The Miracle Christmas Daddy

Rate this book
Left alone with her tiny daughter after her husband dies, Adaline is desperate to escape her grief. And so she answers an ad for a mail order bride, hoping to at least find some security for her small family. But is she really ready for a life on the frontier—and for a life with the cold and withdrawn Deputy Holden Smith? Still, Adaline has made a promise, and she does the best she can to make the marriage a happy one. But Holden has been broken by a terrible tragedy, and his heart seems closed to her efforts. And now, far from friends and home, and with Christmas coming soon, Adaline begins to fear she’s made a terrible mistake. Maybe Holden is not the miracle she’s hoped for. But hearts have a way of healing, and love can work miracles of its own!

Short and Fast

This was a very short story, and so much happened too quickly. Was it a miracle? There wasn’t much time to be a daddy. It could have been developed into a nice novel or longer novella, but it was just too rushed. On day one the mail order bride was not acceptable. Two days later, he loved her!

Adaline and Holden

Adaline is a widow with a baby. She lives very comfortably, but can't shake her grief. Her friends encourage her to become a mail order bride and she thinks a marriage of convenience would work.

Unfortunately, her and Holden only share one letter each before she's on her way. When Adaline arrives, she encounters a rough, unfriendly and brusk man who only gives one word replies and makes no effort to get to know her. He barely even glances at her. When they wed, and she's been keeping house and cooking, Holden starts nit-picking at how she does her tasks.

At the very, very end, he tells her she's given him a new lease on life and would she be his wife in every way, basically, but not in those exact words. She, of course, is elated and they live happily ever after.

No romance - just anger, angst and sadness. Not a pleasurable read 😔. Book #3, which I almost didn't bother to read, made up for what this one lacked. Very nice story.

THE MIRACLE CHRISTMAS DADDY

As the holidays approach and I am away from my family, I like good Christian reading! The earlier years of our nation proves a good background for stories such as this! The West was far from the east but the journey was rewarded with love. Both Adeline and Holden as well as Elizabeth celebrated that first year with love!

Very good book

This is an amazing story. I wasn't sure how this mail order bride was going to end. It certainly starts out differently. You must read this book to see how things unfold.

Miracles do happen

This was a very emotional story to read. So make sure that you have a lot of tissues. A young woman and her child go west. She does not know what she is getting into with the man she is going to wed. It takes all kinds of miracles.

Short and sweet.

It’s a common story of widow and widower marrying more for convenience and need then any other reason. Then the personalities come out with their surprises and deep secrets. This is a short and sweet story. Enjoy!

Great Read

Great Read, I really recommend this book, it is so good for just before the holidays. The only thing I would change is that it would be longer and a bit more in detail.

A very short story about a widow with a baby and a deputy whose wife and child had died.
Will these two adults be able to form a family when he is gruff and unresponsive to her?
