Before topping multiple bestseller lists—including those of the New York Times, USA Today, and the Wall Street Journal—award winning author Elisabeth Naughton taught middle school science. A voracious reader, she soon discovered she had a knack for creating stories with a chemistry of their own. The spark turned into a flame, and Elisabeth now writes full-time.

Though primarily known for her romantic suspense work, Elisabeth has penned over thirty books and continues to write in multiple genres, including paranormal romance and contemporary romance. Her books have been translated into numerous languages and have earned several award nominations, including three prestigious RITA® nominations from Romance Writers of America. In 2017, REPRESSED, the first book in her Deadly Secrets series, won the RITA® for best romantic suspense.

Elisabeth's work has been praised by the Chicago Tribune as being filled with "deadly intrigue, high adrenaline action, and scorchingly hot passion.” Kirkus calls her "a writer talented enough at weaving a yarn to get her readers ensnared in it.” When not dreaming up new stories, Elisabeth can be found spending time with her husband and three children in their western Oregon home, wrangling two cats, or chasing after one very rambunctious Dalmatian.

I love the Eternal Guardians series and Kara and Ryder’s story is another fun addition to a great series! Kara and Ryder had a blistering hot attraction tempered with a bit of sweetness I enjoyed! I just wish we had a wee bit more time to explore things between them. There’s not a lot of space in a novella to always do characters justice, but I think Naughton did a fair job encompassing the gist of this realm. It was also fun peeking into some of the previous characters lives as well as Zeus. Because he’s always been a pain in the patootie within this series and I’m always delighted to see him get his comeuppance.

Loved this one! Zakara and Ryder were a perfect match. I love seeing the children of the Guardians all grown up and getting into their own trouble. Super steamy and lots of chemistry between these two. Come on....we've all had those dreams that you just WISH would come true.

And, WOOT! They pulled one over on Zeus once again.

Great mythology. Great romance. Great read!

This is the first book I have read in the series and I have to say that it made me want to read the series because I was so enraptured by this novella that I needed more of these characters and I need to find out what happens with them and how there parents are and the trouble that Zeus has been causing for them.

In this Novella we get to see Zakara and Ryder and oh boy oh boy was this a good one. Ryder has to use his own gift on himself and when he does things go left real fast and he has to figure out how to get himself out of this nightmare because it is no longer a dream. He is attracted to Zakara and she is attracted to him but she fights it and the more she fights it the worse things get and Zeus is starting to win. He has this evil plan planned for Zakara and Ryder and if they don't get it together soon he will win.

Everything happened so fast… This is the kind of plot that deserves more development, like, for instance, Zakara’s disappointment with her life, her poor mental health and how it affects her life...

I liked Zakara and Ryder and it was so nice seeing some of the previous characters after so long.
It was surprising how Zakara’s found her gifts and what a cool gift LOL

This one just could not hold my attention. It took me 3 times to read it and it's less than 90 pages, really easy to read in one sitting in less than a couple of hours. I found Kara to be a bit whiny, poor me, I don't have powers I have to stay here to be safe. Sure the safe part was valid, but come on get over yourself, being safe is good. Also with as old as Ryder was how was he so clueless on where Zeus could and couldn't go. By the time I got to the end of this one I was happy to be done.

ENSNARED is the latest novella in Elisabeth Naughton’s contemporary, adult ETERNAL GUARDIANS paranormal / fantasy, romance series based in Greek mythology, prophecy and history, as well as the latest addition to the multi-authored 1001 Dark Nights series.

The modern day heroes –the Argonauts-are descended from the Gods of Olympus whom fate has decreed the Eternal Guardians on Earth. This is the cosmic deity and dream weaver Ryder aka Morpheus (god of dreams), and Zakara aka Kara’s story line. ENSNARED can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Kara and Ryder) ENSNARED follows the building relationship between cosmic deity and dream weaver Ryder aka Morpheus, and Zakara aka Kara, daughter of Callia, and Argonaut father Zander. Zeus, the god-king has taken control of our hero Ryder, and in doing so demands Ryder seek out the descendants of the ancient goddesses the Horae (goddesses of the seasons). Ryder’s latest target is the daughter of Callia and the Argonaut warrior Zander, a target who has yet to come into her powers. As a dream walker Ryder infiltrates our heroine’s dreams only to realize there is more to Zakara than anyone could have imagined. What ensues is the building relationship and romance between Ryder and Kara, and the potential fall-out as Zeus demands Ryder finish his assignment.

