Desperate to find her missing brother, Tansey Nichols journeys to Montana's Black Claw Ranch. She intends to question the owner, Ethan Ashford. Ethan's her last hope, but the tall, rugged bear shifter claims he doesn't know her brother. Never met him. Tansey's sure the smooth-talking cowboy knows more than he's letting on.
Good thing she brought a gun.
Ethan's sultry smile suggests he's imagining a hundred dirty things. He's amused by her gun, not at all concerned. If the handsome cowboy wants to pretend he can't recall seeing her brother, she'll fire off a round or two. A teensy bit of gunfire might jog his memory. He doesn't think she means business? Her brother's life is in danger.
She'll show him business.
The little whiskey-eyed spitfire pulls the trigger...
Good thing she misses his boots by a country mile. Ethan had been having fun until that point, teasing her a little, trying to get to know her. But Tansey isn't interested in flirting. Most women think he's hot. Not this one. Tansey has questions and she demands answers.
First off, her little, girly pistol has got to go. Her next shot might scuff his best boots. One quick move and she's his. The curvy girl is no match for his brute strength. Of course, she's mad as hell. He's got her wrapped up in a tight hold, keeping her prisoner. She'll need to stay put because he has a few questions of his own.
Ethan's shifter instincts warn him Tansey's a terrible danger to the delicate balance he maintains with his shifter side. She squirms, fighting him hard. His bear stirs and snarls. Her lush curves and the honeyed scent of her silken skin confirm exactly what he suspects.
This little spitfire is his mate.
Then gunshots ring across the Montana range. Ethan knows Tansey's been set up.
The danger to his feisty, fated mate is closing in...
Step into the world of Shifting Destinies, where the men and women you meet might just be a little more than human. Their towns are protected by magic, and their hearts are open and ready for love. But watch your step - more than darkness lurks in the shadows.
Cecilia grew up in a what most call paradise, but she insists is humid hell. She escaped the heat with weekly journeys to the library, where she learned the basics of slaying dragons, magical abilities, and grand adventures.
When it became apparent she wouldn’t be able to travel the high seas with princes or party with rock star vampires, Cecilia hunkered down to create her own worlds filled with sexy people in complicated situations. She now writes with the support of her own sexy man and many interruptions from her goofy dog.
The h is an oversmart girl with an attitude the size of a queens. She is on a full on FIND HER MISSING BROTHER MODE. But she has zero money in her pocket. She goes around searching for her brother getting help from some bad guy who leads her towards the H.
The H is a nice enough guy helping to search her brother. Obviously he is attracted to her as she is his mate. But the h is nothing but rude to him. Now I love resistant heroines but I hate ungrateful bitch. And that’s exactly how she acts towards the H. She shoots at him, sends police to search his house accusing him of murder and kidnapping.
And even after that the H shows up at her door to announce he might have found her brother. He could have easily passed along the information to the police and stayed the hell away from her. But he doesn’t because he is attracted to her.
So when he brings the whereabouts of her brother the h is suddenly nice to him and asks him out for dinner (when in actual she has zero dimes in her pocket. Good things the H is a macho man and can’t accept a dinner from a girl instead he takes her out for dinner)
It has one the largest casts of grouchy and angsty shifters I've ever read. The H is most angsty, and he's super dominant too. But the best I could do is 3 stars because I didn't like the h at all. She's not the least bit feminine, just angry, super snarly and not at all nice. No wonder no-one wants to help her, she only has 1 mood and that's mean. No wonder her brother ran away from her. Lots of telling in the story unfortunately and way too much grouchiness from all of them.
This book was free on Amazon, and by god, it was worth every penny. The highlight was at the beginning of the second chapter when the author mixed up 'exasperated' and 'exacerbated,' which really set a nice tone, I think. For a book that advertises a romance with a bear shifter, it checks all the boxes, as long as you only have two boxes and they are: -Two-dimensional Calvin Klein models turning into hairy omnivores And -The phrase 'sipped at her lips' ad nauseum.
