Baxter Springs #4

Something Blue: A Baxter Springs & Silver Lake Crossover

Rate this book
Danny Evans doesn’t need a boyfriend. He doesn’t have time for love, and even if he did, his prospects in Silver Lake, Ohio, are… limited. As groomsman in his best friend’s upcoming out-of-town wedding, Danny is at least looking forward to the thought of having a little fun, except the “city” is in the middle of nowhere. At the prospect of being single person in a group full of couples, Danny has resigned himself to the fact that he’s just meant to be single. He certainly isn’t going to find Mr. Right on this trip.

Finding a boyfriend and settling down isn’t even on Micah Daniels’ radar. After getting kicked out of his parents’ house, he’s just thankful he’s found a job and a place to live. Opportunities are few and far between in Baxter Springs, Kansas, and Micah has somehow managed to make a stable life for himself against all the odds. The last thing he’s going to do is rock the boat. Losing this job would mean he’s out on the streets - again.

When Danny sees Micah for the first time, he can instantly tell there’s something special about the strong, quiet farm hand. But with Danny only in town for a week and Micah’s need for discretion, there’s no hope for their instant attraction to turn into something more.

But wedding fever is a funny thing, and love always seems to find a way. When the week is over, will Danny and Micah take a real chance on each other and…love?

This is a Baxter Springs and Silver Lake Crossover! Enjoy.

I've enjoyed other books by Avery Ford, and there's a lot of sweetness and warm feelings to be found here.

Unfortunately I'm not really into it this time. I'm not that familiar with the supporting cast (it's a decent-sized group and plays a prominent role), and I would have preferred a slightly longer story with more room for exploring and resolving conflicts and further building the MCs' relationship.

The premise is classic, but you either have to be willing to suspend your disbelief in a big way or be of an extremely romantic disposition to hop on board with the insta-love and the events that follow.

That being said, if you're looking for a fast, fun romance that is unapologetically sweet and Happily Ever After, this is a warm, sexy read that delivers exactly that.

Avery Ford's Something Blue is fantastic! Not only is it book four in the Baxter Springs series, but it's also a Baxter Springs and Silver Lake crossover!

Danny's off to Baxter Springs for his friend's wedding. When he meets Micah, they both are instantly interested in one another. As Danny's only in town for one week, they need to decide soon if they're going to act on their crushes.

Both men feel that there could be something special between them if they lived close. Thus their story contains a lot of hesitancy, a lot of sadness, and a whole lot of wonderful moments. At the heart of their romance is a beautiful friendship that develops.

As I expect from a Baxter Springs story, this one contains all the small town charm and characters we love. But, I am honestly giddy at how fantastic it is that we get Silver Lake characters too!

I can't recommend Something Blue enough. I adore Avery Ford and this one is everything I have come to adore about Avery's books.

This is an insta love romance with two series coming together to create a wonderful HEA for two couples. We follow Danny, the hairdresser from Silver Lake, and Micah, a new employee at the Baxter Springs Ranch.
Danny is a fun guy, really supportive to his friends, their new found loving relationships and the upcoming wedding but is feeling the odd one out a lot as the only single guy. Micah now lives on his own, away from a not entirely accepting family and has started his new job at the ranch, so very grateful that they've taken a chance on him.
It's easy to read the instant attraction and connection that both men feel. Avery is really good in all her books at expressing emotion, thoughts and speech when it comes to attraction and relationships, both the good and bad points. The two men work together really well and it's adorable reading all of their friends, from both series being nosy and trying to help the two men along. The problem being they are only there until the day after the wedding and then will be states apart.
I love a good instant attraction that then has to find a way to work around the characters lives. Just because they want to be together doesn't mean that it works logistically or that they get a guaranteed HEA.
This is a great story for fans of Avery's, anyone who enjoyed the Baxter Springs series and/or the Silver Lake series. There's appearances from all the past characters and they have little moments to help our current MC's along in their love story.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

Really great read. This author writes low angst easy to read books and this is no different. It's lovely to meet the characters from previous books in the two series.
Danny is happy alone or so he thinks. He goes to a wedding with his friends and meets the beautiful Micah.
Micah wants to do well at this job but when the new clients turn up he finds he's attracted to one of them. He sees Danny and can't ignore the pull towards him.
This is the book of their love story and its a great journey you will love being involved in.

Awesome crossover, loved it!

This was a great read! It’s pretty light and sweet but goodness sometimes that’s just exactly what I need!!

When I first read the blurb I wondered if a crossover would just seem awkward or forced but it absolutely wasn’t and worked perfectly! Nicely done.

I loved Danny & Micah’s heartfelt connection and tangible chemistry. Low angst, lots of sweet & sexy.

We got to see favorites from both communities we’ve come to love in earlier books which is always a plus for me. I really enjoyed both series that come together here and this was a great conclusion to both! Well at least I assume it’s the ending-if not I’ll happily read more!

When I read that the Baxter Springs series was meeting the Silver Lake series, I was intrigued.

I had wondered if our little helper from the Ranch would get his story but also wondered about our favorite hairstylist from Silver Lake. For these to characters to find each other and blend the two series was incredible.

Avery did a great job of not only us getting a HEA, she made the characters possible to merge and then even find a way to end up together regardless of the distance.

A great crossover story with wonderful characters and a great storyline. Micah and Danny are great together in this sweet, low angst story. It's an enjoyable read with a wonderful HEA. I really enjoyed seeing characters from previous books of both series although this can be read as a standalone. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

Very Sweet, Maybe Too Sweet

The story is a quite predictable and mellow read. Nothing unexpected, no angst, no distress, just a quick meet and fall in love type tale.
