No Regrets by Julie Moffett
Lexi Carmichael mystery series #10. Best read in series order. STEM
Bridesmaid at best friend Basil’s wedding causes Lexi a lot of angst. Picking up a package and delivering it for a client should be easy, but strange instructions and men following Lexi says otherwise. Accidentally crashing the honeymoon is just a line item in the spreadsheet that Lexi is keeping on the calamity she brings to every situation.

Highly humorous situations in this episode of Lexi and her job and friends. I love the spreadsheet she is keeping even though she should be looking at it as all the hardships she has endured.

The last restaurant scene with her choking on (what she thinks is) a strawberry in the chocolate mousse was priceless.
I’ll be reading the next in the series soon.

No Regrets by Julie Moffett was another outstanding addition to this series! I am always excited when a new one comes out in this series and this one did not disappoint. I sat down to read it and didn't get up again until I was finished with it.

Lexi is Basia's maid of honor and has had all the trials and tribulations that go along with those duties - many of them were totally outside Lexi's comfort zone but she survived and actually thrived while performing her duties. Unfortunately, her "little black cloud" did appear before the wedding but was quickly taken care of by Slash.

An engaging mystery that sped along until I was breathless. After the wedding Lexi takes on what should be a routine assignment; but, of course, lands in another dangerous situation. There were so many emotional moments between the characters as each one seemed to be reaching crossroads in their lives but this only showed how each character is growing and maturing within the series. Ms. Moffett's descriptive writing made me feel like I was right there throughout the story. Lexi and Slash's relationship grew by leaps and bounds during this book. I cheered, I sighed and I even teared up at the end. There is also a hint at the end of the book as to Slash and Lexi's next adventure. I am no geek but I still want to step into their world and become friends with all of them.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book from Carina Press via NetGalley. All of the above opinions are my own. I want to sincerely thank Carina Press for allowing me to read and review this book.

The Lexi Carmichael series by Julie Moffett is my favorite series. So when I saw this beauty on Netgalley I immediately clicked on the request button like some crazy person. Ofcourse I also have it on pre-order for January 2018!

What's happening for Lexi in this 10th book? Basia and Xavier are getting married in this book, so romance is in the air! Of course nothing goes without a hitch... and Lexi can add some data in her 'Little Black Cloud' spreadsheet. She is gathering data about the trouble that seems to follow her!

I won't spoil anything about the adventures in this book, but I will say that it gave me so many feels.... sigh... I wanted to highlight so many sentences. Loved loved loved this book. Now I have to wait a whole year for the next.

Quote: 'That, cara, is what I see in your eyes when I look at you. I see my future.' (another sigh).

And (sorry, little spoiler) it ends on a small cliffhanger. Nothing major, but enough to make you jittery and aching for more.

*** I requested and received an ARC via Netgalley. You can be sure this is my honest review. Love this series! ***

Lexi's best friend Basia is finally getting married to another of her friend's Xavier. Everything seems to be going smoothly, which for Lexi who always seems to have the word trouble stamped on her forehead as, like Stephanie Plum, it looks to follow her. She doesn't go looking for it; it goes looking for her. Her friends and boyfriend Slash, think that she is worrying for nothing. However, Lexi's gut instincts are right as there are some strange big scary dudes at the hotel and when one of their packages gets mixed up with Basia's wedding gifts, they will do anything they can to get it back. This hurdle eventually ends, and Basia and Xavier finally say "I DO" and are off on a secret honeymoon. While on their honeymoon Lexi is given a top-secret package delivery job and what do you know when she arrives it's on the same island and hotel as Basia and Xavier. It also is revealed that it is connected to the packages being re-routed and messed up. With having to keep this mission top secret, Lexi doesn't know who she can turn too and when things get too heated, it looks like for once she may be over her head a bit too much. Also, the book ended on a cliffhanger as somebody knows Slash's real name and where he lives. This made me want the next book as I was like oooh are we finally going to get to know Slash's real name and his background story. If you love romantic suspense filled with humor, then you will enjoy the Lexi Carmichael series by Julie Moffett

No regrets? Not really what I’m thinking right now.