This is best for adult readers due to violence and sexual content. Ethan is alpha and owner of Black Claw ranch. Ethan has his hands full trying to deal with past events done by his father. Ethan has come being killed and knows the wolves are guilty, but he doesn't really want a war. The last thing Ethan needs right now is to scent his mate. Tansey wants to find her brother. Tansey knows he has been taken, knows he's in trouble. Tansey has employed Viho and his wolves to help her find him....to bad Viho is more interested in alcohol and women. I like the female lead was a human and knowingly stood her growing against shifter makes that weren't her mate. I liked that the shifter species (lions, wolves, bears) were separated by choice and not all buddies just because they're all shifters, they work together if needed, but not all that happily. This was a good story.
This book has it all, bikers, bad boys, cowboys, lions, wolves, and bears. From the very beginning we can relate to Tansey as she has to deal with the alpha of the wolf pack in her search for her missing brother. As her search continues we grow to love her sassy self especially when she connects with Ethan and his mismatched clan of bears. He is so adorable as he struggles to fight against fate. But like always fate will have her way in the end. The characters are all endearing and the HEA is one to return to again and again. I look forward to catching up with the rest of the clan soon, and maybe even that lion will find a human mate to tame his savage beast.
Read with Kindle Unlimited. 2 & 1/2 stars rounded up. The plot had potential, but fell flat in places. The Hero, Ethan was alright, the main reason I kept reading, but the heroine, Tansey, was a first class Bitch. I hated her & really couldn’t get behind the mate match between them or even like her at all. There’s a strong sassy heroine type, those are great, but this heroine was not like that. There were some places in the plot that were predictable, some places that were disappointing. Overall, I didn’t hate it, wasn’t bad enough to quit reading, but yet I wish I’d spent my time reading a “great” story instead.
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest! It was a great book! Tansey came to Montana looking for her missing brother. Instead, she found more than she bargained for Ethan thought it was all fun and games until the shooting started. Now, he wil have to get serious ( not really ! LOL ) You will have to read the book to find out how Ethan "dealt" of Tansey. It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book! I can't wait for the next book in this series.
I am so loving this side of Bearden, the real outside of the town where the cowboys run wild, sort of. Tansey and Ethan had heat/sparks right off the start and I loved it. These stories though all interlinked have their own style/situations and I am loving reading about all of them. This one like all of them had its own hint/side of danger but as the others was well worth it. I am loving this author's imagination in bringing them all together in some way.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This author must know my weakness—cowboys and bear shifters! I was hooked immediately by these two things alone. This book was a good read and held my attention. I read it in one sitting and will be grabbing the next one when it comes out!
There were parts of this book that I really enjoyed a something I didn't.
I loved the character of Ethan. He was this hard working cowboy shifter that only wanted what was best for the ranch and the men under him. He gave up on the whole mate thing because he didn't think he had time. I loved the first meeting between Ethan and Tansey. I loved that he thought her little temper tantrum was cute. I could envision it so well.
The part I didn't like was Tansey. I get that she was looking for her brother and wanted answers. I also understand that she is a little on the sassy side but there were times she was almost getting in the way. Her stubbornness could have gotten people hurt, herself included which never seemed to register. She was dealing with shifters and not all of them were good ones but she just didn't care.
A harassed Alpha has a sister searching for her missing brother land on his doorstep with a savage motorcycle riding wolf pack not far behind.
She'd been searching for her missing brother since shortly after he'd chosen to be turned into a wolf. Her only valid clue was this ranch run by a hottie of a bear shifter. Little did she know how much trouble was going to surface behind her, and she was soon going to be smack dab in the middle of all of it.
This was entertaining. I loved everything about except the unresolved issue of the alpha wolf. Ethan was everything you would want in an alpha and I thought he was great but this one of the few times that I liked the heroine better than the hero. Tansey was all no shit taking shit talking bad ass woman. She had a mission to complete and anyone in her way better move or get swept up in her tornado including Ethan. By the way the scene when they first meet was a great start to their relationship. The story was intriguing and sexy. I enjoyed all of the character even the bad guys. This is my first book by this author but I will certainly be reading more. I’m looking forward to reading Hunter’s story next. Until next time y’all happy reading.
This is a wonderfully, well-written shifter story that had me intrigued from start to finish. I really enjoyed reading this book and would have no hesitation in recommending it.
