Building Storm

Rate this book
She hasn’t been living. He’s looking for a way to forget it all.

My life went up in flames. All I’m left with is my daughter and ashes. The simple act of breathing is so excruciating, there are days I wish I could stop altogether. So I have no business being at the party, and I definitely shouldn’t be in the arms of the handsome stranger. When his lips meet mine, he breathes life into me for the first time since the day the inferno disintegrated my world. But loving again isn’t in the cards, and there are even greater dangers to face than trying to keep Landon McCabe out of my heart.

Running is my only option. I have to get away from Chicago and the betrayal that shattered my world. I need a new life-one without attachments. The vibrancy of New Orleans convinces me it’s possible to start over. Yet in all the excitement of a new city, it’s Storm Hawke’s dark, sad beauty that draws me in. She isn’t looking for love, and we both need a hot, sweaty release without feelings getting involved. But even the best laid plans fail, and life can leave you burned.

Love can build, and love can destroy. But in the end, love is what raises you from the ashes.

***Building Storm is the fourth and final full-length novel in The Hawke Family Series. While it is a complete story, it is NOT meant to be read as a standalone. The story of the Hawke siblings starts in Savage Collision and continues in book two, Tortured Skye, and book three, Stone Sober before reaching the plot in Building Storm. These stories all build on one another and are intertwined. They need to be read in order to fully enjoy and understand the plots and characters. ***

Building Storm is tear jerking book four in the Hawke Family series by Gwyn McNamee. I knew from the blurb for this book it was going to be an emotional one. I was not wrong at all!! I am endlessly surprised by how an author can continuously produce these stories of such high quality and content, time and time again. They have my respect and appreciation for all the work that goes into each story. You can always tell the ones that leave it all on the pages for us lucky readers to witness. I am in awe of the stunning impact these stories have on me and the memories that will stay with me while I am on this earth.

Storm knows tragedy and pain, as does Landon. They have scars so deep, there is no end to them. Intensity and strange events have them drawn to each other, but for the physical connection, nothing more. I love when they think they are fooling us. They can be in denial all they like, but they will find that peace together. I will not have it any other way! The more they fight, the more inevitable it becomes. Landon is stubborn, and does not ever give up on Storm. Storm breaks my heart with what she has endured, that all I want is her to find that much deserved happiness. The emotional turmoil was relentless, but those moments of intense passion and connecting with another, was blinding in its beauty.

Building Storm is the final story in the Hawke Family series. It was agonising to read the last word of the final chapter, but an immeasurable pleasure to have been on this journey with all these complex, crafty, flawed and entertaining characters. This series is one I will read many more times. An unforgettable series. 5 stars.

Building Storm⛈️

OMG, this book was emotional and so unexpected but I really enjoyed it❣️Storm is trying to overcome a great tragedy but she feels as though she is drowning and failing everyone around her. Her friend Caroline, drags her to a party, where she really does not want to be and this is where she meets Landon🤩

Landon has moved to New Orleans from Chicago to escape the betrayal he’s just been dealt. His brother, Chris has asked him to come aboard to help with some projects and he’s more than ready to jump in. He meets Storm at the party she’s dragged to and is drawn to her like a magnet. Not realising her connection to his brother, he soon discovers who she is and they embark on a journey together as friends with benefits😉

As mentioned a great story that I enjoyed with lots of suspense and emotion filled moments😢 I’m looking forward to Saint and Steele’s books next😍

Never have I disliked a hero so much, yet still loved the book

So don't let the fact that I spent half the book wanting to throat punch Landon put you off this fantastic read. The writing, plot, heroine (Storm), the rest of the Hawke clan and the steaming hot sexy times kept me gripped.

I'm going to get my Landon issues out of the way, so that I can concentrate on the better stuff. He was just a bit too full on, at times, for me. The first time he met Storm, he didn't know her story, so fair dues. However when he did discover she was a recent widow with a very young child, I just felt that his 'sex will cure everything' mantra, and his forceful pursuit was just a bit too much. Bear in mind, THAT WAS JUST ME - it's a very personal and subjective observation, but he irritated me enough that I needed to rant a little.

What was less subjective was his insistence on knowing everything about Storm, whilst keeping a humdinger of a secret. So I'd be up in arms about his as-good-as-lying holding back, and then he'd admit he was out of line. Then he'd push again whilst deliberately not being honest, before admitting his hypocrisy. However this was fully acknowledged by the author, so I'm not taking any stars away and actually sneakily admire her for it.

