Un tomo lleno de acción.

En esta décima parte de The Promised Neverland nos volvemos a encontrar con el plan que se interrumpió en el volumen anterior, con sus correspondientes giros en los planes y sus escenas de acción. Además, la vuelta de algún que otro personaje deja las puertas de la onceava entrega repleta de incógnitas.

Este número, para mí, se divide en dos 'historias' que se van contando paralelamente: la de Emma contra el demonio, y la del resto de habitantes de Goldy Point huyendo, planeando y luchando con el resto de demonios. Es decir: lo mismo que vimos en la anterior entrega. Es hacia el final cuando las dos líneas no se terminan de juntar, y durante la historia, gracias a los flashbacks, somos capaces de entender muchísimo mejor qué es lo que está sucediendo.

Como siempre, tenemos unos plot twists más que interesantes, y como siempre también, me dejaron con la boca abierta. No sé cómo lo hacen, pero siempre le dan la vuelta a la tortilla.

No puedo decir mucho más porque es una entrega llena de acción y con poca trama, pero espero que en la siguiente eso se compense, ya que parece que por fin se reúnen ciertos personajes para continuar con su aventura y unir los puntos de la información que conocen.

Sigue el enfrentamiento y es brutalmente crudo y escalofriante. La verdad se me ha encogido el corazón en varias partes de la historia. He sentido la tensión y muy pero que muy palpable la muerte rondando a los personajes.

Una auténtica masacre y adictivo a más no poder este tomo.

The Premise

In The Promised Neverland vol 10 we are mid-battle with demon hunters! Yes, its gotten epic in Neverland and this volume doesn't pause for anyone to take a breathe. This series is so incredible... any reader will know to anticipate battles between human and demon because we already witnessed Ray and Emma forced to fight for their life on the way here (in a previous volume). It's a devilish bit of foreshadowing that absolutely blows me away. And the payoff is NOW!

As each battle unfolds we are astonished at the stratagem and battle prowess that is involved. I shouldn't be surprised by how Kaiu Shirai totally whammies me but the mangaka knows how to twist and turn this brutal world and give us a compelling ride.


The Buzz

Surprisingly Emma isn't the focus in The Promised Neverland vol 10 and I felt pulled by her role. On one hand those most traumatized by the hunting grounds ought to be the biggest participants in their vengeance. And there is one character in particular who has the strongest wrong to right. On the other hand we were promised an epic battle with Leuvis and... Emma. What went down while smart, spot on to how this hunter HAD to be taken out, and fate full circle to the past I was deceived into expecting one thing and got another.

Honestly though that is how The Promised Neverland series works... they wow you, deceive you, lull you and shock you and you love every minute even if it isn't what you expect.


The Feels

What totally wowed me in The Promised Neverland vol 10 was we get a large chunk from the demon's POV!! I LOVE this and while I didn't expect to be kept in the dark about what they are thinking in the battles I was pleased to learn some history about the hunting grounds. This is tucked so seamlessly into the story that I truly am blown away. And seeing how each battle ended, experiencing Lucas' feelings seeing his kids in action, yeah I was really, really pleased at how much I enjoyed these battles.

I was quite fascinated by the way my emotions were worked over due to each demon's reaction to this hunt. Nous and Nouma about ripped my heart out at what he does and their bond. Bayon we get the history and a greater understanding of why some demons want humans to succeed. And from Leuvis' words to Emma we get a sense of what her future will be like. I loved it, I loved it, I loved it!


The Visuals

Having read volumes 1-9 in paper form I have to say that I highly urge you to just go out and buy your own copy of The Promised Neverland vol 10! The visuals are so gorgeous I just can't scream about Posuka Demizu's art enough. Seeing the demons in action was pretty incredible... but I was also wowed by the kids' expressions during the battles too! Humans are an emotional race and I felt like I was seeing their reactions in real time. And the battle shots! Some gory, brutal and realistic wounds and attacks. If you were waiting to see if this series goes high octane... well I can safely say the wait has been worth it!

The Promised Neverland vol 10 is a great addition to a series that wows me every volume. What I most like is how satisfying each volume feels because the pace is quick, the stakes are high, the opposition is intense and the art so, so detailed! This is a story that will keep the twists, shocks and payoffs high and well worth the read.

Not my favorite in the series.
But I'm up to volume 10, so a 3 star was bound to happen sometime.

Too much action, and not enough plot in this one for me. But this one might be the most brutal one yet.
I am also not keen on following Emma so much. I want to know how Phil is, how is Mother and literally anybody else doing.

Now I wait for volume 11.

No puedo creer dos cosas: la primera, que ya completé la mitad de esta serie de veinte volúmenes, y la segunda, la manera en que finalizó este volumen en particular.
No puedo decir que el volumen avanza mucho la historia en general: es la continuación del levantamiento de los niños contra los demonios. Pero ahora el combate se centra en torno a Bayon y Leuvis, dos demonios que adquieren un poco más de profundidad como personajes y nos demuestra que para muchos demonios, cazar humanos es algo más que un ejercicio de sadismo: también es un acto intrínseco a su cultura, y reemplazarlo por cultivarlos fue algo, en su punto de vista, indigno.
¡Parece que en el próximo volumen tendremos la confrontación final con Leuvis!