ENSNARED deviates from the previous story lines in that there is no mention of Zeus’ struggle to complete the Orb of Kronus a circular disk, designed by Prometheus, that holds all four elements, and the deity who is in possession of the Orb has the ability to start the war to end all wars. Zeus had previously stolen the Orb of Kronus from the Argoleans but the water element remains elusive, and Zeus suspects is has been hidden in Argolea, where the Olympians –and thusly Zeus- are unable to cross. Saying that, Ryder will be accepted by the Argonauts and thusly protected while living in Argolea.

The relationship between Ryder and Kara is one of immediate attraction perpetrated with a seduction and a lie. Zeus demands Ryder’s obedience but in doing so places Ryder together with the woman he loves. The $ex scenes are passionate and intimate without the use of over top, sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary characters include Zeus, Zeus’s Sirens, Callie and Zander, as well as a number of previous story line couples.

ENSNARED is a quick read; a story of power, control and love; a tale of vengeance and freedom. Once again, Elisabeth Naughton blends modern day with fantasy and mythology as the gods and goddesses of Olympus seek to win at all costs. The premise is inviting; the romance is seductive; the characters are strong and captivating.

I always forget how much I enjoy the Eternal Guardians world until I dive back in! Ensnared features Zakara, the daughter of Callia and Xander, but like all the 1001 Dark Nights stories it can easily be read as a standalone.

Zakara is having a bit of an identity crisis. Argoleans usually realize a special ability of some sort by the time they reach the age of 20 (superior strength, healing, visions of the future etc.). At 26, she has yet to see any gift manifest itself and she is treading water at her mother's clinic to keep her parents happy despite being bored to tears. She is also feeling increasingly suffocated by being trapped inside the city walls by her overprotective parents after her cousin was kidnapped by Zeus months ago. Her only escape is in her dreams where she encounters the most delicious man she could have ever conjured up.

Ryder, aka Morpheus, is the last dream weaver and an unwilling participant in Zeus's plan of the day to try to destroy the Argonauts and take over the world in general. From the first time he encountered Kara in her dream world, Ryder felt the same inexplicable pull to her that she feels. But no matter how much he believes he has found a person who can truly understand the depth of his loneliness, he knows from firsthand experience that getting to close to anyone just gives Zeus more ammunition to inflict pain and suffering.

Of course best laid plans never quite work out and Zeus finds a way to muck things up as usual. I loved Kara's spirit and the ease of her interactions with Ryder. Oh and did I mention that you will need a fan for the sexy times?

Ensnared was a wonderfully yummy quick read that I thoroughly enjoyed!

Zakara “Kara” is a girl after my own heart. Ryder isn’t happy about his task. If you’ve never read any of Ms. Naughton’s Eternal Guardians series before, this may be a good place to start. The book does read as a standalone so you won’t miss out on anything. But it may have you wondering about the other guardians.

How do you feel about mythology? If you love it and don’t mind this fictional twist why not take a chance. There’s plenty of steam – kept watching to see if my e-reader screen was fogging up. You may find that no matter how slow you try to read, the ending still gets closer and closer. Even their time appears to be going quickly but nothing seems to be missing or chopped so that the next scene can occur.

The story got me to thinking as well. What would you do if you had someone that would come to you after you had gone to sleep? Would you creep out? Would you go with the flow? Maybe you like to be in control? Maybe you like to be different from your normal self? How would you feel if a god made an appearance? Do you dream about current things or do you get creative and dream of things you’ve read? Would you stand up for what you believe in and for whom you love? Now don’t you want to see if any of those questions can be answered as you read this book? Wasn’t sure of the ending though. It sounded like it might be happy but I felt that the story wasn’t finished.

I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

Ensnared Pulls You In...

Ensnared may be a novella, but it packs a serious punch. It is written in a way that it is a stand-alone book and does not need to be read in order of the Eternal Guardians series but trust me, if you have not read this series it is a must read. I love the series and Ensnared did not disappoint. As the series has progressed, we are now getting to read about the children of the Eternal Guardians.
Zakara, is one of those children, and she is struggling to come to terms with the fact that she apparently has no gifts. Her parents shelter her and seek to keep her out of harm’s way, but that only seems to suffocate her. She finds her dream world much more appealing and who wouldn’t. The man in her dreams is delectable.

