Becca:
My whole life people told me I grew up spoiled and sheltered; always at the disposal of my billionaire father. After a while I started to believe them. They said I never wanted or needed anything except Daddy’s approval. They didn’t know what it was like to live with him. I love my father, but he is a hard and difficult man. Then Daddy gets himself kidnapped. It is up to me to keep Foster Trucking and Shipping running. The livelihood of hundreds of Foster’s employees and their families depended on me. To make matters worse several ‘accidents’ have been happening at the warehouse threatening to shut the operation down and with my father’s captors demanding thousands in ransom I realized I couldn’t do it all on my own. Despite our explosive past, and all the mistakes I made with his heart, I had to call Blake Snyder not knowing if he would help me or not. If he agreed to help, would I be able to keep him at arms-length or will I have to risk losing my father, my family business, and my heart?

Blake:

Being an ex-Delta Force Operations Specialist and private investigator specializing in hostage negotiation meant I was no fool. I was highly trained to keep my cool no matter how high the stakes or the pressure. Yet when it comes to Becca Foster and her chestnut brown eyes, all my cool went out the window. The spoiled socialite was gorgeous and dynamite in the sack. Our recent past was filled with heat and electricity. But she’s wrapped so tightly around her daddy’s finger, that there was no hope she would ever stand on her own two feet. I have spent the last month determined to forget her. Until one day she called begging me to help her. She was in over her head, and as much as I wanted her to drown, I just couldn’t let her. I vowed to keep it professional, get in, save the old man and get out. I was a pro. But how would I negotiate my feelings for Becca? She swore she’d changed, but could I trust that she wouldn’t run away from me again? Breaking my heart for good?

Full Review on my blog!
*a copy was provided by the author via booksprout*

Okay. This was a really quick read. It wasn't what I was expecting but I actually enjoyed it.

The description of the book literally gives the book away...which kinda sucks.. The beginning felt really rushed, and went straight to the point, but I guess given how short the book was...it works.

The first chapter was the phone call telling Becca that her father was kidnapped, and well, everything else is kind of predictable. Becca calling Blake, them trying to get her father back, them trying to rekindle their relationship, hot sex. But I guess it works. There is a LOT of foreshadowing BTW, if you're like me you'll easily pick up on things.

Ahhhaha looks like I guessed right :b

Good story, with potential, just wish there was more depth, and character development.

I received this book as a gift to read in advance and I would like to give and honest opinion of what I read.

This is a really well written book. I loved the characters Blake and Becca even though they had a rough start because of her father when he was on a previous mission there in Dallas to look of her missing brother Jr. who just happens to have a bad drug habit and an alcoholic as well. Becca has spent most of her life trying to pleas her Dad and nothing she seemed to do helped. Instead of sticking with Blake when he and returned Jr back home her father told her that Blake was beneath her just common gutter trash and her brother backed him up. She was afraid that if she stuck to her guns her father would take the company away from her and completely cut her off. A decision that she regret ever since, she knew that she broke Blake’s heart and hers as well.

The morning started out as usual for Foster Trucking; Becca had been down on the floor talking with the employees before starting up to her office. Once again this week something had gone wrong in the warehouse. This was the third week in a row that this has happened. She had just got finished talking with Eva her best friend whom she had promoted as manager over the warehouse floor. She and Eva had been friends since collage and had offered her a job which she had accepted. The current problem Becca wanted to get her fathers approval on what she was planning to do before she did it. As usual Eva was telling her that she needed to stand up to the man and take the reins like she should have. It was then that she realized that her father was not in his office or at the warehouse. She decided to go to the house to see if he was there and if he was all right. Once she got there she noticed that his study was in shambles and it was then that she got her first phone call from the kidnappers. They told her no cops, or FBI or daddy would be dead. She turned to the only person that she trusted though she didn’t know if he would help after everything that had happened to them.