10% action
90% bullshit.

Useless, predictable, boring, unfunny, freaking repetitive annoying, really really really annoying and far fetched bullshit.

I did not smile once. Not once. The same things keep happening to her, you can guess everything that’s going to happen (well no, I hadn’t actually guessed more than half of the book would be about a frickin wedding we sincerely don’t care that much about, so kudos at least for that I guess?), it becomes more and more unbelievable and less and less funny. At the end I sincerely hoped she would just die already. And I was funnily still pissed at her for not respecting the non disclosure contract she signed and telling just about EVERYONE everything. Girl, you had one job, no matter what you learned about your client, you signed. I hope he sues. I don’t even really know why this particular point annoyed me so much when the rest of the book was juste plain garbage. But here we are.

I used to love this series so much. Why?! Whyyyyyyyyyy 😭

No Regrets is as outstanding as the other books in this awesome series! Julie Moffett creates amazing characters, especially Lexi, who pull me into their world. While I am very different from our favorite nerd, I can well identify with the way her mind works. Basia's wedding presents a continuing challenge for Lexi to fit into the "normal" world. Not that weddings are all that normal even without her need not to be with too many people. This time, she has to face the ultimate horror, yes kids! This realistic and pretty normal encounter alone would make it worth reading the book. Hilarious as only Lexi can be. The wedding brings a few other mishaps but that one is my favorite because it is so her.
After the wedding, Lexi's life returns to her normal. That means adventure and the unexpected lurks just around the corner or right in her face. There are so many wonderful interactions between Lexi and each of her favorite people that I would have scored it a five if nothing else has stood out as awesome. Luckily I loved almost every thing about the book and enjoyed the rest!!!

I was thrilled to get an ARC of No Regrets from Carina via NetGalley.com. The opinion stated is all mine and reflect my love of the book. I just finished reading my personal copy!

Don 't know how I have missed this series. Here this is #10 and I totally enjoyed this book and want to go back and start the series...from the beginning. Lexi Carmichael is a geek treading in unfamiliar waters as maid of honor for her best friends' wedding. But despite her.spreadsheet, her little black cloud keeps attracting trouble. From pelicans to the mob, Lexi handles it all. Lots of fun!

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

LOVED this book!!! This is one of my favorite series and each book is better than the last one. Lexi is the geeky nerd who works in cyber security and totally feels like a social misfit. Nothing illustrates this more than the beginning of the book with Lexi as the maid of honor at her best friend's wedding.

When Lexi accepts a routine assignment at work, it turns out to be anything but routine and she ends up in the middle of all kinds of craziness.

I love the characters in this novel, from Lexi, to Slash, her too sexy for words boyfriend, to the even more geeky Zimmerman brothers and the somewhat normal Basia. The author made me feel connected with them and invested in their story. Add in the humor and smart dialogue and you've got a great book. I particularly love how the characters are intelligent - especially Lexi, who, despite being socially awkward, approaches every situation from a position of intelligence and logic. The is a refreshing difference from so many of the silly heroines popular in so many books.

This is a must read and fans of the genre will love this book. The author is on my must read authors' list.

This is a good addition to the series.
It's Basia's wedding so that's sweet. There are developments in Elvis's relationships and also between Lexi and Slash plus another adventure.

Not as good as previous

As much as I have enjoyed this series previously, this one just didn't measure up. The book was more than 50 percent before the story really picked up. A lot of the book had too much description or moved too slowly. And there was too much mentioning stuff about being friends, best friends, etc. Occasionally, friends will cover that--perhaps once--in a special moment, but it was so repetitive. Elvis felt like the author was trying to find a way to work him into the book. It felt like a lot of surface telling without showing.

I don't know. I may be done with series all together now. I've never been fond of Slash, he basically can do everything and I don't find him that interesting, so I'm happy when Lexi is off without him. But things are getting too silly. I'm weary of Lexi getting kidnapped all the time and her cluelessness isn't endearing. These just aren't working for me anymore.