Ryder, a dream weaver, has been tasked by Zeus to discover her talent. What was once an assignment becomes so much more, when Ryder realizes that he would do just about anything to protect Zakara from Zeus and his own destructive agenda. There is so much that goes on here and so much is uncovered that is best left unsaid. No spoilers here.

Ensnared is non-stop from beginning to end. I loved it, the only thing that would make this a better read is if it were longer. Happy reading!

Ryder is a dream weaver and uses his ability to go into other's dreams and seduces them to get the answers he is seeking. However, he comes across one particular task and she is not what she seems. Zeus sends him on a mission to find out if Zakara has the same healing abilities has her mother and grandmother. But little did he know that he would actually fall for her, and hard, and fast.

Zakara, a woman who feels like she is an outsider since she has never gotten her powers. She feels like she will never get them and that she needs to live in her bubble wrapped world. However, she starts having dreams with Ryder and he comes into her dreams on a regular basis. On one particular night, their regular scene of the beach changes to a log cabin. In the morning, things are not what they seem, or are they?

Ryder and Zakara have great chemistry and are two outsiders that may have found each other at the most opportune time. Is there a really a chance for these two even after Zeus gets in the way? Can they make it back to each other?

I haven't read any of this series yet, but now that I have read this novella, I can't wait to dig into the others in the series.

A hot, fast paced and wonderful read

It's been a while since I real an Eternal Guardians novel, so I was very much looking forward to Ensnared . It really didn't disappoint either. Whilst this can be read as a stand alone story, reading the other EG novels will enhance your enjoyment of this.

The shortness of the book means a balance has to be made between world-building, plot development and characters. The book really focuses on Ryder (H) and Kara (h) so that we can get a good picture of them. I did feel a connection to the main characters, there was plenty of emotional depth and an exciting story line. However it did feel a little rushed at times, just because there was so much that needed fitting into this novella.

Ryder and Kara are very easy to like characters and their chemistry was off the charts. The plot had some interesting twists and easily held my attention throughout. In fact I read this straight through in one evening.

I thoroughly enjoyed the book and highly recommend it to lovers of fantasy/paranormal romance. It's left me wanting the author to write more full length novels in this series!

Ensnared: An Eternal Guardians Novella by Elizabeth Naughton is her newest 1001 Dark Nights books. It picks up after the last book in the series, while it can be read as a standalone, I recommend reading the previous books in order so you understand the back stories. The Eternal Guardians series is a favorite of mine based on the Greek gods. In this book we follow Zakara, aka Zara, daughter of Argonaut Zander and the dream god, Morpheus, aka Ryder. Zara has always felt plain and unspecial because she didn't have any special gifts. At her age her gifts should have manifest years ago. She escapes her real life with her dreams. Ryder is tired of serving Zeus but doesn't know what other choice he has. Both their lives are about to change. Elizabeth's ability to write about the Greek mythology with such passion is amazing. She draws you in and then shakes everything up. Her characters are so unique yet so easy to relate to. If you love mythology and a great love story then this is a series for you. With every new book can't wait to see what's next. This series is a pure delight. I received an ARC from the author. This is my voluntary honest review.

This short novella isn't limited on story, plot or romance! Zakara "Kara" is the daughter of Zander and Callia (ENTWINED) is growing bored and restless. She hasn't discovered her special gift yet so she spends time at her mother's clinic, but at night, she dreams of a hot man. Little does she realize that the hot man of her dreams is actually a dream weaver, the last of his kind, named Ryder.

Ryder, otherwise known as Morpheus, has been imprisoned by Zeus forever and is now being used by him to try and get to the Argonauts through Kara. The more time they spend together, especially once Kara's gift finally manifests, the more they realize the danger they all are in.

This is a fast read, but nothing short of engaging. The romance is fleshed out, sizzling as usual, and the plot delivers an ongoing thread of Zeus trying his best to get to the Argonauts. It's interesting to see where these characters and children of earlier characters are going in this Eternal Guardians series. It can be read as a stand alone, but why would you want to? Start at the beginning and enjoy the entirety of the main series as well as the novellas!