Why is it so hard for her to just tell me what's going on in that damn beautiful head of hers?

...but I hate keeping this from Storm. I expect her to open up to me, but I can't do the same with her. Not yet.......Hypocrite much?

"All I want is the truth." A bit hypocritical of me to be demanding it from her when I haven't been fully honest.

Storm I absolutely loved, yes she blew hot and cold but this was TOTALLY understandable. She was a confused, grieving, depressed, hot mess. I felt her pain, I felt her conflict and I definitely felt her lust too :) I also loved how the plot raised the issue of judging those who move on from loss 'too quickly' - especially as it brought me up short!

It was fantastic to catch up with the rest of the Hawkes and their SO's. The banter, the subtle digs, the outright meddling made me laugh on more than one occasion. You can feel their love and respect for one another. The suspense was excellent, even when I semi-guessed some aspects, I didn't have the faintest about others. And boy did Ms McNamee wring every drop of pain that she could from the situation. Bravo!

The heat levels in this are very high and the language is 'industrial', but they both fit the plot and characters extremely well. It never felt gratuitous, cheap or sleazy - just gritty and hot in all the right way! Roll on Saint's story.

Building Storm is the fourth book in the Billionaires of New Orleans: The Hawke Family series, and this installment is an emotional one compared to the previous books. My heart ached for the FMC, Storm Hawke, for what she endured at the end of the third book, Stone Sober. She had lost the love of her life, and in this book, she’s trying to live life without him by taking care of her daughter plus running a company that her husband and his partner used to run. The last thing she wants is to fall in love again, but once she meets the MMC, Landon McCabe, at a club, he ends up making her feel alive again.

Where to start first on what I loved about this book, though? Everything. I loved everything—the characters and how well-developed they were, plus the emotional storyline that was hard to pull away from because I needed to know how Landon and Storm were going to have their HEA. This book was not an easy one to read, and I bet it was even more difficult for Gwyn McNamee to write. If I was having to use tissues, I know Gwyn McNamee probably was, too, while she wrote it. Any author who makes me feel so much for the characters and their story is a friggin’ amazing author.

I’m so glad that Storm found someone like Landon. He understood she was grieving, and he also understood that she would never stop loving her husband. He was going to be there for her no matter what. What he endured, as well, made me understand why he left Chicago. He needed to find himself again and get away and start over and he found it with Storm and her daughter. I also understood why he was hesitant to say anything. Be prepared for drama and suspense, especially towards the end of this book.

This book is definitely going to be my favorite in the series, even though I still need to read the next two books. It’s also going to be one book that will be in my thoughts for years to come; that’s how much the characters and story impacted me. I wish I could give it more than five stars because it truly deserves it.

Single/Dual POV: Dual POV

Standalone or Part of Series: It’s part of the Billionaires of New Orleans: The Hawke Family series and needs to be read in order.

Would I recommend this book/series? Yes. I highly recommend this book/series to readers who enjoy reading emotional, steamy, and suspenseful romance.

What to Expect:

✔️Workplace Romance
✔️Single Mother Romance
✔️Widower Heroine

“Storm fits her. The cascading mane of jet-black hair, the cloud of darkness in her blue eyes peering out from behind the silver mask, the swirling uncertainty surrounding her, it all reminds me of a massive hurricane threatening on the horizon. And I am more than willing to let that storm crash down around me.”

“Sometimes a spark just needs a little fuel to ignite.”

Building Storm is the highly anticipated fourth book in the Hawke Family series by author extraordinaire, Gwyn McNamee. As with every book I have read of Ms. McNamee’s, I really am at a loss for words to do this story the justice it deserves and relay just how incredible this story is. I devoured this book as soon as it hit my kindle, and got so completely engrossed in it that the real world faded away, as I lost all sense of time and place. I laughed, I cried, I cursed, I swooned, and sizzled in my seat- as the story unfolded.
This book had quite a lot of stiff competition to face in the form of the other exceptional instalments in the series, and it would have been easy for this one to have been overshadowed by all the previous plots. But of course, Ms. McNamee held an ace up her sleeve with this story, and delivered a book that not only holds its own amongst greatness, but has its own stellar identity and edge. Having said that, though, this book could be read as a standalone, but as it is an important part of a series, I suggest reading all the books in their correct order to get all the backstories, character information and other relevant details- which will enhance your reading pleasure.
I won’t even touch on the storyline, as it would be too easy to give something away. But, I highly recommend this book, the entire series, and any of Ms. McNamee’s work- as you are sure to become as addicted to her stories and this series, as I am. She definitely should be on everyone’s ‘must read’ list!
Even though this is the final full-length novel in this series, I am looking forward to the short stories and spin-off that are yet to come!!
Bellissimo!!!

