description I love all things, Natalie Bennett. In fact, she may be the only author whose books I have read every single one of. They are always entertaining. They are always twisted. They are always full of blood, gore, and all manner of sick debauchery. They have crazy perverted characters. They have smokin' hot sex (some more than others). To sum it up, even a less than impeccable book still guarantees you an enjoyable read.

So naturally, I enjoyed this one. In fact, probably up to 85% I would say I loved it. However, I have the same complaint about this one that I have had for the last couple of books this author has released. This story felt underdeveloped. I felt like this book needed at least another fifty pages or so of fleshing out. There are several HUGE bombs dropped in the last 15% of the book in which there is little to no explanation given. Just...BAM...BAM...BAM...THE END. I felt like I needed some of those bombs explained a little more thoroughly since I was left with about 5000 questions and a whole lot of confusion.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that maybe we will get more answers in the next book. However, the author said this one doesn't end on a cliffhanger (I sort of have to disagree with that), and the next book involves a different couple, so who knows. In any case, I do know that yours truly will be in the front of the line saying...GIMME...GIMME...GIMME. (lol). description

'DEVILS WITH HALOS' is the first book in Natalie Bennett's 'Malignant' series. It is spoken in 'Dual Perspectives.

The beginning of this gripped me by the throat, my heart rate sped up, my anxiety levels spiked, and I honestly even had to set it aside and restart it back in the morning due to it not being the best subject matter before bed. I could imagine the fear going through these four friends as their vacation takes a turn for the worst. I wanted, needed, screamed for the author just to stay in that scene for a wee bit longer, just to build it up just that little bit more.

Then the kidnapping occurs, I'm still in the zone, full out loving this and what the author has created, but then as I progressed further into the book it all just fell short for me and I'm left feeling just that tad wee bit deflated, like a balloon that's been left abandoned in the sun too long.

It started to feel rushed, scenes were left undeveloped, like a cliffhanger we were left hanging, I needed more information, I also didn't get the heroines and heros connection we were just told they had a previous connection and that was that, I would've liked more background particulars about the two of them since this was their story I just found that part lacking, it almost felt like there was a book before this that I'd missed out on and like a previous book by this author it just didn't tick the box of a full length novel, it was a very quick, short read.

I know it's just seems like I've been pinpointing negatives these are only small things that if developed more would've for me been an outstanding book. Because there were some elements in this book that were really good..

As usual, this particular author managed to deliver me a story that I really did enjoy: it wasn't perfect but there was still more pros for me here than cons.
I am going to be vague here as I'm not really sure how to adequately describe Devils With Halos the first standalone story in the loosely related Malignant series.
But what I can say is this was very much Natalie Bennetts usual style: a story chocked full of misdirects and unapologetic savagery where as usual she wallows in her debauched style of debased Viciousness.
This is a celebration of all things brutal and broken and I really did devour every morsel here obsessively inhaling in one complete sitting.
What could up my rating here probably a bit of added length and some extra clarification.
I felt this finished rather quickly without going into the bigger picture I am hoping this is expanded on in the next instalment to maybe shed some much-needed light.
On consideration, I am ever so excited to see where this new series is actually heading.
Great start: oh and please be aware this book contains no redeemed anti-heros.
What we are dealing with here is positively abhorrent behaviour with dub-con and non-con throughout know your own limits.
I voluntary reviewed an Arc of Devils With Halos (Malignant #1).
All opinions expressed here are entirely my own.

I loved this book. And not just because Natalie wrote it, but because its different and unique. I was in the worst book funk. And usually i would read something out of my comfort zone to get me reading again. But nothing worked until I read this. Natalie is my go to for any dark read. Anything i read by her makes me feel 100% like myself and dont have to hise my dark soul. Im sitting here wondering how long do i have to wait for more from her. Because im slightly addicted. I love every book and series natalie's written but i dont know which one is my favorite anymore

Another wild tale from Bennett and I might be starting to question her sanity.

