Things have been quiet in Hemlock Cove. That means the Winchesters are due to find trouble.
This time, the trouble comes in the form of a dead radio doctor who calls himself Dr. Lovelorn and fixes relationships in distress. Unfortunately for the Winchesters, if he can’t help his normal patients, he’s going to help them… whether they want it or not.
Love seems to be the topic of discussion, because in addition to searching for a murderer, Bay Winchester has her hands full dealing with another surprise. It seems Chief Terry, her favorite father figure, is dating… and he’s not opening his heart to her mother as she expected.
Bay is trying to be mature, but she always thought Terry would officially become part of her family once the barriers were lifted. To make matters worse, Terry’s new girlfriend wants to be friends… something Bay can’t quite wrap her head around.
Thankfully for Bay, she has a murder to focus on. Since Dr. Lovelorn had his fair share of enemies – and a rather unattractive habit of getting too involved with his patients – there are numerous suspects to focus on.
Her expanding magic is also an issue, because she can’t quite get a handle on the ghosts that keep popping up… mostly because they’re mouthy and prone to fighting her efforts.
Basically, it’s going to be a busy week… if everyone survives to see the end of another convoluted case, that is.
It’s all witches on deck for this one, and things are about to get weirder than normal.
When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail. Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.
I love this series and I really loved this book! There is just something about Bay and the rest of the Winchester’s, Landon and Chief Terry that draw you in and hold your attention. I love the perfect blend of paranormal, the ridiculous, humor, romance and mystery.
4.5 Stars... When a deceased therapist POPS into Bay's office and Landon can see and hear him, Bay knows she must get control of her new found powers... When that ghostly therapist turns out to be a sleaze and murdered, Bay must put her new found abilities to the ultimate test... With the suspects mounting and a new woman in her father figure's life, Bay is feeling the pressure but knows she must follow her instincts; what trouble could that possibly cause, right?... As the mystery unfolds and secrets are discovered, the Winchester witches ban together to bring justice forth and save one of their own... Once again Amanda Lee concocts a spellbinding mystery with all her signature moves that brings forth a truly entertaining read.:)
I wanted to love this book but I just couldn't! I just couldn't. I bought this book as soon as it came out on Kindle from Amazon convinced that I would love it as I have loved all the other before. But I didn't. Landon came off as a smug entitled prig in this book. His having to save Bay drove me up the wall. He was the only reason I could barely finish this book. Everyone else was the same as written in all the other books but Landon? He just didn't seem to be written as he usually was. It seemed like he was the MAIN character and the only one that matters. And Bay? She seemed like a marginal, at best, character. She gave into him all the time and after about the 4th chapter it got OLD real quick! Aunt Tillie was Aunt Tillie. The moms were their usual selves. Clove and Thistle haven't changed. But Bay and Landon were two characters I didn't even know in this book. I liked the idea of the ghost not being your run of the mill ghost and I hope to find out what Aunt Tillie found out in the Dr's files. I just hope the author gets back to the core of the books (The Winchester's) and lets Landon be who should be, part of the family but NOT the ONLY one who matters. And I hope Bay gets a spine and stands up for herself! So disappointing. :(
Amanda Lee does an awesome job creating clear, well defined characters, both witchy and mundane. Despite Hemlock Cove 's small size and population, each murder sounds plausible enough that the plotlines don't get make me feel like I'm wasting my time reading these books. Also the snarkiness and sarcasm between the family members works. Enjoy yourself!
Awesome fast paced read love the characters and the storyline is awesome. One is getting married and one has new powers and jealousy runs rampant in a new romance for Chief Terry and a psycho killer on the loose loved it
I enjoyed another series by the same author, and her books are free on Kindle Unlimited, so I gave this series a chance, reading all the books back to back, so they all run into each other in my head. It was fun. If you like cozies (light mysteries without much suspense - think "Murder She Wrote") and you like paranormal novels, this series is perfect for you. The characters are loveable and a lot of fun. The mysteries are not that hard to solve, but enjoyable all the same. Aunt Tillie is a really funny character.
The more I read of this series the more I absolutely love Tillie! Bay is having a little bit more issues this book becuase of her newly discovered powers of necromancy and then she is having a harder time because Chief Terry is dating a new woman to town and its not her mother. Then a scandalous Radio Therapist is found murdered in his own home. This all leads to one interesting book in this series! I love Amanda M Lee's different series but this one is one of my favorites! I can't wait to read what happens next in this series!
A therapist is dead. He’s known for a radio show helping couples with their love problems, only he’s gone a bit too far. Bay is learning to use her new necromancy powers to try and get answers. Throw Aunt Tillie in to help her out, and boy, this is getting exciting! I cannot wait for the next book...and to see how the moms handle Peg the pig!
This one is interesting. They find the ghost before the body. The ghost is also a lot badder then most of the normal victims and too be honest he really got what he deserved. It was funny finding out all the secrets and how Bay reacted to the sheriff dating. It's funny how she turns on him so fast. It's books like this one which makes her selfish and at times immature.
Still love these books. I feel i know these characters personally. Im loving the progression of each niece's relationship. Also Bays powers becoming so much more than the simple spells. I hope there will be many more books to come and maybe magic babies in the future!
I always enjoy the antics of the Winchester witches! There are always multiple story lines going and they are always tons of fun! I can’t wait to see the changes coming!