Thank you, Ms. McNamee!

Building Storm: (A Hawke Family Novel) (Hawke Family #4) by Gwyn McNamee
5 out of 5 stars

Building Storm is the fourth book in the Hawke Family series written by Gwyn McNamee and I have to say is WOW…. This is an emotional story about two broken people that have known loss and finding love again. Ms. McNamee writing is exceptionally good, the plot sucks you in from the first page and keeps you fully engrossed until the last page. Her characters are well developed and amazing we even get to see some characters from the first three books and we see what they are up to.
Can two broken people make each other whole?
We read a little about Storm in the first few books…. Her life went up in flames when she lost the love of her life all she all she has left is her daughter and ashes. The simple act of breathing is so excruciating, there are days she couldn’t get it together. She has no business being at the party that she doesn’t want to be at, and I definitely shouldn’t be in the arms of the handsome stranger.
Landon is broken for different reasons and he needs to get away from Chicago and the betrayal that shattered his world. He needs a new life-one without attachments. The vibrancy of New Orleans convinces himself it’s possible to start over. Yet in all the excitement of a new city, its Storm Hawke’s dark, sad beauty that draws him in.
She isn’t looking for love, and they both need a hot, sweaty release without feelings getting involved. So when his lips meet hers, and he breathes life into her for the first time since the day the inferno disintegrated her world. But loving again isn’t in the cards, and there are even greater dangers to face than trying to keep Landon McCabe out of her heart.
But even the best laid plans fail, and life can leave you burned….
You will need to read this story/series to find out about what happens to this amazing couple. I can’t wait to see what Ms. McNamee has in-stored for us with her next installment of The Hawke family series.
I highly recommend this book/series.

Building Storm is so much about rising from the ashes. It’s about losing everything, being broken, and finding out that when you think you can’t go on there’s a rainbow behind the clouds.

The story brings together two people who are both broken and similar but different in ways. Two people who for all intents and purposes should be running away from feelings. What starts out as just some good old-fashioned banging quickly turns into two people you are rooting for.

What Storm has already had to endure coupled with what else she ends up enduring throughout the story will break your heart, but also let you in to see just how much inner strength this woman has no matter what storms are engulfing her life.

Landon is a man clearly dealing with his own troubled past and storms. He somehow is able to use that to help Storm in ways she doesn’t realize. In the process I think he finds some of his own healing that maybe he didn’t realize he needed and deserved.

As with any good romantic suspense story, the secrets are bound to come out and you better hold on to your seat for the crying, the shock, and the pure holy heck moments,

Bringing other characters to the forefront like Saint and Byron make the story even more enticing. As always I love that this author brings all of the Hawke family in. While reading this series the only thing I would love to maybe see is a prequel that gives us much more background to Antonia and the origins of the Hawke family. Just as in book 3 this story has so much more storytelling than books one and two it’s exciting to see the incredible growth of this author from book one to this book and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next one. I highly recommend reading the series in order to get the most fulfillment out of your reading pleasure.

Storm & Landon own me - heart, body and soul!

I have been on edge while reading but Building Storm took me to an all time high. Teetering along the precipice of total ruin the entire ride. Knowing that what ever happens next in the story will either piece my tattered heart back together or obliterate it completely. Reading these soul scorching words evoked ALL the feels. The sizzling burn of attraction while fighting gut wrenching guilt. The emotional tug of war. The hope in finding new light in a life left utterly dark after profound loss. Anticipation - gah the well paced and perfectly timed build up in every aspect of this story.

All left me so blissfully wrung out! When I finished and my heart rate began to slow - I was wiped out as if experiencing that entire storyline right along with these characters. I didn't just read these amazing words- this story was a full body experience!

I have devoured every book in this series. Every time I swear this is the author's absolute best work yet. The depth to the storyline and this family's history is exceptional. The acute attention to every detail. Complexity and development of each and every character. All impeccably articulated. The only question left unanswered is what are Luca Abello's intentions? Please, I need to know! So many possibilities on where his story can go. Can't wait to find out!