I really enjoyed the story once Lexi actually got to the office and left for her mission, but that wasn't until halfway through the book (chapter 20ish). I didn't see the point for the first 100 pages of wedding details when a chapter or two would have tied it into the mission.

I received this book as a ARC on NetGalley.

Lexi Carmichael is pretty sure she has an invisible little black cloud following her everywhere she goes but that’s not about to stop her from doing what she does best. All Lexi needs to do is make it to the end of her best friend's wedding without any qualified disasters and then she can let out the sigh if relief she’s been holding.

Of course things aren’t always so easy when you have a little black cloud following you around. Sent on the case of a missing package Lexi find herself in the British Virgin Islands without any without her usual host of handy helpers. This is, of course, when everything starts to go very very wrong. Can Lexi track down a package or will she finds herself in some very hot water?

I stumbled upon this series last year and was instantly hooked, so an opportunity to get this book early and read it have me chomping at the bit. Julie Moffett has a way of engaging a reader in a high stakes adventure while still maintaining some much needed levity. Often as series grow older, the characters drag and become less compelling and you just kind of beg for the series to end before you can barely recognize the characters. That's not the case when it comes to this series. We're ten books in with a promise of more and the characters are growing (as they should) and the plot is still able to pull a reader in and get them guessing. This another qualified success for Moffett and her storytelling.

I'm anxiously looking forward to another book in this series.

No lie, Lexi's straightforward approach to anything she doesn't understand makes me laugh. In a relationship she doesn't want to mess us? Read a book about it and develop a bullet-pointed action plan to keep her honey happy! Need to give a maid of honor speech at her best friend's wedding? Research optimal length and how to keep your audience engaged!

Seriously, Lexi makes me smile. Especially when she's getting into the WEIRDEST situations a person can get into. You know, like having to wrestle a crocodile. Or running around like a madwoman so her BFF doesn't realize she's on a covert mission that nobody's supposed to know about.

GOOD TIMES, LEXI! GOOD TIMES!

Along with the crazy shenanigans, Lexi also gets to spend some quality time with her man. The nature of their jobs means they also have more than the regular relationship stuff to figure out. Sometimes national security and non-disclosure agreements means they're required to keep things from one another. Lexi, naturally, tackles this head-on and...well, I like that about her.

As with all Lexi's adventures (or dangerous mishaps, depending on how you want to look at them), this one was a hoot. What will Lexi's future hold? Probably more entries into her "little black cloud" spreadsheet.

Excellent.

Lexi’s mishaps always make me laugh. I mean, I’m clumsy but at least I’m not that clumsy. Her Little Black Cloud keeps her in danger, but at least she can use logic and her brain to get out of it. And she has great friends to watch her back, even when she has everything under control.

This is a great book; this is the tenth book in the Lexi Carmichael Mystery Series written by Julie Moffett . This book can be read as a standalone, but once you read it you will defiantly want to go back and catch up with the other book in this series. This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night. If you are looking for a great book, then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

**I voluntarily read this ARC**

Even though this is book 10, and the first one I have read, I had no problem at all following the story. There is enough background information to help first time readers, but not so much that long time readers would get bored with repeated information. The plot was really fast moving and never dragged. There were also a lot of hilarious bits thrown in. I can't wait to read more of this series.

Well Lexi is at it again.  This time she agrees.  A "a little black cloud" follows her everywhere and she has a spread sheet of data to prove it.

Xavier and Basia are getting married.  And Lexi and Xavier are just trying to make it through their wedding duties without having too many panic attacks.  With both of them out of their comfort zones, that is easier said than done.

A mix up with a wedding gift causes Lexi and Basia to be held hostage.  Of course Slash comes to the rescue and the bad guys are caught.  Then Elvis has girl trouble, a pelican interrupts the wedding and Lexi's parents get upset about her new living arrangements.  Well you can say it is adventurous day for the gang.

