It’s the turn of the century and progress has made its way to Hidden Springs. Leaving his hometown two decades earlier to become a physician, Micah Tanner has returned, eager to educate folks in the ways of modern medicine. However, what sounds like an easy task is anything but when he discovers his neighbors prefer seeking help from the local medicine woman instead of sending for the doctor when they’re ill. Determined to put an end to her ancient customs, he’s unprepared for the effect she has on his heart. Tel-e-ka, or Ellie as she’s known to the townsfolk, is a young Yavapai medicine woman struggling to find a balance between the old ways of her ancestors and the new advances in the field of healing. It doesn’t help that the new doctor thinks herbal remedies are a thing of the past and has no problem telling her so, or that she finds herself attracted to him. A medical emergency outside the scope of her experience changes how she views her own beliefs – and his. When age-old traditions meet modern-day practices, the sparks that fly rival those of the town’s New Year’s celebration. Can a couple from two different backgrounds share a love as enduring as their traditions?
It wasn’t until later in life that Kristine Raymond figured out what she wanted to be when she grew up, an epiphany that occurred in 2013 when she sat down and began writing her first novel. Over a dozen books in multiple genres later, there are a multitude of ideas floating around in her head thus assuring she’ll never be idle.
When a spare moment does present itself, she fills it by navigating the publishing and promotional side of the business. When not doing that, she spends time with her husband and furbabies (not necessarily in that order) at their home in south-central Kentucky, gardens, reads, or binge-watches Netflix.

I have loved Hidden Springs and the characters who live there since Here to Stay (book one). I thought the series had ended but Mrs. Raymond surprised me! This is Micah and Ellie's story, Micah is home from school and now a doctor. Ellie is a medicine woman who is new to town. These two have different views on medicine and how to treat patients. Will they be able to work together for the good of the patients or will the have to go their separate ways? You do not have to read these books in order, Ms. Raymond is great about filling in the blanks of the backstory but if you want the detailed back stories of these characters I would recommend reading the Hidden Springs series. Read the series anyway, you won't regret it!
Again, it took a bit, Kristine wows us with a trip to Hidden Springs. Micah Tanner comes back home. With the town still growing, he sets up a medical practice with Ben. Being young and headstrong, he finds out some of his patients are ignoring him and using a local medicine woman. Micah rushed to confront this woman. Little does he know, Fate is about to give him a dose of her own medicine.
This is a quick read with a fantastic story line and amazing characters. There are new beginnings and sad endings as life moves forward. This book is a wonderful addition to the Hidden Springs series. Loved it, don miss out!