When Blake first got Becca’s phone call her really didn’t want to talk to her but after listening to her he couldn’t bare to hear the tones in her voice. He knew that she needed him there and her was going to help her. His heart was still raw from the month before but he would work it out.

There are twist and turns in this story and the people responsible for the kidnapping were people that Becca least expected would do such a thing. Even more so was she surprised to learn what their true intentions really are. Is Becca and Blake going to come out of all of this unscathed? Is her father going to be found or are the kidnappers going to fulfill their promise of killing him as well? All of these questions will be found out as you read but you have to journey down that road on your own. I don’t want to spoil it for you.

This is the first book I've read from Jillian Riley,,,, I really like her writing,,,,

Becca Foster whose best friend is the warehouse manager at her father's business, Foster Trucking and Shipping, Eva Miller has been friends with her for awhile now,,,, her father's name is Childs Foster Sr and they live in Dallas, Texas ,,,, he owns the company, her and her brother, Childs Foster Jr, or everyone just calls him Junior they both have offices along with their father up on the top floor ,, although Junior has a past of using and alcohol and was once a subject of an incident himself, when they couldn't find him for awhile,,, although their father had always used the fear of kidnapping to straighten them out when they were unruly,,,, but, now as she looks for her father, frantically at the office and then drives to her father's residence, she gets to his house and finds Junior, but no Father, and then gets a phone call from the kidnapper, demanding five hundred thousand dollars and no cops,,,, so, now, she only has one choice,,,,, to call Blake,,,

Blake Snyder is an elite fighter, he had a nickname in the service, it was "Steady", , he's an ex-Delta Force Captain and works with his buddy, ex-Delta Force also, Jaxson Acker, they life in Houston. Texas,,,,, they have a P.I. Service, Jaxson's wife is Amelia, and she is the company accountant,,, their boss is named Ethan Dennis, and they have a pilot that is Jaxson's brother Davis Acker,,, now Blake is being contacted by his ex-girlfriend Becca, whom he thought was the right one, until Becca's father told her she was better off without Blake and she broke up with him,,,, and now Becca is calling needing help getting back the old man himself,,,, what fresh hell is this going to be,,,,???,,,, but, of course, Becca needs him,,,, he is going to go, and this time, he's not going to let Becca go that easy,,,

I really enjoyed this story and think I will go and read more from her,,,, this has got the action and adventure, and the steam these 2 have together is HAWT,,, !!! I would totally recommend this book to anyone at all,,,, I'm happy I got a chance to read this, as I'm always looking for new to me authors,,,,

I got this ARC voluntarily to write an honest review,,,,,

I gave 4 stars because I figured out the characters involved in the kidnapping too fast so didn't get to enjoy the twists. Blake is an elite ex-military turned P.I. He helped Childs Foster last year find his son who is called Jr by everyone. Jr has a problem with addiction both drugs and alcohol. Becca Foster his the daughter who wants to run Foster Trucking and Shipping when her father retires. Eva best friend of Becca works as warehouse manager for Foster Trucking. Mr Foster failed to show for work one day so Becca goes to check on him and can not locate any evidence of what has happened to her father. She soon receives a phone call demanding a ransom for the return of her father. Unable to find her brother she decides to call Blake and ask for his help even though she broke his heart when they were involved previously. Blake does agree to come help her with the kidnappers but only in a professional matter. She is to tell no one not her brother or her best friend according to Blake. Blake is in Houston so he flies to Dallas where Becca is waiting to pick him up. They drive to office to wait for ransom call. The love is still there between the two of them so it is difficult to stop the steamy sex. When you pick up this book to find out the who done it you will get to see her father can be a nice person. Enjoy the read

An Amazing, Intriguing Read

OMG what an amazing, fast paced, suspenseful read this book is! A second chance, suspenseful romance, full of intrigue and regrets, insanity, despair, rage and oh so much more, that pulls you in from the very first page and keeps you gripped to the very last page! The storyline is superb full of twists and turns you do not expect! I shall certainly be following and reading this fairly new author Jillian Riley in the future!
Blake Snyder was Becca Foster’s ex that her father insisted was not good enough for her in her spoilt socialite life, and what her billionaire dad says she goes along with as she will never stand up to him! Blake is a Private Investigator specialising in hostage negotiations. Hence the story begins with her father’s kidnapping. Can Blake help Becca after she and her father broke his heart? Will Becca choose the business second time around? Can they both keep it professional in his investigations? Blake didn’t trust either her father or her? Are all the accidents at the warehouse connected with her father’s kidnapping? Who wants and needs revenge against Becca? I can only but highly recommend this magnificent book as a must read.