This is not light, anywhere, it is not a romance. It is a dark and twisted tale that is not all the way done being told yet. There is a kidnapping that I still think we are missing pieces of. There is a crazy, pseudo-religious group that is about to go through "changes." There is sex and debauchery and all kinds of messed up lessons.

I felt a little lost when I got to the end. There are a lot of pieces at play, some we have not learned the full story about. Then once I got to the end, after holding my breath for the last 15 or so percent, I was disappointed there was not more pages. I couldn't believe that was it...where is the rest...I still ave questions. Not that this is a cliffhanger, because it's not in the traditional sense, there is just stuff that we don't know yet.

Bennett has created another dark world, that is full of twists and turns. The overall story is nowhere near done and I am eager to see what boundaries are pushed next time. Even though I feel like his one touched on all the dark and depraved places it could. If you are looking for something a lot different and completely messed up and have no triggers, then this is it. If you want love and redeemable characters then move along. For me, I can't wait to see where this journey goes.

Devils with Halos is a dark and twisted I read in one sitting I just couldn’t put it down from the very first page you think you know what is going on then BAM you just didn’t see that coming. I love this authors books she isn’t afraid to push limits which is what I love about her books I’m not going to go into details of this story I don’t want to ruin it for you.
I liked the characters and I can’t wait for the next books in this series. This book will have you on the edge of your seat until the very last page it is pretty fast-paced.
If you are a fan of dark and twisted Stories then I highly recommend this book to you I am dying to get my hands on the other books.

I’m really not sure how to review this book. On one hand I was hooked and saddened when I realized that it was a shorter read, but on the other hand it was as dark and twisted as I hoped it would be. Ryker and Faith were great twisted characters and the plot was intriguing. I really feel like I’m left wondering a lot of things. I know there will be more books in this series but from a note in the back it will be from different characters POVs. I’m not sure how I feel about that yet but I’m sure I’ll find out when the next one comes out. This book isn’t for the faint of heart so be warned. 4 stars #2OCCJD

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

We were taken in the middle of the night. They called it an institution for the diseased. Our choices were no longer our own. Our bodies became their exclusive property. Our lived no longer mattered. We'd all done terrible things. We all had demons. We all had secrets. And the truth would destroy everything.

This is a dark book that is full of twists and turns and will keep you on the edge of your seat. You will find out what is going on along with the main character Faith. There is no guessing and even if you try your going to be so far off base that it is not even funny. I do not want to give anything away in this book. I went in blind and feel like your better off knowing nothing. If you love dark books that keep you on your toes then you do not want to miss Devils with Halos

My rating: 4.5

First book of the Malignant series, Devils With Halos by Natalie Bennett is as dark and disturbing as is promised in the blurb. Which I'm quickly finding out is my new favorite to read. Although this is my first of this author's work so I'm not entirely sure if the storyline is tied to any other books already out. A few times I felt like I was missing something but I do know I'm completely hooked by not only this story but the writing in general and will gladly be looking into everything else by her.

Along with all the sin and depravity in Devils With Halos is a lot of suspense that kept me glued to the pages. Sadly the story ended way too soon for me and with so much left unsaid that had my curiosity soaring through the roof. I do love there is not one but three anti heroes introduced but again with such little time there wasn't nearly enough to learn as much as I wanted. I'm hoping this is one continuous storyline because I'm dying to learn all the answers to what came up in Devils With Halos. A great new series for those who crave dark, I'm crossing my fingers more is quickly coming soon.

Bennett has slain once again!

Devils with Halos is a dark and twisted story. It was extremely hard to put down! I only fell victim to it twice: one my eyes were closing on their own and the second was when it was finished. Also, I made my family wait for dinner because I was so immersed in this new world!

The characters are super intriguing, and I couldn't help but wonder where all of this was going! I loved how it gave off Savages vibes too. It appeals to my dark soul!

This is one series I cannot wait to get my hands on!

Warning: This is an extremely dark and thrilling read with trigger type material. Enter at your own risk. Due to the many twists and turns, I've decided not to go into a full depth review right now. I'll come back after release week and give a complete rundown on what I loved and the few issues I had. For now, here's a sneak peek of what I thought of Devils With Halos.