Another great addition to the Eternal Guardians Series

I love the Eternal Guardians series and each installment in it just continues to add to it...building on the already awesome universe that Elisabeth has created. Ensnared is another addition to the series that made me not want to leave. I love seeing them going up against the all might head Zeus and trying to fix things that he continues to screw up (per the norm).

Though what I really want to talk about is the chemistry between Ryder and Zakara...and ooooo boy, it's off the charts. If pages could burst into flame just from the heat written on them, then my Nook would be a melted pile of techno ash.

The story is nice, especially because we get visits from familiar faces (so happy to see Orpheus - I might have internally squeed) and I love being able to visit the Guardians so more. Another fabulous addition to the EG series and also the 1001 Dark Nights series.

I’ve been a huge fan of Eternal Guardians ever since Ive read Marked. In fact that’s how I was introduced to Elisabeth Naughton’s stories.

Ensnared is a great addition to the Eternal Guardians series. It’s the story of Callia’s and Zander’s daughter Zakara and Ryder ( aka Morpheus, the last dream weaver in the cosmos).
I loved both characters. Loved all the action and scorching hot love scenes. Loved to see familiar faces ( Orpheus, I’m looking at you). Loved to get the hint on who the next couple can be ( T and Z- I bet theirs will be a hot hot hot story!! And I can’t wait).

It’s a short story, so I wouldn’t recommend to start reading it if you are new to Eternal Guardians series. There is an over-arching plotline that I wouldn’t want you to miss. Instead I highly recommend to start with Marked. Believe me you won’t be disappointed.

Once again, this is a great addition to the series and I can’t wait for the next installment!

Eternal Guardians novels & novellas are some of my favorite reads. Ms. Naughton gave us fabulous characters and story lines in the full length EG novels. In the novellas, we're getting a sampling of the others who round out Argolea & the world of the Argonauts.

Ensnared gives us a glimpse of Zakara, or Kara as she's known, who is the daughter of Zander & Callia whose story was told in Entwined. This is definitely a fast paced read because of the length but do not doubt that all the elements you want are included .. hawtness, adventure & Argonauts.

While this is intended to be read as a standalone, I highly recommended starting at the beginning with "Marked" and reading through the entire series.

Thanks to the publisher & author for the opportunity to read this in advance in exchange for an honest review.

This is a novella in the author's Eternal Guardians series. I really enjoyed it and had not read any of the other series. Ryder is a dream weaver and shows up in women's dreams and the dreams are hot and sexy. Zakara, the daughter of one of the mightiest Eternal Guardians, is his perfect woman. Her dreams brings him to her and then she alters the dreams. They start out on a beach and then it shifts into a cabin in a mountain. Zeus is the one controlling Ryder and making him do his commands. I did not like Zeus at all. I am new to mythology and have always wanted to learn more but it all seems confusing and I would need to take notes and make family trees lol. But this book kept my interest going.

I haven't read that many of the Eternal Guardian series, but I'm hoping to remedy that in the future.

As a 1001 novella set within that world, it is completely capable of being read as a stand alone. And what a great story!

I've said in other reviews that novellas are tricky to get right (in my opinion) due to the restricted page/word count. That is not an issue here. You dive right into the story, but there is enough detail teased out for the reader to make a connection, both to the characters and their story arc.

Full of spice and tension, this is a big tale in a little package.

I always love Elisabeth's series and this book is no exception. I think it is precious to be able to read the love story of two of my FAVORITE characters daughter. Novellas usually seem lacking to me since they are shorter but that is not the case with this one. This book makes me wish that guys in my dreams were real haha Another thing I love about the characters is their reliability. I feel like everyone went through the stage in life where their parents were overprotective and they struggled to find there place. Zakara is such a heroine and Ryder is, of course, a manly hunk! The passion of the writing and the passion in the writing always make these books hard to put down.

An Eternal Guardians short story.

Zakara is the daughter of Zander and Callia, one of the three Horae who has the power of healing. Ryder is a dream weaver who has been ordered by Zeus to get into Zakara’s dreams to find out if she has inherited any of her mother’s powers. Zeus wants to kidnap her and use her powers to take control of the human realm, but Ryder has other plans for Zakara.

This is basically just a quick vehicle to get Kara and Ryder together. The first half has hardly any real story just a lot of sex, but later some story starts to show up though it’s not very original.