Tansey is beside herself with worry when her brother, Rye, a newly bitten wolf shifter, goes missing. Close since childhood, Rye is not the sort to pull a vanishing act for no reason. Even after Tansey moved to the big city he kept her updated on small town happenings and he had never made her worry before; he had always been her best friend. Viho Valdana, Alpha of the Vagabonds, is Tansey’s only option: no one else will take the case and Viho is not scared to track down a new shifter. Tansey has been around the wolf pack long enough to know that they liked testing her limits, but she is determined not to show them any weakness. Eventually Viho gives Tansey a name and a place, but little does she know he has set her up. For the last month someone had been killing Ethan’s cattle; the ranch already ran on near zero profit and losing cattle only exasperated his problems. Now Ethan would have to spend another year working with Trent, the unbearable Alpha of the Lion Pride on the next ranch over. It was the last thing Ethan wanted to do, but he would rather die than give up on the place; Black Claw Ranch was his birthright. The bad went along with the good and he would not turn away from his responsibilities or his clan of bear shifters. The wolf was not the first one Ethan had seen, but too often he only caught their scent long after they had passed through his territory; killing his prize cow couldn’t go unpunished, but Ethan has to weigh up the pros and cons of any action he takes. Ethan cannot let his clan down or his sister, Colette; he had thrown everything into keeping the ranch running and making sure his sister had more opportunities. No matter what Ethan did, how hard he worked, it was all unravelling and now here was Tansey confronting him, wanting to know what he has done with her brother. A month of zero leads, worry and frustration makes Tansey angry and Ethan didn’t get to walk away from her. But what trouble has Tansey brought to Ethan and his clan; as his mate she is a distraction Ethan didn’t need. Tansey is being played, but how far will Viho go to get his revenge on Ethan and how involved is Rye? A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.
Wrangled Fate is intense. Very Intense. It’s the opening story in the Black Claws Ranch series, and it will grab your attention from the very start. Since that cover description blurb tells you all you could possibly need to know before picking up this story, I’ll head on to other things. Like one bear shifter who is doing his best to hold his territory, his property and his clan together. And one desperate woman searching for her missing, just turned brother. Ethan and Tansey strike sparks off of each other from the start but for differing reasons. Ethan recognizes his mate, even if he isn’t in a place where he could take on a mate. Tansey is convinced that Ethan is hiding, harmed, killed her brother and she’s out for answers and blood… his choice which comes first.
Although I liked and enjoyed the dynamics and the banter between Tansey and Ethan, it was also very difficult for me to warm up to Tansey. I adore a strong, determined heroine… but then there’s just rude, nasty and spoiled by getting their own way all the time. Tansey often says in this story that she pushes men away… and, yeah, I’d be running at some of her accusations and downright nastiness. As the story went on, as facts became clearer I warmed up to her… but she’ll never be my favorite heroine. Ethan is just pure delicious. Strong, stubborn and vulnerable at times. He has a lot on his plate naturally while Tansey and her troubles have just made that pile a lot bigger.
A bad blood feud, danger, betrayal, mistrust and misunderstandings fly throughout Wrangled Fate. It is an intense beginning to the series, but it’s also a very entertaining look at this clan and hints of what may come our way. I enjoyed this story very much, even if I couldn’t get close to Tansey. I’m looking forward to where this series leads us, and would recommend it to any Paranormal Romance or Shifter Romance reader.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
Humm, this is my first and maybe last book by this author. I really tried to read and enjoy this book. I did.. but really Tansey is looking for her brother Rye who has let himself be bitten so he is part wolf. He disappeared and she is trying to find him, so she hooks up with a Viho and alpha wolf and bike bad boy ? She trust him to find her brother, why or who would do that.... She believes what he tells her and goes to confront the Guy he said was last to see Rye. When she meets Ethan for the first time, she finds out he knows and hates Viho Valdana and his pack Yet she never wonders why it tooks them months to get to a person Viho already knows. Instead when Ethan tell her he doesn't know what she is talking about or brother. She shoots at him..as the book goes on she calls him a murderer, and sets the police on him. She brings him nothing but trouble, but even while she is doing all this she is fighting feeling for him huh.... He is also putting up with her doing all this stuff to him and he is not sleeping thinking of taking her to bed ? I just didn't understand the ending, most of the book is about all these clans hating the wolves, Ethan's neighbor hates humans and wolves but when when Viho kidnaps Tansey with the help of her brother, both packs the bears and the lions come together to save her ???? When the dust settle the bear and the wolf now love each other and live happy ever after make no sense,... sorry I just don't understand this story...