Hard Potector by Jillian Riley is an awesome read. This is the second book in A Navy Seal Romance series. This is the story for Blake and Becca. Blake is an ex-Delta Force Operations Specialist and now works as a private investigator. Becca is the daughter of billionaire trucking magnate Childs Foster. Everyone thinks Becca is a spoiled rich girl but she has more substnce to her than people give her credit for. Becca and Blake were involved before when her father hired him to locate her brother. At that time the relationship did not survive. They meet again when Becca calls Blake to ask him to help find her father who has been kidnapped. Their feelings for each other come back and are stronger then ever. Will they find her father alive and find the kidnappers? Will Blake get over her dumping him before and let them get their HEA? Will Becca show how strong she is and admit to Blake she was wrong? Will they get their HEA? You will need to read the book to get the answers. This book has suspense, action, romance, twists and turns, highs and lows. I absolutely loved this book and read it it one sitting. I can't wait to read the next book by Ms. Riley.

As you follow along mesmerized as the intense drama, betrayal, deceit, danger and suspense build and tension soars keeping your focus on this fantastic storyline as the plot thickens. With so many twists and turns along with unpredictable surprises make for one enjoyable experience. The characters are so vividly detailed and realistic with such depth and complexity it draws you in. The scenes are so graphically detailed it really pulls this bad boy together beautifully. Jillian writes the characters and scenes with such realism it's easy to picture each scenario as they play off one another perfectly. This story belongs to Blake Snyder and Becca Foster. Blake is a former Delta Force operator and now works in the private sector as a hostage negotiator. Becca runs her father’s trucking business, though he ALWAYS has the final say and keeps her under his thumb.
They met and had an affair a month ago while he was undercover in her father’s trucking company. The attraction was instantaneous, but Becca sent him away when her father thought he was not good enough for her.
When Becca’s father is kidnapped, she calls Blake for help. The attraction is still there and he will do anything to help Becca.
The story is filled with action, bad guys, whodunit, dangerous moments and of course, romance. But in the end, will they survive the danger, and if so, will Becca once again, stay away from Blake?
The plot was engaging and the characters interesting.
I always enjoy the audiobooks since they seem to bring the story to life.

An amazing well written second chance romance. Becca broke Blake's heart because of the pressure from her father now he has been kidnapped and she needs his help. Blake ex Navy seal now PI possed as a trucker before and Blake needs him again and even broken hearteed he can't deny her. This story was exciting, with many twists and turns, passion filled, drama, hot sexy times, sizzling chemistry, love, blackmail, and betrayal. I was on the edge of my seat in this engaging and intriguing storyline woth strong, relatable and well developed characters. A must read to keep i the library to read over and over.

This was a fun, short story; a second-chance romance in a setting of intrigue and danger. Becca's father was kidnapped and Becca only trusted Blake to help. They were romantically involved but her father actually put an end to that so there were hard feelings but Blake still helped. Of course, predictably, they were still in love with each other so the romance was very expected but still well done. I thought the story line itself was predictable- it was easy to tell who the bad guys were, but overall, I didn't mind because I still had fun.

I primarily listened to the audiobook which i received upon request. The narrator was very good. She had good pacing, good accents and good control of her voice to play multiple characters. Overall, well worth the time spent.

A nice addition to Jillian Riley's library of work.