Ryker and Faith's story isn't for the lighthearted, in fact this story is downright twisted and lethal. There were several points in this book that I had to put my kindle down and take a breath, my stomach legit rolled. I've read some extremely dark themed books but I've yet to read anything that was so monumentally dark like this one. She took dark to a whole new playing field.

Natalie Bennett is a brand spanking new-to-me author. After reading the blurb and seeing the beautifully cryptic cover for Devils With Halos, I couldn't resist and I knew I had to request an arc and get my hands on this story.

At first I was really intrigued, my fear meter took a major spike and honestly this book scared the shit out of me.... It was like a horror movie playing out in my head. Natalie Bennett definitely knows what she's doing when it comes to being able to get the visual aspect across to her readers. This isn't your typical romance.

Towards the middle and ending of the novel I started to loose interest in the characters. Which led to me feeling that this novel had to much shock factor. I wanted a little more context. I wish she would have focused more on past points that were briefly talked about and gave flashbacks so we as readers could understand Ryker's actions and better understand Faith's condition. There was just way to much going on at the very end for me to truly comprehend everything.

Overall, I liked Devils with Halos, but, I didn't love it. But, If you're into dark chilling themes, give this one a chance. You never know you may love it.

"Within his eyes was a coldness he no longer bothered to veil, a seductively sinister promise of what lay ahead."

This is one of those books that you dive in without much of an idea of what's ahead, and what you experience is so much more than you bargained for!! I can't even really describe the type of story exactly, except it was shrouded in mystery, closely held secrets, brutal, gritty happenings, and a cast of dangerous, powerful, sexy men that pulled me in by the end of the first chapter. I plan to devour this series completely, it was over too soon, I needed more, it was just really, really darkly captivating. It seems like more will be revealed in coming books, and I absolutely cannot wait.

"In my mind, even as the saint of a man I thought he was disintegrated to show the devil before me, I couldn't cut the cord that tethered me to the delusion we belonged together."

Now while this was anything but hearts and flowers, it's still my favorite type of story in all it's glorious wrongness and am unapologetic about loving it! Now, as always, if you aren't a fan of swimming in the dark, don't jump in, but I thought the twists, turns, heart-stopping action, and the seduction of an anti-hero was off the charts!! More Please!! I thank the Author for providing a copy to review.

Devil’s With Halos by International Bestselling Author Natalie Bennett is the first book in the Malignant series. This book throws you into a world of desires and lies.

Faith is riddled with personal demons and addictions. Struggling with her sobriety, she fights to recover memories that are most likely gone for good. She’s kind, seems introverted and a bit self-absorbed.

Ryker is confident and charismatic. He knows what he desires and how to get what he wants.

Faith and three of her closest friends are gifted a two-week retreat. Something she feels they all need. What starts off as a vacation quickly turns into a nightmare when they’re kidnapped in the shadows of night. With no response when they question their captors, they’re left to assume the worst. Can they all survive what their darkest desires have in store for them or will their secrets be the death of them?

If you’ve read Natalie before you know how depraved her books can be and if not, this is the perfect place to start as she introduces you to the world of Malignant. It’s not as dark as she can go but it brings out the light desires you try to hide the most - sometimes even from yourself.

I just love the way she describes our deviant impulses and the delight we take away when we get to act on them. Even the shame we feel at times afterward. It’s vivid and written with beautiful detail. The story is from both main characters POVs. I enjoyed getting in their heads and experiencing their motivations. It’s fast-paced, gripping and will have you on the edge of your seat waiting breathlessly for what’s to come. The chemistry between Faith and Ryker is off the charts! They send sparks flying with a look and their clothes vanish with a simple touch. As the story unravels, the depth of the characters pulls us in. We gradually learn their secrets one by one hoping to survive until the end. Each breath feels like it could be your last. I’d recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading about their deepest, darkest desires.

If you’ve read Natalie Bennett before, you know what you’re in for: moral decay, violence, and mind games that blur every line between love, lust, and madness. Devils With Halos is no exception — it’s the opening act of the Malignant series and it definitely earns the “not a romance” warning on the author’s note.