An extremely good, intriguing bear shifter romance that was absolutely fascinating to read This book is about: a feisty female (Tamsey Nichols) who will anything and by any means necessary and that includes shooting a man (Ethan Ashford) to find out about her missing brother (Rye). Ethan realizes that Tamsey is his fated mate and that danger is stalking her. There is: wolf shifters, bear shifters, lion shifters, humans, intrigue, suspense, twists & turns, enemies, danger, frustration, information, accusations, threats, discovery, attraction, mates, a set-up, confrontations, memories, disagreements, discovery, attacks, disdain, arson, betrayal, vengeance, caring, laughter, happiness, some steam and a satisfying ending The characters are quite well-developed with strong, individual personalities, which occasionally lead to verbal conflict and/or physical confrontations. The plot is intriguing & suspenseful, it keeps the reader’s attention. This is an enjoyable bear shifter romance and I would recommend it to people who enjoy reading this genre.
“Wrangled Fate” is an incredibly entertaining tale written by an incredibly fantastic storyteller. It is gritty and downright steamy. Tansey has come to Montana searching for her missing brother. Ethan Ashford a rancher is the last one to see her brother alive. Someone is killing his cattle and has set him up regarding Tansey's brother. Upon meeting Tansey, Ethan knows that she is his fated mate but she is a human. Will he help Tansey? Can he find Tansey's brother and gain her trust? Who is trying to ruin Ethan? This book has it all.....action, intrigue, suspense, passion and romance. The danger, the emotional moments and the sizzling hot sex scenes will keep you riveted to the pages until the very end. “Wrangled Fate” a story definitely worth reading. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

2.5 star rating. I really tried to like this book. Bears are always my favorite, so I jumped in. The back and forth of Tansey drove me nuts. I did enjoy her tenacity, but after a while, it turned to annoyance. So much so, that I found myself skimming through the last few chapters. Her quick wit, strength of character and love of family was great, but then it just became too much. Her family, well we can’t really pick them. It is what it is. Loved her big alpha bear cowboy. In fact, I loved all the characters, but something about the story, writing, just couldn’t grab me, or keep my attention for very long. There is an HEA. This is my first time reading this author. May try again.
Ethan may wrangle with fate, but fate will always win
Tansey is an alpha woman, unfortunately human so she doesn't really have any power, but she sure does fake it well. Her story could be sad and depressing, yet she is ever hopeful. Ethan's bear recognizes Tansey at once, but the man won't look to that future. These characters grab your heart. I wanted them to find their way to each other. There's some angst, just enough for flavor. A baddie you love to hate. And sexy times that will scorch your ereader. Love these shifters!
I have no idea why I waited so long to read this book. I've had it for a while and it wasn't until Book2 came out that I even remembered. I really enjoyed all of the twists and turns that kept me guessing until the end. Steamy and stressful but exciting and engaging. I loved the characters and their interactions were sometimes funny and sometimes harsh but made for an interesting story that makes me want to rush through this review so I can get to the next book.
I don’t read too many cowboy books but the way she describes Ethan in those blue jeans is damn hot. A beginning to a new series. He is struggling to keep his land and cattle. Someone is trying to destroy everything and then steps in one human female and blames him for her missing brother. Things just seem to go down hill from there. Lots of interesting characters that I can’t wait to read about in the next books. Some detective work and a lot of shifter issues. But a fun romance to read.
Strong hero but terribly rude unlikeable heroine. Would have been very enjoyable if the heroine wasn’t so unlikable. She is obnoxious, bull headed and just plain rude in her actions. Instead of actually doing any checking of facts, she takes the word of a biker with his own nasty agenda and basically accosts and accuses an innocent person. Her fool hardiness does come back to bite her in the ass though, in a very literal way. May read the next book. Read through KU.
Wrangled Fate is the first book in the Black Claw Ranch series, but it’s still set within the Shifting Destinies universe. Tansey is on a mission to find her brother, and nothing is going to stop her! Not some wild wolf alpha, not the local and shifter police officers, and definitely not an intense cowboy Bear Shifter! Ethan, alpha of his clan, is struggling to make ends meet, but would do anything and everything for his clan and family - even if that means avoiding the female his bear screams is his mate. Neither want the distraction, but can they avoid each other when every turn, fate seems to drag them back together?