Fave scenes: arriving at the cabin and Kara’s trick on Zeus

I've been looking for a good book to read for awhile and found it with Ensnared. Elisabeth Naughton has done it again with creating characters and a world that pulls you in. I just wish it wasn't a novella, because I wanted the story to be longer.
It's been awhile that I've read a book that I didn't want to put down until it ended. I love the Eternal Guardian series and the world she has created.
I am so glad she is keeping the series going, even if some are just novellas. I find the series so captivating and well written.
Can't wait to see what she has planned for the next book in the series.

I have enjoyed many romantic suspense series by Naughton from Deadly Secrets, House of Sin and her Stolen series but have never read any of her Eternal Guardians’ series until now. Ensnared is the first of this series I have read and enjoyed. As with her other many stories, this one is just as engaging and suspenseful and has you turning pages as quickly as possible to see what happens next. This is a quick, fun, romantic novella that holds your attention from start to finish. I really enjoyed the characters, the different settings, the overall storyline and the descriptiveness of the scenes were clear and it was easy for me to envision the surroundings as I was reading. I will most definitely be seeking out more of this series to read.

Fantastic addition to the Eternal Guardians series. A great introduction and fantastic tease I tot he stories that came before. It still leaves you feeling like you have had a full story but yearning for more. I am definitely going back and reading the series from the beginning. Despite how long it had been since my last reread I fully immersed myself back into the Argonauts world within a couple of sentences. Another brilliant Greek mythology lead story further expanding a world that I had no idea had anywhere else to go!

It's been awhile since I read the Eternal Guardians series and this little nugget has me itching to re-read from the beginning. Ensnared features Ryder and Zakara and some appearances by a few other Argoleans, trying to defeat Zeus at his own game, while falling in love. It's a quick read, but has all the elements of an Elisabeth Naughton full length book. Danger, Suspense, sexiness and hits on some real emotional topics that are in the headlines today.

Nice Read.

Elisabeth Naughton’s ENSNARED is spellbinding. Ryder is a dreamweaver that has been sent to seduce Zakara to discover her powers. This novella is part of the Eternal Guardians series.

I like Zakara It took her a while to come into her power. Because of that, she doesn’t feel like she fits in. Ryder is an admiral character. He lost his entire family and is now the last dreamweaver. The two have incredible chemistry and fit together.

ENSNARED is an amazing addition to the Eternal Guardians series. The story was original and fast-paced. Elisabeth Naughton does a great job tying the story in with the rest of the series I look forward to her next book. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Ensnared is a novella by Elisabeth Naughton; part of her eternal Guardians series. I have not yet read any of the other books in this series, so perhaps that is why I liked it but wasn't swept away by it. The Eternal Guardians is a fantasy series about the Greek Gods, the Superheroes, the myths. You will need to suspend your beliefs in what your view of reality is and then you can enjoy the fairy tale. Ensnared is a love story; a story of finding ones place in the world where you don't think you fit; of family ties or lack thereof; of feeling whole and complete once you find your mate. For those of you who enjoy the fantasy books, this will definitely be you cup of tea

This is the first book in the series that I have read and I loved it! I want to go back and read the rest of the series. This is what I love about 1001 Dark Nights, readers are introduced to new authors and series with each book. Ryder is a man who makes fantasies come true for others but cant full fill his own. Zakara seems to be the only women in the world who does not fall for Ryders charms. Their love story is full of mystery and suspense. I loved this love story from page one and was sad to see it end.

The Eternal Guardians novels have evolved into novellas, most under the 1001 Dark Nights umbrella, but maybe it's for the best. While I still enjoy the mythology and characters of the original Guardians stories, these recent novellas have become formulaic and predictable. I wonder how many greek words of endearment Naughton can find to use in each story, and how many times they can outsmart Zeus, the Sirens and other deities of Olympus. Yes, I'll keep reading them - they don't take long to get through. But I'd like a surprise now and again.

Loved Kara and Ryder together. Ryder is used to being the dream weaver not having someone trying to pull him into theirs. He's seen her before in his dreams and wanted her but he's stayed away. Now he can't though, he has to do something for Zeus.

Once Kara and Ryder are together though, they're unstoppable. Ryder hasn't felt anything for someone for so long and he wants to keep Kara all to himself. Kara though has other ideas how thi should work. Will they have enough time to figure it out before Zeus does?

Zeus doesn't know what he's done until it's too late. Loved seeing him get some of his own medicine!!!