Que cosa tan wow

Ame este volumen demasiado. Estos niños logran engañar mi mente. Me he sorprendido un monton. Quiero ver como concluye esta cazeria.

For the latest installment of "wow, them kids are screwed," we actually see this volume end on a good(?)[citation needed] note. Our protagonists actually managed to put-up a fight despite losing some numbers, but we see this story arc's big bad actually not full-out kill everyone so we have to take that as a win in 'Promised Neverland' territory. I have not enjoyed a shōnen series this much in a long time; this title is trying to displace One-Punch Man as my must-read manga (it may already have).

This volume and the previous one was so intense and badass, I was holding my breath and hoping the kids would survive. Absolutely perfect

This is actually the first ongoing series I've read in my manga endeavors, and so this is the first time I've been current and then forced to wait for the next installment of the series. I'm used to just getting the next volume and plowing through. Which sucks because I really love this series.

That said, this wasn't my favorite volume. Like a few others have said, it's a bit too action heavy at the expense of plot. The conflict in this specific volume is really simple: either the children kill the demons or the demons kill the children. Yet it's drug out across the whole volume, which creates the counterintuitive effect of large amounts of action being boring.

I get the sense the series is nearing it's conclusion, which I would personally support. The #1 downfall with all serialized story mediums, in my opinion, is that they go on too long. I'd rather see the artists realize their vision than begin milking the series popularity or pandering to its fans. So we'll see.

This volume was a bit confusing for me. The short recap at the beginning of each chapter is a bit annoying and sometimes I wasn't sure what really happened and what was only an imagination so I have no idea who died and who is still alive.

Other than that I've enjoyed this volume and I am looking forward to the next one.

This continues to be a good series. There can be a lot of dialogue at times, but I don't feel like it really detracts, at least in these later volumes. I'm definitely interested to see how the fight with Levus plays out!

DEUS EX RAY AND GEEZER, BITCHES!!!

Ahhh yis, my boys are back and ready to kick some demon ass, woot woot!!

Okay, okay, on a more serious note, this volume was incredible for a multitude of reasons, but the two major ones were the heightened emotions on both sides and the phenomenal use of shadow to create tension. Let's start with the emotions.

While it's only briefly mentioned, Nigel is disgusted with how distraught Nouma is for Nous's death. As far as I can remember, this is the first time a demon has shown any semblance of sadness for his/her comrade's death, and Nouma's reaction is easily the strongest so far. That being said, I loved how disgusted Nigel was since he himself mentions that the demons gleefully killed his friends and family and thus have no right to be heartbroken over losing one of theirs. And yet, I greatly appreciate Nouma's reaction because, as I previously mentioned, the series has not shown any demon emotionally react to any of their kind being killed, which sets them up to be cold-hearted asshats (I mean, they are, but that's beside the point). Having at least ONE of the demons react strongly to one of their kind dying gives the species as a whole more layers rather than making them unfeeling assholes. It's a small touch, but one I really appreciate.

The second thing I want to discuss is how well shadows were used to create tension in this volume. Granted, shadows are expertly used throughout this series, but the scene were Leuvis is walking down the street looking for Pepe was INTENSE because of the shadow's placement in that scene. Not only that, Leuvis's clearly inhuman appearance contrasted with the cheerful looking buildings and bright, sunny day makes this whole scene not only tense but disturbing. Also, the hunt in the underground tunnel with Bayon used shadows well to emphasize the cramped space and lack of light, making it a little difficult to see who all was there. Brilliantly handled scenes that really show the tension of each situation.

That's all for now. Looking forward to the climatic conclusion to this arc!

Llegamos al clímax de este arco más flojito en The Promised Neverland y nos situamos en medio de una peliaguda batalla contra los demonios de Goldy Pond. Un décimo volumen repleto de acción, planes, estratagemas y peleas que nos deja con la miel en los labios por la batalla que todos esperamos ver: Emma vs Lewis.

Una décima entrega que pierde el foco de Emma en favor de algún niño residente en Goldy Pond, lo que, a mi parecer, le hace perder bastante fuerza dado que la cercanía y el cariño hacia los mismos es bastante inferior. Solo le salva un capítulo visto desde un demonio, ahondando un poco en el porqué de dichas cacerías. Y también los dos últimos capítulos, que ponen toda la -esperable- carne en el asador para cerrar el arco.

A nivel artístico, decir algo más sobre el diseño, calidad y espectacularidad de Posuka Demizu en cuanto al arte se me antoja repetitivo. Es un fuera de serie. Veremos cómo cierra este arco, si volvemos a ver a nuestros queridos niños de GF, y como continua todo esto.

¡Viva el shônen adictivo y pasa páginas!

tek solukta bitirdim! bu serinin en sevdiğim yanı, hikayenin temposunun hiç düşmemesi ve sürekli bir gerilimi üst düzeyde tutması. ayrıca, insanlarla yapılan anlaşmanın iblisler üzerindeki etkilerine dair backstory kısımları hikayeyi daha da derinleştirmiş. böyle flashback'ler ve geçmişe dair detaylar daha çok olsa keşke.

this one started off slow but it got better as it went on. the fights were super fun & i’m excited for the next one! also officially half way through the series, exciting!
