Miss Spell

Rate this book
FROM THE JACKET At first glance Miss Spell seems to be a normal little princess. But Miss Spell has magical powers and can create spells for her amusement. She is a bit of a mischief-maker, which often backfires and wears Mailman Max out and peeves her mother. Join in with the villagers to see what Miss Spell does with words that may sound the same, but have a totally different meaning. FROM THE Miss Spell is a magical Princess who uses her magic for mischief and gets a challenge from an unlikely source to "use her magic for what is write" (misspelling intentional). Soon the town will be turned upside down. Mailman Max seems to be happy about the new developments at first, but soon things are going to change in the little village… This fun picture book will help readers discover the many ways the English language confuses as words said aloud sound the same (two, too, too or their, there, they're) but have very different meanings and outcomes. The ending is a delightful surprise and will teach and show the lesson of mischief backfiring...

It's a cute book. The magical princess offers to grant written requests, but the citizens aren't too good at spelling. When one person asks for an "aunt farm," and another asks for "hare" on his head, she gives them exactly what they asked for. It has large illustrations, good for reading to a group, and might provide a little extra motivation for kids who are learning their spelling words.