I cannot rave enough about how talented Gywn McNamee is. I just want to follow her around like a bff and offer to braid her hair or carry her purse. IF you haven't read her work before - click now! She is brilliant!

Building Storm: (A Hawke Family Novel) (The Hawke Family Book 4)

By Gwyn McNamee

5 +++++++ Stars

So I have done a bit of binge reading...I had only read Savage Collision before this book was released so could not read this one till I completed the other two and now I have a bonafide Hawke Family hangover and am so so sad that I don't have another to move on to. I love this family and all those that have come along and joined it. Each story is unique and has something different to offer but the one constant throughout is the family ties which is one of my favorite things in my books. Then of course there's the way this author twists these stories and you just sit there not knowing what is going to happen or when it's going to happen. This one had me lost on the impending twist, I usually have some idea of what might happen but this one threw me and for some reason I didn't see it coming till it was obvious.

My heart was broken in two at the end of Stone Sober and it didn't mend till quite a ways into this one. That's one of the reasons I love this author so so much, when I read her books I just know I'm in for an emotional ride and when that ride ends it always leaves me wanting so much more. I know this can't be it...There's more story to tell for this family especially with characters that have appeared back and you just know there's more drama ahead and I for one CAN NOT WAIT!!

Do not even attempt to read these books out of order...It will not work and besides this author is brilliant and you don't want to miss a single word :)

The story Building Storm: (A Hawke Family Novel) (The Hawke Family Book 4) by Gwyn McNamee is a contemporary romance book. I was thrilled when I found out about the release of the next story in this series. I have loved reading the series since the first book. This story is just one more wonderful addition. I was hooked from the very beginning and as soon as I started, I found myself glued to the pages. I truly enjoyed the dialogue and interactions between the characters and I love that characters from the previous books are brought forward into this one. I loved reading about the characters of Storm Hawke and Landon McCabe. Storm is feisty, strong-willed, and stubborn. She is also a woman who is just existing. Landon is a man that has come to New Orleans to start over. He is charming, intelligent, and kind. Reading about Storm and Landon had my emotions going up and down the entire time. They are two characters that I grew to care about with each chapter that I read. This story has moments that are sad and also ones that warmed my heart. There are times when I was turning pages to find out what happened next. This is a series that should be read in order to fully understand the plots and characters. Don’t miss out on reading Storm and Landon’s story.

"Grief... is the price of love."

This emotive book about the Hawke family's eldest female sibling is a powerful read.

We got to see two sides of Storm in this series. For most of time in the preceding books, Storm has been a powerhouse; a stubborn, feisty, kick-ass woman, who helps guide her family. When she tragically loses her husband, she becomes a mere shadow of that vibrant woman, retreating behind her grief and pain. Unwilling to hurt like that in the future, she has closed off her heart.

Landon is running from the mess his life has become in Chicago. Looking for a way to calm the restless energy, he's determined to be only open to casual, meaningless flings. Yet, one look at Storm has him second-guessing his intentions.

"This is everything we never wanted yet somehow managed to stumble upon."

Though they least expect it, feelings run deep quickly within a short period of time, but Storm still has a lot of baggage to shed in order for her to fully move on with her life & Landon.

I enjoyed the way that Gwyn McNamee intricately wove this entire series together. She made me excited and eager to find out what was going to happen next in each of these siblings' lives. I will admit that I wanted more of a conclusion with the Hawke/Abello family situation, but this story wrapped up in a pretty good way, for the most part.

I recommend this series (books must be read in order).

I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.

Building Storm: (A Hawke Family Novel) (The Hawke Family Book 4) Gwyn McNamee just blew me out of the water. I thought Stone was my favourite and now Building Storm has surpassed my expectations. Gwyn is an amazing writer and and I always know I am in safe hands when I read one of her books. This story I devoured in one sitting, even though I had to get up for work the next day I absolutely could not set it aside. I was so wrapped up in the story time was gone before I even came up for air. Gwyn knows just the right ingredients to weave together to give you an experience you will not forget. Your heart will be pumping and jumping out of your chest and your emotions running all over the place. I felt as though I was the one in the story as I felt it all. I laughed, I cried and sobbed, my sorrow and love was real, my heart broke and at times I could not breathe. It is as beautiful as it is dark, it is as wonderful as it is sad and it is raw and powerful. The complexity of the characters and their lives and the plot is a work of art.

There will be no spoilers on this review as the story speaks for itself. There are a multiple of other books I can see from some of the other characters in this series and I really, really can not wait to see where Gwyn may take us.