Becca oversees operations at her families trucking company and has to call on her ex-boyfriend Blake, a private investigator and ex-special forces soldier, when her father is kidnapped. As the story progresses forgiveness is sought, danger increases and the enemies is not who you think. Jillian Riley has delivered again with an immersive work that left me on the edge of my seat. I look forward to where she takes Ethan to complete the series.

I received a free copy of the book from the author via Booksprout. I had the opportunity to review or not.

Jillian Riley comes out running in this book, with action right from the beginning!
She has taken a second chance romance, added action and mystery and swirled it around into a story that keeps the reader from ever being able to put the book down!
Her talent of creating lifelike characters draws you into the book, leaving you wondering where the next turn will be. The action is palpable and puts the reader into the story, to where you find yourself gnawing on your nails and your heart racing.
Ms. Riley has definitely written a book that could be enjoyed by all.

I love a second chance love story. This one was fantastic.
Blake is Ex Special forces hot, sexy and on a mission to protect the only woman he’s ever loved. Becca’s father got in the way of their love once. He won’t let it happen again.

Becca’s smart beautiful and in way over her head. Her fathers been kidnapped. So she calls the one person that she trusts and can save her father Blake.

Great twists that keep you guessing until the very end. Blackmail, betrayal and really hot, sexy times make this a must read.

This is a second awesome book in this instalment that kept me on the edge of my seat. It is a story about Blake and Becca. Becca had to call her ex-boyfriend Blake who is private investigator but also ex-Delta Force Operations Specialist when her father is kidnaped.
I absolutely enjoyed to read this book that has suspense, twists, turns, action, romance, second chances, all packed in one great read. On the question are Becca and Blake will get their HEA...just read the book, I'm not going to tell you. Can't wait to read the next instalment!

Hard Protector by Jillian Riley is the story of Blake, an ex-military officer, and Becca, the daughter of a rich trucking magnate. It seems they had met previously, embarked on a relationship that disintegrated due to family interference. Now Blake is asked to assist Becca in a life or death situation. Jillian Riley does a great job of incorporating romance, suspense and intrigue into the plot. By using her skills with words, she builds to a climactic end leaving the reader with a satisfying HEA.

This novel was such a pleasure to read. I really enjoyed Becca and Blake's dynamic.

This novel was extremely fast paced with the kidnapping and trying to find out who was behind it. Although I did guess who was behind it very early, I was still wanting to know the motives and ensure a happily ever after.

I felt that this conclusion of this novel was better than the first novel. I like how Jillian brought it characters from the first novel. I was great to see Jax briefly within these pages.

Would definitely read more by this author and with these characters.

I found this book to be a fast-paced, suspenseful and addictive read. The characters are developed, the h being spoiled and easily manipulated by daddy and the H, a no nonsense ex Navy Seal. The attraction and chemistry between the H/h is explosive and we journey with them on their second chance at an HEA. Engaging and entertaining this book is a page-turner. I liked it. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.

Action packed page turner

This book is action packed, full of dramatic encounters and unexpected twists, turns and events. When I started to read I couldn't put the book down and simply was just turning page after the page.
The plot is very well thought through. Characters are great and fit the story line perfectly. Between Becca and Blake there is a strong attraction and the chemistry is off the charts. They really deserve the second chance in love and the happily ever after.

Entertaining

If you like action, suspense romance this is for you. Seal’s are mentioned in passing. He left and works as private firm.
Decent characters but plot is easy to see a mile away. No pro would have taken so long to solve it or wait prior to bringing in FBI. Or for that mention had private team with dogs, etc come in. Also not sure of time frame written but “wires and phones as listening devise” advancement are not current.

This is the first book I’ve read by Jillian Riley and I really enjoyed and recommend.
There’s a lot of action and fast paced. It’s a second chance romance with mystery, suspense, drama, and secrets. A kidnapping resulting from jealousy and rage. Blake and Becca are sweet with their second chance. It’s incredible the amount of trust and blind faith Becca has in him.
I highly recommend this book.
I can’t wait to read her next book!