Basia and Xavier go on their honeymoon, to a secret location, Lexi gets back to her job and unpacking her new home.  Her first day back at work finds Elvis's boss hiring her to retrieve a package.  It is a really suspicious task, but Finn and her agree that it should be a simple task and decide to send her.

When on her mission to retrieve the package, she starts looking into a shipping company that is losing packages.  Could be a simple inside job?  But when the trail leads to where she is it seems to be too much of a coincidence.

As she looks into the mysterious packaging issue, she runs into a bit of unexpected trouble.  The kind of trouble that can get her killed.  Yep!  She has a black cloud watching over her.  Can Lexi save herself and protect those she loves?

OMG! OMG! OMG!  What an ending!  Leaving it open for another amazing story.  Can't wait.  This book was soooo exciting.  I could not put it down.  Not even for a minute.  It was a roller coaster ride of thrills and it was so much fun.  I swear these books just get better and better.  I thought maybe they might dull a little when Lexi made her love decision, but Julie Moffett has not disappointed me.  She keeps the books interesting with all the adventures that Lexi gets into.

I have to admit I am falling in love more and more with Lexi and Slash's relationship.  It is developing beautifully.  I love it when he calls her "Cara" and speaks Italian to her.  So romantic.  LOVE IT!!!  Swoon worthy!

The characters keep developing more and more with each book.  And the adventures get more exciting.  This one had me biting my nails on the edge of my seat.  Again, could not put it down.  It flowed so smoothly and at a steady pace.  I am getting excited just thinking about everything that happened and thinking how the next book is going to go.  My imagination is running amok.

Julie Moffett is one of my absolute favorite authors.  I have read almost all of her books!  I am never disappointed.  I have to say though out of all her books the Lexi Carmichael Mysteries are my favorite.  I love the geek aspect of it.  They are full of action and adventure, love and mystery.  And let me tell you they have the best characters.  I am so in love with them.  My favorites are Lexi and Elvis with Slash coming in third.  I secretly hope one day Elvis and Lexi will wind up together.  Hey a girl can dream can't she.  If you haven't read this series then you must, because you are missing out on an adventure of a lifetime.

I enjoy this series but I have to admit, I enjoy parts of it more than others.

In this installment, Lexi is serving as bridesmaid for her best friend Basia, who is finally marrying one of Lexi’s other few close friends, Xavier Zimmerman. The role has brought about many duties and things that are outside of Lexi’s comfort zone but she’s appreciative of Basia and she wants everything to be perfect so she’s getting on with it. She can’t shake the feeling that something will go wrong though – lately Lexi has been compiling the data of what happens to her in a ‘Little Black Cloud’ spreadsheet so that she can analyse it. Lexi is the kind of person that ‘things just happen to’ and she’s determined that nothing ruin this special day.

I think these books are better when they focus on the ‘mystery’ and less on the ‘comic relief’ but that’s just personal opinion because I find that crazy incidents with animals bother the heck out of me and there are two of them in this book. The first one is kind of not so bad but the second one…..ugh, I honestly can’t believe it was even left in the book.

I really did enjoy the mystery – as I said, it’s where I feel the strengths in this series are and I always like to watch Lexi doing her thing, gathering information and sorting out things in her head and coming up with a plan. She’s very smart, she’s confident in her abilities and she definitely shines in this book. I loved her process of investigating and could ignore the distractions and silliness that kind of cut in along the way because they were just small moments and the solving of what was going on took up a far bigger portion of the book. I liked that Lexi didn’t need rescuing in this book but I also appreciated that there were people who came to make sure of it.

Lexi’s developing relationship with Slash has been a big thing for me since the third book – I wasn’t too crazy about him as an option in the first book and maybe the second but since the third I’ve been fully on board. I love that it does actually develop – a lot! They’re not just stuck in a holding pattern, she’s not torn between two guys (thankfully that part was cleared up very early on in the series) and they’ve grown as a couple, shared things about each other and moved forward. And they continue to move forward in this one, which I appreciate although once again, the manner in which it happens was kind of another one of those ‘Lexi’ moments. And I really liked the way this one ended. There’s a bit of a cliffhanger and it revolves around Slash and it looks as though the next book is going to be really interesting and quite personal. I do think that the author has done a great job really developing Lexi and Slash’s story and continuing to have it grow over numerous volumes and there’s still plenty left for them.

