With 80% of Indian fiction books, it is either love and/or sex that forms the foundation of the plot. Unfortunately, this one falls in the mass majority.

House of Screams by Andaleeb Wajid is a cringeworthy horror story. Like a worthy horror story, it shrouds the underlying mystery in a veil of suspense and tantalizingly builds up to the big reveal in a rivetting climax. If you are looking for a light and entertaining read go for it.

Along with being a horror book, House of Screams also does justice to the mystery and thriller genres. It is written in simple English, does not deviate from the central theme and is lucid. Everything is mentioned in detail, especially the insides of the bungalow, and the events at the house can be visualized as happening while reading the book.

🎗The storey of Muneera, her husband Zain, and their three-year-old son is told in this novel. They were living a decrepit life in their rented apartment, despite the fact that they were tired of the current financial crisis. Then she and her family inherited her uncle's grand lonely house on Myrtle street, thinking that life would be easier now, until she heard the ear-piercing screams at night.

🎗The house had mysterious walls, as if a different world was concealed behind them. Those walls drew Adnan's attention. Seeing the odd events that occurred in that building, it seemed as though it was cursed.

🎗What is it that this house desires? Who are these screams from, and what do they want? Is this House Cursed ? Will Muneera , Zain and their 3 year old Son, Adnan get through this? Is this a cursed house? Can Muneera, Zain, and Adnan, Muneera's 3-year-old son, make it through?

I have read horror genre after a long time. I must say a well written book. It held my grip till the end and I finished it very quickly. After many days, there was this book, which kept me rooted. Every moment I wanted to know what happens next.

The title is apt for the book. Everything revolves around the screams that the newly moved in family of Muneera hears in the house at night; a house that she had inherited from her uncle. The mystery is all about the purpose and the source of these screams.

It’s actually fun to read it. It feels as though you are watching some horror movie. The language is also easy to comprehend.

Good story about a haunted house that screams at night with creepy weird walls that has a history. A short read written in simple easy english. The ending to the story was very predictable. It could have ended in a different way rather than the predictable ending in horror stories. The chapters are short and one can read the book in a single sitting.

** It will make one see the walls to a house very differently**

Overall a fine read ⭐️⭐️⭐️

House of Screams is a horror story about how greed can make a monster out of a house. It will make you look at walls in a whole new way. It is amazing how personal experiences can be woven into gripping stories.

It's NOT a typical haunted house story. Made for a gripping read. Those tentacled hands squeeze right through and twist your heart. I finished the story in one go. Fluid narrative makes you feel like you're right in the middle of all that horror.

The story is very basic and predictable. There's is no depth in story nor the characters. One of those kind of story the bollywood is feeding us from decades. The only good part about this book is it does not drag the story unnecessarily and is true to the whole plot of creepy house.

This is more of a thriller and mystery. The author wasn't able to play with the gothic theme well.

The story in the first half was a little scary but the second half seemed like some story with no depth...
