
This the best book so far of the Peter Gayle series. It is fast paced and ties up all the loose ends of the previous 4 books. Now that he's found his stride, I hope Mr. Slater keeps it up.

Great complicated journey
You must pay attention to follow No Middle Ground but it is worth it. Has a sad ending that works well with the story.

Book #5 of the continuing series and I think this one is the best one so far! Each book is a little better than the last. Action packed the whole way through!

A bit of a different story that it to place in England with theirs slightly different manner in police works.
But I will be looking forward to read another DS Peter Gayle novel.in the near future.