Faith and three friends (Lilly, Camilla, and Marcy) go on what should be a simple girls’ retreat — but it turns into a nightmare. After stopping at a creepy gas station, they’re ambushed, drugged, and abducted. Faith wakes up half-naked in a marble ballroom with her friends and other captives, guarded by armed men.

Then the real horror starts: one girl is executed on the spot, and Faith’s friend Marcy loses control and is sedated and dragged away. The ringleader? Ryker Silas — the same man Faith once trusted and secretly loved. Seeing him again, only to realize he’s orchestrated the kidnapping, is a gut-punch moment that sets the tone for everything after.

Ryker’s cold, dominant control of Faith veers straight into non-consensual territory. The scenes between them are graphic and deeply uncomfortable — part of the point, as Bennett is exploring control, guilt, and trauma rather than romance. Faith’s attraction to him despite her horror is what makes the story so psychologically twisted. Ryker insists she’s “where she needs to be,” dropping cryptic lines about sin, virtue, and a “chapel,” hinting at a cult-like setup that blends wealth, religion, and depravity.

By the end, nothing is resolved. We learn little about the wider organization behind Ryker or the other captives’ fates, and Faith’s future is left ominously uncertain because we find out that Ryker and Faith had a daughter who is in Ryker's hands and he blackmails Faith to accept him in order to be in the girl's life. The rest it’s clearly a setup for book two, Angels With Horns.

Lately, when I finish a Natalie Bennett book, all I want to say is fuuuuuuuuu... Yeah. This one is no different. I love the really dark cult thing that Natalie Bennett has been doing lately. It lets her really get into all kinds of conflict and lets her create her own society and all. It also leads to characters who are downright evil and who live by their own code and use words differently than the rest of the world does. And, curse me to Hades if she doesn't make it work so, so, so well.

Faith is a recovering addict. After a couple of years of trying to put her life back together after having fallen into the bottle and needles, she's going out with friends to spend some time at a resort. On their way to the resort, they have to stop to get gas and then their trip turns into some kind of horror movie.

Ryker is the man who Faith just can't resist, and she's the one woman who Ryker needs to have. She was best friends with his younger brother, but he OD'ed. Now, Ryker is ready to do what he has been wanting and needing to do, and Faith and Malignant are going to help me.

Poor Faith. I feel sorry for her. I can see where she's trying to get everything back under control, but she doesn't know that she's standing in a bog and the ground under her feet isn't anywhere as solid as she needs it to be. There are so many surprises and weird corners in this book. Then again, it is a Natalie Bennett book, and she apparently has some really weird corners in her mind. I'm just glad that she decided to open them up and share them with us.

I can't wait to read the next books in this series so I can learn more about what's going on. Natalie has just whetted my appetite and I'm so hungry.

Thanks to the author for providing ARC in exchange for honest review.

OK, so this is not the first time I came to read from Natalie Bennett. She is by far the darkest author I've read. Whenever I start reading her book, my heart will start flipping over. Devil's with Halo is not too different from her other books.

4.2 stars for this book, as Natalie Bennett style, the story is very dark indeed and full of the degrading scene of women. Natalie truly never disappoint me. I love how dark she can write, us human have dark desires, we all do. To what bottom line do we care to sacrifice our friend's life? How far will you go for salvation?

Faith and Ryker are the MCs in this book. So far, I do not have much interest in Faith but I rather want to know more about Ryker. He is so mysterious, I really do enjoy reading about him. He is the darkest and calculating character in this story. All I can say is, devils breed devils. There's nothing you can do to cover your sin, not unless YOU.ARE.DEAD.

Charm is deceptive.
Beauty is deceitful.
Freedom is an illusion.
Survival is subjective.

These words are beautiful yet it brings out the horror everyone would felt once you are kidnapped. Faith and her friends all have their own demons, we all have. And so far I do like how the story is going though I do feel a bit dull with the middle part. The story goes on slower than I expected. Compare to other books by Natalie I believe this will not be the top of her achievements. But I still am her fan since her mind is a whole different set from this world and I like it her way. One other thing, I do expect to see fewer mistakes in Natalie's book in the future, however, I will keep one reading her books.

