Summary: Kai shows up to her small hometown after thinking she wouldn't be back. But with the loss of her brother in law, her sister and her niece need her. And she's here to help. Little does she know she'd run into a old friend, right after writing a letter to Santa for a boyfriend this Christmas.

Kai and Noah.... Wow okay lets cover some key points shall we.

Things I didn't like in this book.

They didn't seem to have any chemistry.. The dates they had were quickly brushed over and the one that was shown on page
I also wasnt the biggest fan of Kai. She seemed to glaze over any interaction she had with family even her niece she seemed irritated to even be there. The entire plot of Everything about this just felt weird and not at all what I expected.

However, I did enjoy the small moments with family. And the small town setting. There was also alot of themes on Christmas. I feel like some "Christmas" themed books are just set during the holidays but don't show it. This implemented alot of little Christmas outings and such. I'll try another book by this author and see how it goes.

This story had a lot of potential. I definitely wouldn't classify it as a novel, it was about an hour long. While the theme was cute, falling for an old high school classmate, and something I related to it wasn't fully developed. There were a lot of holes in the story that weren't explained or further developed. She ghosted dude for no apparent reason and sent her friend in with a BS excuse. I wanted more.

Short and sweet.

It's amazing how quick you can get what you want when you stop overthinking everything and move out of your own way. Go on and shoot your shot!

The back drop of this book was moving. Holidays may be hard to get through sometimes, but when surrounded by a loving family and amazing friends, it can be magical!

This was my first read by this author and enjoyed it.

Lacked a Spark

This book is actually more like a 3.5. It was okay to me but there was nothing that really drew me and I didn’t feel a true spark or chemistry between the characters. There were definitely warm and fuzzy parts but it never really came together for me. It also took me the longest time to finish because I kept stopping and starting. I wish more time was dedicated to the romance versus the heroine’s reservations which took up most of the book. I will however give the author another chance as I know that novellas cannot fully capture every nuance and go into detail like a full length novel.

Do not let the cover of this book fool you. It is not a spicy book at all. It gets half a chili pepper for some. First, there is only one "spicy" scene. And that scene is super short and provides more of an overview of the act. Second, it's told him his POV which downplays the act even more and let's be honest the desired reading base wants to know how she's feeling not him. Placing the cover misrepresentation aside, the book was okay-ish. Kai is insanely immature for the fact that she is supposed to be in her 30s. Her actions and though processes reeked of teenagedom and made her very unrelateable. Noah is fine. Lackluster and one dimensional but fine. No real flaws there but no real substance either. Lastly, the story ends super awkwardly. Like the author just kinda gave up and say eh this is enough to show they have potential. That should satisfy the reader. It does not, in fact, satisfy the reader.

Author has definite potential!

This was my first read by this author, and I'd be willing to give her another ty. However, while it normally takes me less than no time to read a novella...I found myself stopping and starting on more than one occassion. The premise and the characters did draw me in. But simply didn't do enough to keep me engaged. And at times it was hard for me to figure out who was speaking. But, I did see enough to give this author another try! Keep working on your craft!

Christmas Chemistry

Hmmmm🤔, did I miss something between Kai & Noah? There might have been Christmas Kookie exchange, two weird dates & one date classified as an adult outing 🥴🤦🏾‍♀️. Either he ain’t got no game (yup, intentionally grammatical horrifying to illustrate a point ‼️) or she can’t catch a game ball🤦🏾‍♀️. Either way, there was no irrefutable history of dating and or current chemistry between Kai & Noah. Consequently, “Boyfriend For Christmas: A Love Story” nope 🙂‍↔️! Sorry, but not this book, not this Christmas 🤷🏾‍♀️🤭‼️

Kai and Noah hmmmm

For me girl code and more specifically friendship code is real. Thus seeing how this relationship between Kai and Noah would unfold with Shiloh having a backdrop was important to me.

I had to reconcile with the character development and the story being a novella because otherwise there would have been a serious gap between events and ideas.

Nevertheless the premise was realized and you get the sweet cute ending that allowed you to smile.

I need me a Reece

I loved loved this book. Got it during the Cozy Edition and I really enjoyed it. I really liked the fact that it was so well written considering how short it is. I liked that it was all about black love whether between Eva and Lawrence or Noah and Kai. I liked that it is one big celebration of black love and the black couples being educated and not struggling. I liked how Reece ended up being the main character through her wishes to Santa

She had broken up with her boyfriend when her sister asks for help. She was now a widow and a single mum. Her niece has lost her not and so what is an auntie to do? She tries to make it better so latter's to Santa is first thing to do. What will she ask for? See what will happen

More

The book was ok but it needed a little more depth to the main characters. For example no one uproots their life to return home to help with her niece unless her sister was totally alone. Their mom and dad plus Eva’s in-laws lived in Baxter. See where I’m going with this. Details provide underlying reasons for the story development

Long Short Story

This story dragged out in my opinion and barely kept my interest, I actually would give this a 3.5 but It won’t let me rate as such. This is a story about two sisters and how one sister gave up her life in Virginia to move back home to help her sister with her 7 year old daughter. I will give the author another chance on a full novel.

Great short story. Eva's husband dies and leave her with a little girl to raise. Eva sister Kai moves back to GA to help her sister out. Kai runs into Noah; her best friend's ex-boyfriend from high school. Noah likes Kai but she is afraid to get involved with him because of her friend's relationship with him in the past. Enjoyed it.

Nice and Sweet

This was a quick nice and sweet novella. I think Noah always had a crush on Kia when he was dating her bestfriend in high school and now 10years later they have a chance at love.

No love...

I was expecting more and left confused with how things didn’t develop between Kai and Noah. Some parts of the story was cut out. I am not sure how this turns into a boyfriend and or a live story.

Quick Read

I think the only thing that I didn’t like about this story was her apprehension about dating Noah after dating Shiloh when they were in high school. Lol other than that it was a really cute read.

Short, simple and sweet

Kai and Noah weren't new to each other, but their roles in each other's lives were new. Noah wasn't gonna let Kai get away from him so easily.