This was an edge of your seater..... A sicko love doctor. A psycho yoga instructor and what?! Chief Terry in danger! Thankfully everything worked out and Bay saved the day! I totally forgot about Aunt Tillie wanting to get a pig... And name it Peg. Lol. Another great book in an amazingly entertaining series.
This was a fairly good book. In my opinion it wasn't as strong as the other books in the series. I felt this one relied way to much on innuendo and sexual puns. They felt forced.
The overall plot was fun and kept a good pace. I think Aunt Tilly need more space but that is because I love that character.
This is possibly one of the best books in the series, I enjoyed it with Landon taking on a new perspective it just made for a different scene . love all the books feel like I am one of the family (lol)
I loved this book. I am already invested with the lives and trials of the Winchesters, and I am anxious for more! This story was very entertaining even though I figured out the "bad guy" straight away. I love the different characters and their interactions. I highly reccomend this author!
Bay learns more about her influence over ghosts in this mystery about the death of a marriage counselor. Chief Terry is dating, and not Bay's mother. The usual ensemble makes their humorous contributions.
I love my Winchester’s. I want to live with them. I want an Aunt Tillie even if she is a lot of work. I have had one consistent gripe and I think in this book it was a little better. I am so tired of the sap between Bay and Landon. We get it. They are in love, they are destined to be together, they are fiercely protective of one another. Now please can we let it go a little? In this installment Bay’s powers are slightly out of hand, Clove announces her wedding date and Chief Terry gets a girlfriend who is NOT a Winchester. Bay is all out of sorts and determined to solve the murder of a despicable man, not be jealous Clove is getting married first and get rid of the new girl.
This is one of my favorite series by Amanda M.Lee. Bay and her family keep you on your toes and interested to the very end. I highly recommend you read this series.
This book had alot happening and it's fantastic. I feel that this book has to be the best book of the series so far. I absolutely loved it. It acknowledges the fact of London and bay meeting at summer camp when they were children which we discovered in one of the Midwest shorts previously. In this book Landon and Bay discover this fact for themselves. It was so funny to see their reaction to this. In this book Chief Terry starts dating and it's not someone who Bay expected. Their feelings and expectations are explored in this book. Bay reluctance and fear of her newfound powers are discussed. So much is happening in the cousin's life that some underlying thoughts which are normal when we grow up are explored and acknowledged. I have always loved Chief Terry and bay's father-daughter relationship that it was nice to see it explored when circumstances change. I felt bad for Bay at certain points of the story. I wanted to read more and more and didn't want the book to end. I was happy of the conclusion and the acceptance of some facts/feelings about their relationship. Aunt Tillie seemed to have mellowed a little or maybe it might be that she didn't have a very large role to play in this story. I miss Aunt Tillie's snarkiness and witty banter with everyone especially Landon and Thistle. Anyway I would definitely give this instalment 10/10 as I loved it so much. Can't wait to read more of the Winchester Witches
It’s never a good day for a murder, but the local therapist who died ends up as a ghost in front of Bay. Bay’s powers are strengthening and now she can see and hear ghosts and allow others to do the same. Finding out the murderer and through the twisted doctors patient files lots of other problems rear its head like the town psychopath. A real page turner!
I love this series! Actually, I love all the books by Ms. Lee. Three witchy cousins, a police chief, and an FBI agent manage to find all kinds of trouble in their small town, but they solve the mystery.
These ladies keep getting better with every book!!
I love all of Amanda Lee's books. Her brand of humor is top shelf, her characters are believable and the books are fun to read. A great way to take my bad day and turn it better! Hemlock Cove, Covenant College, and Grimlock Manor are all places I would love to live. This book meds the story going on the Winchester witches. Oh to have an Aunt Tillie in the family, what a riot that would be. Having witchcraft at your fingertips would be heavenly. To own your on business would be even better. The plot of This book, as usual, involves murder. The crazy antics involved in solving it are superb. Read it for yourself and see what I mean, you won't be able to put it down!!
Chief Terry is dating a non-Winchester. Melanie runs a yoga studio and thinks she has snagged Terry. Bay's power is growing but she is struggling to win control of it. The Melanie fiasco is more than Bay wants to handle. The girlfriend has to go. Much to Bay's shock, Terry sides with Melanie. To make things worse, the local shrink has been murdered and it's revealed he's been prescribing sex with him as 'therapy'. Who is the mysterious psychopath mentioned in the late, unlamented Dr. Hopper's files? Bay's heart is broken when Terry refuses to believe her assertion that Melanie is evil. Though the shrink's ghost proves he was a a despicable doctor, Bay is determined to have justice for him. And deal with Melanie.
As always another great Wicked Witches of the Midwest book. Bays powers are expanding. Land on was a lot more relaxed. Aunt Tillie seemed more behaved in this one but don't worry, she was still doing her own thing behind the scenes. Mrs Little is still (if not more) evil, some more character development (or insight.) Maybe just a further look at the crazy she is. Lol
Would have liked a few more scenes with Sam and Marcus but you can't get everything. We did get to see more of Chief Terry. I'm really looking forward to the Caravan crossover.
A other fun, funny, loaded personality of a tail. The Winchester witches are a treat to read and makes you feel like you are right in the middle of the latest happenings. Got to love them.
Another delightful read by Amanda Lee. I laughed and I cried. I always enjoy the Wicked Witches of the Midwest books and this one continues my enjoyment. I am looking forward to the next book so I can see what Amanda Lee has planned for my favorite witches. Well done as usual. This is why Amanda Lee is my favorite author. I am looking forward to reading this one again.