Usually when I read works by this author, I never know what I will be getting. The characters are never one dimensional. They don't have follow a conventional playbook. The game master already knows the end game and pawns are never known until close to the end. I really liked Devils with Halos. I tried to make the connections between characters. Who was important? Who might be easily disposed of?

Faith and Ryker have a complicated history that is drenched in sin. Faith is tried to suppress her demons time and time again. While Ryker was all about playing with his. There wasn't a whole lot of sexual tension between the main characters. Yes, there were a few sexual scenes but it wasn't scorching. Every scene had meaning and it couldn't be easily defined as just sexual. I wish that the author added a few more chapters. I don't know... I felt like I was missing something. Was Ryker only playing Faith? Did he care for her at all? Maybe some questions will be answered in book two. Maybe not because book two will be focused on Bishop and Camilla. I wonder how Camilla be taken because Bishop ain't no angel. He works along side the devil.

Oh wow oh wow where do I start?

Natalie has done it again with a brilliant book that I devoured in a few hours. It's a quick read but is jammed packed full of everything you expect from Natalie.

Faith has had her troubles in the past and been to rehab to get clean, so when her and her friends decide to go away together to a resort she feels like her life is finally back on track. So when in the middle of the night they are all kidnapped while stopping for gas they have no idea what's in store.

Ryker is the guy behind the kidnapping and boy oh boy does he want Faith and will stop at nothing to have her. They slept together once before as she was best friends with his younger brother who OD'ed, hence why faith went in to rehab in the first place as they were doing drugs together. Now Ryker had Faith firmly where he wants her and is not letting her go this time.

There are so many twist and turns in this book and some secrets come out that you don't see coming at all. Natalie is just amazing at how she can pull you in to the story like you are watching it unfold before your eyes. I cannot wait for the next book in the series to see where it goes.

The brilliantly twisted Natalie Bennett has penned another dark story that fed my inner dark & twisty self with the new series Malignant. Devils With Halos is story that serves up the extremely original dark undertones that Ms. Bennett is so famous for, which definitely has me dropping all kinds of new versions of f-bombs. I don't know how to describe it without giving away the plot so bear with me here. I will say that the heroine is named Faith, while the hero, and I use that term loosely or maybe more like anti-hero is better suited, is quite...well you're better off not knowing. There's blood, gore, chaos, twists, turns, darkness, and revelations. And at the end of the day, so many more questions. So yeah, that's all I got because I don't even know where my head is at to be honest. All I can hope for myself is that my questions are answered in the next book. So in conclusion, if you're brave enough to face the darkness, as it's not for the faint of heart, then I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Dark and riveting

This story had its hooks in from the beginning when a former addict decides to take a much needed vacation with her best friends at a resort and instead they find themselves being ran off the road and kidnapped by men in masks with guns.

It continues to keep my attention throughout, and I do not want to give away any plot details or spoilers, but there seemed to be a bit missing. The ‘victim’ goes from one rollercoaster of emotions to the next without much building in between to rationalize the quick change. I felt there was too much story missing that would have made it easier to follow or relate to. Maybe because it was a shorter story, a quick read, we didn’t have time for all that, but I just felt it could have been amazing, as everything I’ve read from Natalie Bennett is, but there was too much rushed too soon and details may have helped.

Other than that it was still better than many other books and worth the read! I love Natalie’s books and will continue to gobble up every book she publishes!!!

"The scars on my heart and soul told a story I wasn’t strong enough to speak aloud."

Devils With Halos is a twisted read that leaves you blind to what is going on. You find things out as soon as Faith does, there is no guessing. You'd be wrong. I was completely swept up in this dark and depraved story. I was lost as much as Faith was. When the secrets came about, I was blown away by the evil that lurked where I least expected it. Ryker was an evil I could see, feel, and knew. I instantly loved him. Faith has a way to go before she will let let demons have free reign. I loved her tenacity though.