This is the most amazing story that no one should miss. It is brilliant.

Building Storm
A Hawke Family Novel
The Hawke Family
Book 4
By Gwyn McNamee
Story of a second chance at finding love. This story is not for those under 18, due to strong adult content.

Storm has lost her husband is a terrible fire. All she has left is their daughter and his company. As she continues to work her way through the death of her beloved husband. She must continue to run his company. Being an employee, she needed to keep up her part of the business. She attends a party with her friend. Big mistake! But was it? Was meeting Landon a mistake?

Landon has left his home and job. Fleeing to New Orleans, a little town. But away from the things that sent him running. He needs to start over, no commitments will be allowed. He now needs a job and a hot fling. Going to a party he meets Storm. Sad eyes, yet absolutely beautiful. The one he can't get out if his mind. Should he stay or should he go? That is his dilemma.

I absolutely love Gwyn McNamee writing style. Her mind set and her books. This is book 4 in the series. You must read them in order. In order to know and follow the Hawke family. I love the characters and the roles they play. The second chance she gives to Storm is beautiful. While this is the end of this series. I looking forward to see what comes next for Gwyn McNamee.

Rising from the ashes, Storm rebuilds her life after a devastating tragedy.

No one paid a higher price for the betrayal of a family friend than Storm, who's beloved husband Ben was killed by the mobster they once trusted. Six months later, she still can't find her way out of the darkness that is threatening to pull her under completely. The very last thing she's ready for is another relationship.

Landon fled Chicago when his own life fell apart. His answer to being betrayed is to never let his heart open for punishment again. But that doesn't mean he can't appreciate the need to escape his emotional turmoil through physical satisfaction. He can see that Storm is a kindred spirit, and he sets out to help her find the same release and satisfaction.

Soon, their priorities are focused on the sinister threats that threaten to shatter her new lease on life. If you like having your heart ripped open for characters that feel everything on the deepest level, this was written for you. Secrets are revealed, past alliances are examined anew, and the very meaning of life becomes abundantly clear. This is a gripping, emotionally-cathartic love story that reaffirms the fundamentals of love, life, and family. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

“Even in her anguish, she’s magnificent.”

Building Storm is book 4 in Gwyn McNamee’s Hawke Family series. (If you haven’t read books 1-3 of this series, go one-click them now!)

Gwyn tore my heart out in Stone Sober, but she slowly pieced it back together in Building Storm.

Storm Matthews has had her entire world ripped apart by those she trusted. Can she recover & find a way to rebuild a life for her & her daughter?

Landon McCabe is running from a life that fell apart & from those who betrayed him. Relocating to New Orleans & having an opportunity to work with his brother may be just what he needs to move on.

Sparks fly the minute these two meet. Can they find a way to move beyond their pain & rise from the ashes to build a life together?

I can’t tell you more without giving you spoilers, but what follows is a story that left me full of emotions. It had twists & turns, laughs & tears, and some really hot love scenes!

Seriously, if you haven’t already met the Hawkes, go get Savage Collision, Tortured Skye & Stone Sober so you can join me on this magnificent journey! Building Storm is a complete story, but the Hawkes must be read in order to fully enjoy this series.

Building Storm is the conclusion of Gwyn McNamee’s Hawke Family Series AND as the writer states herself, it should NOT be read as a standalone and the series should absolutely be read in order to get the full understanding of the plots and characters and to enjoy it the fullest! I have read the series in the order and I can confirm that every story builds upon the previous one so do yourself a favour and listen to us!
Building Storm gives us Storm Hawke and Landon McCabe’s story. It is a story of profound loss and finding light in the dark when you have settled in for it to last for eternity. Their story makes you cry and rage and curse and … and it also gives us hope and once you have hope, you are able to carry on … I loved how the writer is giving us in each of the stories in the series that sibling’s story in its own rights … it would be so easy for one story to bleed into the other and …
The writer has given us a beautiful conclusion of the series and I am a bit sad to leave the Hawke family behind but I have no doubt that they might pop in suddenly in writer’s other stories as I do not believe that she will be able to leave them completely behind!

Building Storm is a very emotional story. It isn’t like the rest of the series, in those books you can feel the emotion sporadically throughout, whereas in Storm’s the emotions are felt on every page.