But this isn’t my favourite one of the series. I’m probably in the minority but I find a lot of the ‘comic’ moments contrived, like they’ve been really thought out and written purely to invoke amusement rather than unfolding naturally. None of them really felt natural and that pulls me out of the story which lessens my enjoyment of it. Lexi is really funny enough on her own. She doesn’t need ‘crazy’ things happening to her to get a laugh. And I really just appreciate her geeky, funny, intelligent side without disasters. However the way in which this book ended has made me so keen for the next book. I really need to find out what’s going to happen there.

This is a tough one for me to review. First off, don't even begin to read this if you haven't read the previous 9 books in the series. As for me, discovering the Lexi Carmichael mystery series was my BEST reading discovery of 2017. I absolutely devoured the entire series, and then waited eagerly -- almost a year -- for this to come out.

I listened to this in audio and absolutely loved the narrator. However, the story is a bit more of a mixed bag. There were many developments in the lives of the characters I've come to love. Lexi and Slash are living together, and as the book opens are at the wedding of Basia and Xavier. The wedding, and the numerous over-the-top incidents Lexi gets into during it, seemed to take up a very large part of the book. There is also growth in the life of Elvis, one of Lexi's best friends.

However, the mystery itself took a long time to develop. I didn't feel the mystery was as interesting as most of the mysteries in the earlier entries in the series. I'm afraid if I had started the series with this book, I would have stopped here. But because I've come to love the characters, I persisted, and eventually was happy with most of what happened with the characters.

Overall, I'd give this a C.

Smart but so naive, could there be a more quirky and lovable heroine than Lexi Carmichael? Every book in this series has had me laughing out loud at something outrageous Lexi has said or done. This book finally sees Xavier and Basia getting married. Yay! Lexi is struggling through her maid of honor duties with Slash by her side as the calm in the storm. After the highly eventful wedding, Lexi is looking forward to some down time and unpacking some of the boxes in her and Slash's new house. Unfortunately, she doesn't get her wish. She gets tasked with a top secret mission which she must undertake alone. What sounded like an easy mission turns out to be anything but, and it just wouldn't be a Lexi adventure without the several other unrelated and unexpected events happening simultaneously. In the end though Lexi can always count on her friends to have her back and be there just when she needs them.

The romance between Slash and Lexi has so many poignant moments in this story. I absolutely loved how their relationship progressed. Xavier and Basia got their happily ever after, and even Elvis is finally coming into his own. I love these characters, and I adore this series!

I requested an ARC from Net Galley.

Another exciting book. On to he next....

Geek girl Lexi Carmichael has tackled her share of formidable tasks, but nothing quite as daunting as serving as maid of honor at her best friend’s wedding

When I agreed to stand by my best friend, Basia, on her big day, I had no idea what I was in for. Bouquets and unflattering evening wear I can handle. But between disgruntled dates, a beach venue and suspicious packages, what else can go wrong? Oh, right—my parents don’t know I’ve moved in with Slash. Oops?

Thankfully, I’ve got everything semi under control, at least as far as Basia and Xavier know. They can leave for their honeymoon happy, knowing Elvis, Slash and I will keep things safe at home.

Meanwhile, Elvis and Xavier’s boss at ComQuest has asked X-Corp—well, me—to take a quick trip to retrieve a sensitive company package from the British Virgin Islands. No hacking involved. Just show up, accept the package and bring it home safely. A cushy assignment, and a safe one. Right?

Wrong. Things start to unravel the minute I set foot on the boat to the island. Before I know it, I’m up to my neck in thugs, sand and trouble. I’m going to have to work fast to stop the bad guys before the sun sets for good on this unexpected beach vacation…

This series is amazing! The 10th book of the series is even more amazing than the last. A Must read!