Devils With Halos will have you on the edge of you seat the entire time. Trying to figure out what secret will be next, who is the betrayer, and the real deal behind Malignant. I'm already impatiently needing the next book. Natalie Bennett has a way of making you fall for the evilest and sickest people, all while waiting with a bloodthirsty heart for the next shoe to drop.

Devils with Halos (Malignant book 1) by
Natalie Bennett is a bizarre tale of Faith a young lady who has finally got herself together after abusing drugs and alcohol. She and her friends are going on a girls trip to bond and repair their friendship. On the way to the resort they stop at a deserted gas station. Faith swears when they are driving away she sees a man's face looking out of the window of an abandoned van near the gas station. Back on the road they get run off the road and ambushed. Waking up only in her bra and panties the nightmare begins. When finally confronted by her captors she knows one of them. What is going to happen to them? Who are these people and is this some type of sick cult? This is a sick and twisted story that had this reader's head spinning. Pay attention. A lot of stuff going on. This is the first book in the series and I am curious as to the direction the author will be taking it. 4 stars

Well holy shit batman. We are hitting the ground running right out of the gate. Psychological twists and turns, secrets and an unhinged hot male who thinks he is the mother effing judge and jury. Ryker Silas is the Supreme; superior among his subjects that follow a doctrine created to absolve them of their sins and allow them to embrace their demons and learn to play nice with those demons. Faith will need to decide whether her belief and trust can be placed with Ryker and his religion.

Bennett always brings complexity and originality to her stories and I always love to dive right in to her books without reading the synopsis. I know that what she brings will nurture my need for something distinctive and darker than some of the other available reads. Devils with Halos has turned out to be a premium takeoff for a new series for this author and I am giddy for the possibilities and potential for this saga.

Another dark and twisted story from Natalie Bennett with Devils with Halos. It was a
gripping, fast paced read, short but well written and easily finished in one sitting.
This author is not afraid to push the limits in her books so anything is possible in her amazing story telling, and I wasn’t disappointed with Devils with Halos. No spoilers here, I’ll just mention there’s several young women and add some handsome men to the mix and Ms. Bennett has a story.
The characters were very different, which you will see if you read the book, which I highly recommend and their situations were extremely twisted and dark.
This is a book for readers who enjoy of dark and twisted stories. It has a passable ending, it all was a little fast for me. But I’m looking forward the to following instalment in the series though.

The forward for Devils with Halos warns you it will be a slow burn. What it doesn’t tell you is that it will have you riveted from the beginning. Natalie Bennett has drawn this out like a dark torture. You know it’s going to get painfully angst ridden but you can’t help yourself. You just, need more.

I got to the end of Part One and I didn’t even pause, I rushed straight through to Part Two! Adulting tried to get in my way but I was prepared. Tea in hand I was glued to my kindle. Compared to some of her other books this is gentle suspense and I hate it and yet I LOVE IT! I cannot wait for the next books in the series!

Natalie Bennett was already a one click author for me but this just cemented that fact!

Natalie Bennett continues to pump out dark thriller after dark thriller, without missing a beat. Devils with Halos gives us deep, dark and devious. Being abducted is terrifying in itself, but what if it just so happens to be by someone you know? What have you done to deserve something so heinous and devious? Who in the world could want to do this to a person? Was Faith chosen by Ryker? Was it planned? Oh, but it’s something much more sinister than that. Definitely something that I did not see coming. I can typically call the plot in a story….not this one. Ryker kept surprising me, page after page. I can’t wait to see what the next in the series, Angels with Horns, has in store for us. I know it will be a thrill worth waiting for.

I honestly don't know really what I can say about this book, it's dark it's gruesome, and it's fabulous! This us a new stand alone but interconnected series that I'm excited to be a part of. Ryker I can't figure out if I love or hate him, and Faith I'm curious to see where she goes in this series. Camilla she seems like she's going to be awesome and I can't wait to see her and Bishop in action..
Few cons though I'm very confused on the basis of the plot and hope to have more light she'd on the matter itself. I'm very curious about what I'm going to encounter with this new gang.. Can't wait to see what she has next!