Holy smokes! Like all of Ms. Lane’s Shifting Destinies books, there is a lot that goes down in Wrangled Fate, a lot of twists and turns and pulling of strings behind scenes! I loved this new clan of shifters and I loved Ethan and Tansey! Ethan seemed pulled in all of these different directions and I loved that he didn’t always agree with his bear. Tansey was so strong, but had this huge need to care for others, and I loved all of the trouble that she brought upon Ethan, all in order to find her brother. The ending was crazy and intense and I loved how it all came about! I really enjoyed their struggle and all of the obstacles they needed to overcome personally as well as what’s going on around them! I can’t wait to see where this series is going to go next! It’s going to be amazing and I loved just the hint at past couples from Bearden! Ms. Lane is very talented when it comes to story telling and this is not a Shifter book that you want to miss!
In a desperate bid to find her missing brother, Tansey Nichols follows a lead to Montana's Black Claw Ranch to demand answers from the owner and bear shifter Ethan Ashford. When Ethan says he does not know her brother and has never met him she decides to make him talk by using the gun she has with her. Thankfully she missed his boots and so in one quick move he captures her and now it is time for her to answer a few questions of his own. His instincts tell him she is a terrible danger to the balance between him and his shifter as she is his mate. But when gunshots ring out across the ranger targeting her Ethan realises that she was set up by her information source. The danger is closing in for them all. Can they find the answers and survive?
I wanted to like this story and from Ethan's side, I did like the story and the way he resisted the mate pull but was totally focused on protecting her no matter how he felt. But I really disliked Tansey who was just far too feisty and assertive to the point that I just wanted to strangle her in the end. All the bad things that happened to her were generally because she was so focused on what she wanted and what she had assumed that she ignored common sense and good advice. Contains explicit sexual content.
Romance genre: shifter Series: Black Claw Ranch Length: 318 pages
Plot: Tansey is on the hunt for her brother, who became a shifter not too long ago but is missing. She hasn't been able to find him but she hires another shifter who says he can help. That leads her to the Black Claw Ranch, where Ethan, the alpha, is unsure why she was sent his way. He knows she's his mate, but he doesn't need a mate, does he?
Commentary: There was a lot of push-pull, with all of the pushing coming from Ethan. He didn't want a mate because of the pain his father suffered (and caused for others). He has a pack (?) to take care of, and those misfit bears need him. He has a ranch to maintain and people to care for, and that's all he has time for. But the mating pull is stronger than he can fight, and once they find Tansey's brother, she'll be one of those people that needs him. Just to be clear, though, she's no clingy female who has to have a man. She's as fierce as any bear.
Tansy hired wolf shifters to find her brother. They had been looking for a month with no luck. Finally, the leader told her to find a man named Ethan to discover a clue about her brother. She went there and fired a pistol at him to get answers. Ethan is the head of a local bear clan. He works the ranch with them but is losing cattle. He knows it is the wolves but cannot yet prove it. The wolves lead her on a merry chase taking her money the entire time. Ethan promises to help her locate her brother while she stays at the ranch. The next-door ranch is a pride of lion’s and are in partnership with Ethan. The wolves attack and a war erupt. Tansy and her brother are right in the middle of it and the lead wolf has bitten her! Who will survive the fight? Will she survive the transition? Will Ethan still want her as his mate? Why has her brother been gone and now reappeared? What is the feud between the wolves and the bears? These questions, steamy scenes and a great romance with a HEA are all in this book! I received this book as an ARC and am leaving a voluntary review.
This story is full of angst, drama, danger, deception, and twists. The main focus is on Ethan and Tansey trying to figure out their feelings amongst so much personal upheaval. They have an attraction but they are full of doubts that leads to ups and downs but once unleashed, they share some steamy passion. Ethan is the alpha of his pack of bear shifters doing the best he can for his pack and their struggling ranch. Tansey is human and desperate to find her missing brother. Both are strong and determined but have flaws. A lot happens between their first meeting and their acceptance of their connection and they have a chance for HEA. This story is fairly interesting but some parts take time to understand (for example, it is quite a while before you learn who/what the "Broken" refers to), and things like vampires and the fae are mentioned but not how they relate to the world of this book and serve no purpose for this story.