Once again Julie Moffett has hit a home run with this 10th book in one of my very favorite series. The cast of characters, Lexi, Slash, Basia, Xavier and Elvis as always keep us on our toes. With humor, mystery, kidnapping, Basia's wedding to Xavier, Elvis' love life problems, a secret job to pick up a package in the British Virgin Islands and mob involvement, we are on our way to one of the craziest, funniest adventure in this series yet! This is a fast read because you just can't put it down! Lexi is still learning how to adjust to having real feelings although in her super logical mind she needs to put all her personal "data" into a spreadsheet, she has been working on her personality and with Slash by her side, she has been making baby steps! I loved the surprise ending! This is an incredible series that once you start you want more! I can't wait for the next Lexi Carmichael adventure to begin!

Loved this book

I love this book. I have read all the Lexi books and I have to say this is one of my favorite series. That being said this book is something special. It has Lexi as the heroine in a lot of ways where in she handles the situations by coming up with last minute plans as she does in some of the other books. She still has trouble with with less dangerous things like mani/ Pedis and maracas. Her relationship with Slash is progressing. The black cloud that follows her seems to be real. She really needs the self protection moves that Slash has taught her. She tackles crocodiles, a crime family, as she is smart and always manages to handle even the most difficult and scary situations by herself but she realizes that in her life she needs Slash, that she no longer wants to be alone and they can handle anything as long as they are together.

I love this series so much! When I discovered it, I had to binge read all of them-- yes! it is that great. This installment is even better. The characters experience situations and emotions that most of us face at some point in life, which makes them seem so real.... not that I have ever met a Slash, but one can dream. Lexi is fresh-faced, appealingly honest, very 'geeky', and loyal to the end. I think those are some of her best qualities. Her friends support her emotionally and draw support from her as well--the events of this book show it, throughout the wedding activities for Basia, her bestie, and Xavier-- one half of her fav twinset. Elvis, the other half, is knee deep in girl trouble. The humor is laugh out loud, the romance-- tender and sweet. Can't wait for the installment of Lexi and her crew.

A bit of excitement, a lot of Lexi being Lexi

This tenth book in the series emphasizes the characters, their relationships and Lexi's "dark cloud" tendencies. It seems more a romance novel with a bit of international intrique. As usual the tech side of things is cutting edge, both in terms of the crime and the technology used (who doesn't love Star Trek references?). But because this story centers on Lexi dealing in social situations we get a lot of opportunities to laugh out loud at the mayhem that seems to follow her. Lexi's relationships with Slash and Basia advances as well, in a way that makes these characters fuller, and more real. While I prefer the action-centered books in the series, it was enjoyable to spend so much time just being with Lexi and crew.

I love Lexi Carmichael. She is tall and smart and a hacker geek. Slash is dark and handsome and Italian. They are an interesting couple. Both work in secretive fields. He is considered a ‘national treasure’ and has his personal secret service detail following him around. This book is a twist because it is mostly Lexi with Bashia’s wedding; then a secret assignment she can’t tell Slash about; then Slash shows up ‘to save her’ from the mob. It has lots of twists and she winds up on an island. Not sure why she saves the crew from a crocodile but it happens, doesn’t do much to move the plot but Lexi is always stepping up. You’ll love it but you must read the beginning books first. Slash and Lexi make the ideal geek couple.

I enjoyed this read much more than some of the other books in the series.

I keep ordering the Lexi Carmichael books as soon as possible. No Regrets has been a very enjoyable experience. These stories are not earth shaking literature but appeal to me I in the same way The Great British Baking Show does . Fun and totally out there where I'll never go. I can barely operate my PC, my daughter guides me through everything, laughing at me when I tell her to write it down and post it on the wall (post-it notes taped on the wall by my desk). So reading about Lexi's adventures is light and fun not deadly boring like some books I've slogged through.