*SPOILERS IF U HAVENT READ THE OTHERS*

Storm is dealing with death of her husband that happened in the end of Stone Sober. She is lost and heartbroken but she still has to be a mother to Angel and run her own business. Her family and friends are all there for her, that is how she meets Landon. Landon is a man who is recovering and trying to move on from a disaster that happened in his life.

Storm is a very strong and stubborn woman, what Hawke isn’t, but this is what I love most about her. Though then again I bugs me how stubborn she can be. There were times I just wanted to scream at her LOL. Landon is just the right person for Storm. He is always there for her, even throughout all the times she pushes him away.

These books really need to be read in order to fully understand the story and know what is happening.

Building Storm: A Hawke Family Novel (The Hawke Family #4)
By Gwyn McNamee

This book almost killed me! Oh my gosh this author she knows how to get me every time I read one of her books, from the completely unexpected to making me fall so hard in love with her characters that anytime anything happens I feel like I am right there with them. I will admit I cried, a lot during this book. My heart hurt for Storm, the author wrote her character in such a way that I genuinely could feel what she was feeling. The emotional feels in this book were real! I have been so lucky to read all of the books in this series, Savage Collision is still one of my most favourite reads ever but this book was something else. I could tell that the author had truly poured her heart and soul into this read, the pain and suffering of the characters is real. I’m not going to go into details as I do not want to spoil this read for anybody but it truly is an outstanding story that I cannot recommend enough – it may only be January but I know for sure that I have found one of my top reads of 2019!

Building Storm by Gwyn McNamee is a five star novel. This novel is the fourth installment to the Hawke Family series. First off, I was drawn to these novels because of their amazingly hot covers. I love the black and white images and how the titles have everything to do with the character the author has centered that book around. This author has a masterful way of drawing the reader into her story and making you feel like you could be a part of this family as well. There is so much drama and heat between the characters that you will find you cannot put it down. When Storm realizes she is on her own, she is next to done for. She has no idea how she is going to keep on living and raise their daughter. She also knows what it was like growing up with her mom and promises that somehow, she will figure this out so that her daughter doesn’t have to grow up with a mother who had that look about her all the time also. It might take a while, but she will find herself again. I cannot wait to continue with the fifth and final book in this series!

Building Storm is the fourth novel in The Hawke Family series by Gwyn McNamee. It follows Savage, Skye, and Stone's sister storm through her journey to not only finding herself again, but finding all of the reasons she has to keep going.

Storm Matthews is mourning to the tragic loss of her husband. Ever since he passed, she's been a shell of herself. But her friend Caroline convincing her to get out and go to a club might just be the start of something she never expected to find.

Landon McCabe is new to town. Running from his prior life, a new city is exactly what he needs. So, going to the club that night was just to find some unattached fun. What he found instead will never leave him the same. Even if he tries to convince himself otherwise for a while.

This book had lots of ups and downs. Storm's sadness and Landon's denial makes them seem like a sad bunch, but each of their personal growth is something to admire. I loved getting to know more of the Hawke clan and can not wait to read the next in the series!

After knowing what happened to Storm at the end of Stone’s book, I’ve been waiting to find out how she handles her change in life. This is the fourth book in the Hawke Family Series by Gwyn McNamee and it did not disappoint.

Her life went up in ashes after her husband Ben died in an accident. She’s left with her daughter and struggling to breathe on a daily, but needs to for her daughter.

In a chance encounter at a party she meets Landon and ends up in his arms, breathing life into her for the first time in forever. Afraid and unable to deal with these feelings she runs away.

Landon is running from his own issues in Chicago and takes a job working in the firm Storm now owns.

They aren’t looking for love but they both need a hot, sweaty release without strings. But the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry.

This book is emotional from start to finish. The emotions Storm goes through as she deals with her grief and growing feelings.

Can these two broken people who have known major losses find love again?

Building Storm by Gwyn McNamee a Squall of a five-star read. This is the forth novel in the Hawke Family series and they are best when read in order, they each have such powerful and gripping story lines, I do think that Building Storm may just be the best, after I had read the previous novels and loved them and I feel that getting to know Storm and watch her story develop just made this one so much stronger and more compelling. I don’t want to say too much as I would hate to give spoilers as there are a few points that you will feel like the rugs been pulled from under you and you will just adore it!! I love how Gwyn McNamee brings the city of New Orleans to life in the pages almost like another character along with the buildings and the description they will blow you away, the passion and drama written between the pages are simply sublime, if you haven’t read this series then you need to go buy them all, it’s such a powerful series that you can’t miss.

