Fae. Vampires. Mages. Demons. A Federal Paranormal Unit. Savagery and Skills will hook you!
Seneca Savage is a bad ass with skills. Not the kind of skills that one puts on a formal resume. She’s the daughter of a mage and a fae, and now she’s an orphan and a former street kid. She’s had the kind of life nightmares are made of.
When she turned eighteen, things changed. Running into a vampire has a way of changing one’s life. Too bad the vampire didn’t realize she was part fae and that her blood was toxic to him. Toxic in the most lethal of ways. Except, the encounter changed her.
Now she freelances, selling her skills and her savagery to the paranormal government or any other individual who can afford her fee. She’ll spy, steal, and even kill. She has only one rule. She won’t kill humans. That’s the rule.
She maneuvers between assignments and skirts death, while at the same time tries to look out for the little human sidekick that she’d like to shake on most days.
Warning: Unputdownable action-packed fantasy, with fae, vampires, mages, demons, and a Federal Paranormal Unit
I’m not having good luck with books at the moment 😕
I liked the premise, but once again, the characters have let me down. I didn’t mind Seneca, but Draven and the other characters just frustrated the heck out of me. He was a complete psychopath who didn’t have a problem with killing innocent people so long as it furthered his agenda in regards to his long wished for revenge. I don’t see anything redeeming in him, and I couldn’t be bothered following a series with characters I dislike - okay, loathe - even if the premise sounds interesting.
(FYI I tend to only review one book per series, unless I completely change my mind on a series, so want to change my scoring.)
First time read the author's work?: No
Will you be reading more?: Yes
Would you recommend?: Yes
------------ How I rate Stars: 5* = I loved (must read all I can find by the author) 4* = I really enjoyed (got to read all the series and try other books by the author). 3* = I enjoyed (I will continue to read the series) or 3* = Good book just not my thing (I realised I don't like the genre or picked up a kids book to review in error.)
All of the above scores means I would recommend them! - 2* = it was okay (I might give the next book in the series a try, to see if that was better IMHO.) 1* = Disliked
Note: adding these basic 'reviews' after finding out that some people see the stars differently than I do - hoping this clarifies how I feel about the book. :-)
uh. I found the "audiobook" on youtube and that alone is part of the low reason. They used a really crappy ai generated voice for the "audiobook" and its just not good. its not great. either narrate it yourself as an author or actually pay someone to do it.
I keep reading these modern fae cop books because i'm always a fan of the theme but this character is just "edgy special girl" and the other characters are just so boring. the story isn't so much of a "im a fixer who does whatever is needed of me" intro story and just jumps straight into end of the world "evil coming to destroy the world as we know it"
Another series by Ciara Graves this one about a Fae Princess Seneca Savage who does not realize who she is since she has been raised in the mortal realm. Mages are being taken and drained of their blood and magic by vampires and a war is coming. Seneca was pure Fae but was turned after being tortured for years so she is now half vampire her demon boyfriend Owen is lying to her all the time about things that Seneca needs to know....first book in this new series nd I'm not sure how I feel about it yet....
At the start of the book I was quite impressed with Seneca, but then Agent Williams appeared and the book just went downhill. I tried to stay with it, but every new character just made it worse, in fact caricature would be a better description. It became clear I was definitely not the target audience for this book, so I cut my losses and gave up.
This was a great story from the paranormal world. There's a lot of action and drama and mystery and the story continues in the next novel. You'll enjoy reading this you won't be able to put it down. I'm a voracious reader and I could not put this down until I finished it and I'm going to be purchasing the next book in the series.
I downloaded Savage Secrets, book 1 of the Savagery & Skills series, as a free ebook from Amazon. For as much as I enjoyed this storyline and Seneca as a strong protagonist, by comparison, I felt a lack in the layers and motivations of the other characters, I liked Seneca enough to download the next book and I hope the plot gains some strength and structure.
I love the Fae world. The battle of. Good and evil is On going. I love the main character but why is she so messed up? Too much pain and torture. The plot is interesting. I look forward to the net book.
I love this series and it's only book one. Written so well that you are sucked into feeling emotions along side the characters. The disbelief and frustration at the end has me scrambling for the next book! Can't wait to continue Senecas story.
It started out, I was willing it to be good. But really when your trying to keep track of characters backgrounds, who they are fighting for and changes it got list on me.
This is a very low 3 star- there’s nothing really wrong with it but realistically, nothing happens. It just feels like it’s laying out the groundwork to eventually get to the story.
It has a good story baseline too and I was excited to start reading it. Rather disappointed
This story was interesting. Some questions still need answers but still an enjoyable read. I feel for Seneca and I hope she can get her revenge on everyone.