Building Storm by Gwyn McNamee is the fourth book in the Hawke Family series. If you haven't read any of this amazing series you need to stop here and go get the first book and get hooked.

Storm reminded me of a phoenix rising from the ashes from the moment I started reading this book. Storm is having to learn how to live a new normal but thankfully she's not alone. Her family is amazing through it all. I think I was crying or fighting tears through most of this book, made me think if a friend who is two months into this exact same journey.

There are so many raw emotional moments from the beginning to the end. I have loved this series from word one but there was something about this book that grabbed me.

I'm not ready to say bye to the Hawke's and their life in New Orleans and will be waiting patiently for the next book to come out even if I have to wait a very long time which I hope I don't.

“I have learned that grief is another name for love.” ~ Unknown

It is hard for me, yet again, to come up with the words to properly describe how wonderful of a novel Gwyn McNamee has penned with Building Storm. Truly and utterly stunning… I was left lost in my thoughts for a few days before I could come to this review. I have been anticipating this book for some time now as it is the fourth novel in McNamee’s Hawke Family Series. I highly suggest you read the other books in the series and in order before you read this book. This is not a standalone novel! I knew to expect a book that would give me some feels and some steamy sass that we just can’t find anywhere else but with Gwyn McNamee but wow, I had no idea this was coming. It was absolutely beyond expectations! As for plot details and info… you won’t find that here… you will have to scoop this up for yourself. Thank you so much for this wonderful series, and this wonderful book Ms. McNamee!

“How do I stop the longing? How do I stop the guilt? How do I stop the pain?”

I couldn’t wait to read more about the Hawke Family. I love that previous characters are sprinkled in and I’m hoping to still get more of their story.

“I hate disorder, and my life has been anything but orderly lately. It’s been more like a tornado, whirling and spinning and sucking things and people into it, mixing them up, battering them, and then spewing them, and me, out across a wasteland it created.”

This book has so much emotion...it’s a true battle over your mind and heart. There is grief, guilt, secrets, mystery, hope, loss, friendship, family loyalty, chemistry, revenge, uncertainty and twist throughout the story.

“Grief never ends, but it changes. It is a passage, not a place to stay. Grief is not a sign of weakness nor a lack of faith: it is the price of love.”

Building Storm (A Hawke Family Novel) ( The Hawke Family Book 4) by: Gwyn McNamee

Building Storm (A Hawke Family Novel) ( The Hawke Family Book 4) by Gwyn McNamee is the fourth Book in her Hawke Family Series .This series must be read in order as each book builds on one another. All I can say is Gwyn sure knows how to draw you in and keeps your attention till the end. She literally writes “knock your socks" off stories.I love the Hawke Family its definitely a series I see myself reading over and over again in the future. I’ve been patiently waiting for Storm's story and Holy Cow was it worth the wait. Get ready for a emotional rollercoaster ride .This is Landon's and Storms story. Both of these two know what betrayal feels like and both are in need of some healing. Find out what happens with these two. I highly recommend reading this book and the whole series if you haven't already. I can't wait to read more from this Author.

Loved Storm and Landons story. Storm had so much tragedy the last six months. She was barely functioning. Her daughter is the only thing that keeps her going. She just wants to stay at home and forget the world outside. But. She has a business she owned with her now deceased husband that needs her attention. She never expected to fall for anyone again. She wasnt looking for any of it. She was just lonely. It was suppose to be sex with benefits. But she ended up getting alot more than she bargained for. Landon is a nice good looking guy. While is now working for her company. Even though she tries to avoid him. He eventually catches up with her. And there are sparks and electricity between them. But landon hasnt been totally honest as to why he has come to New Orleans from Chicago. What's he hiding? Definitely an awesome read. Love this series.

This book brought out so many emotions. I laughed, cried and boy did I cry. This was a book that hit my emotional core.

We all know Storm lost her husband Ben in an arson fire at club THREE, and this book is the continuation of her story.

Storm is an absolute mess and all the Hawkes are trying so hard to bring her back into the world but it is a stranger that actually gives her moments of peace.

Landon is running from his life in Chicago to make a fresh start. At a BDSM club party he is alurred by Storm and the feelings radiating off of her. The sadness and emptiness make approach her. They are both not looking for anything. She accepts an offer to dance from him and she is shocked to find she smiles and enjoys the moments in his arms.

This is a story of hidden pasts and guilt and so much more.
