This boxed set includes the first three books in the Blade and Rose series.
A kingdom in turmoil or the love of her life. Which one will she save?
Elemental mage Rielle hasn't heard from her best friend in far too long. Yet no one at the Tower of Magic seems to care about Olivia’s silence, or the curtain of secrecy surrounding the distant capital. Before Rielle can investigate, she's assigned a strange new mission: escort a knight named Jon across the kingdom.
When whispers reveal mercenaries have killed the king, taken the capital, and that no one is coming to help, Rielle can’t leave Olivia in peril. But as infamous mages and deadly assassins hunt Jon, she can’t leave him unprotected either--especially as she finds herself falling for his strength, his passion, and his uncompromising goodness. Her past returns to haunt her, a werewolf stalks their steps, and an ancient evil is gathering, yet the restraints forbidding their love strain and snap one by one.
Saving Olivia and the kingdom means defying orders and sacrificing her every ambition, and could mean losing the man who's become so much more to her than a mission. Which will she choose: her best friend and the kingdom, or the love of her life?
Miranda Honfleur is a born-and-raised Chicagoan living in Indianapolis. She grew up on fantasy and science fiction novels, spending nearly as much time in Valdemar, Pern, Tortall, Narnia, and Middle Earth as in reality.
In another life, her J.D. and M.B.A. were meant to serve a career in law, but now she gets to live her dream job: writing speculative fiction starring fierce heroines and daring heroes who make difficult choices along their adventures and intrigues, all with a generous (over)dose of romance.
When she’s not snarking, writing, or reading her Kindle, she hangs out and watches Netflix with her husband, gets constantly tackled by her dogs Gizmo and Luna, and plays board games with her friends.
Her next book release is the fifth volume in the romantic epic fantasy Blade and Rose series, The Dragon King, slated for release (barring any further apocalyptic events and meteors) in Q3 2021.

Absolutely fantastic! I love love love this series. It's so emotional, the characters had me screaming, crying and yelling at them for their choices and behaviour. They were all so well developed and whether or not I agreed with their choices did not distract from the great story. I loved the writing style and can't wait to read the next instalment of this epic romantic fantasy. I highly recommend if you like love triangles, moody, dark and hot love interests and independent heroines.
‘Blade and Rose’ is an excellent new Fantasy Series from new-ish author Miranda Honfleur. And now the first three books have been combined into a Boxed Set for the very reasonable price of £7.70 or $9.84 for the Americans (on Amazon). The Heroine – Favrielle or Rielle for Short – is a Mage skilled in the use of Elemental Magic who stumbles across a massive threat to the Kingdom of Emaurria (which appears to be a Fantasy version of France). Fortunately she is resourceful and brave with a strong sense of right and wrong.
What makes Rielle so formidable is the cleverness with which she wields her magic powers. There is an example of this in the First Chapter of the First Book (which can be read for free under the ‘Look inside’ Link if you press the Button to the Amazon page, so scarcely counts as a Spoiler). Rielle’s Tower of Magic is invaded by a very formidable Knight who fights and defeats (but doesn’t kill) 6 Mages in a midnight battle at the Entrance to the Tower. Realising that the Knight’s armour protects him from magic attacks, Rielle refrains from hurling yet more futile magic at him, and instead casts an elemental spell at the ground around the Knight's feet which collapses and traps him in a sea of mud – invincible warrior defeated by someone thinking outside the magic box!
The aforementioned Knight turns out to be Jon, the other major character in the Novels who is in fact a ‘Paladin’ (warrior Monks, similar perhaps to the Knights Templar and Hospitaller) and on a mission of his own. For reasons unknown, Rielle and Jon are ordered by their respective bosses to team up and continue his quest. This launches the two of them into the middle of the plot to bring down the Kingdom and which triggers a series of Wars, Betrayals, ruthless enemies, and the return of magical creatures to their world.
The characterisations and their dialogue are all highly believable and it is easy to become very fond of the two main protagonists. Their relationship (for such it becomes) is well written and developed, although there are many, many twists and turns through the three novels. This all takes place in a well-thought out ‘World Building’ setting where the magic, the politics, and the characters are as convincing as they could be in an imaginary Fantasy World!
After all these superlatives – why only 4 Stars? Well:-
1. Goodreads don’t seem to allow extra ½ Star Scores so I can’t post a 4 ½ Star score
2. There is a ‘Love Triangle’ as the Story develops. I didn’t find this so convincing as the other man in Rielle’s life is a very nasty piece of work indeed (especially in the first book). And while his character does improve as the Story progresses, the ‘redemption arc’ is a little too convenient and he is ‘forgiven’ a lot of very bad things in order to make him a potential rival to the Paladin. This is still ‘complicated’ (as Facebook might say) at the end of Book 3 although the catalyst for its resolution has already been staged, unknown to either Rielle or Jon as of yet. Nevertheless, this does all add even further suspense to the Plot and encourages much frantic page-turning. I would highly recommend reading these Novels, as well as Book 4 in the Series ‘Queen of the Shining Sea’ which has been out since end of August. I have already pre-ordered Book 5 which is due out in March next year, with the Final Volume apparently planned for release next Summer…
If you know me, you know how much I LOVE this series. It’s now being sold as a bundle for the first three books and that cover NEEDS to be in your life and on your e-reader! You won’t be disappointed.
I loved Miranda Honfleur’s Blade and Rose series. They are highly addictive and totally wonderful. I’m confident that anyone who reads the first book will be compelled to read the others. That being the car, a Books 1-3 Digital Boxed Set is a great investment.
Here are my reviews of each book in the boxset.
Blade & Rose (Book 1)
“Which will she choose: her best friend and the kingdom, or the love of her life?” This book is quite a bit overwhelming, but in a good way. There’s so much going on That’s it’s hard to give it a decent description, though luckily the Goodreads blurb does a good enough job and certainly gives s sense of the tone. I love Rielle, her talents as an elemental mage and her kick-a** approach to life in the face of daunting challenges and devastatingly hard to make decisions. The supporting cast is also excellent, with all of the key characters being layered and having unique voices. Add that to excellent world building and an exciting and well-written plot. The result is a definite winner. Highly recommended.
By Dark Deeds (Book 2)
By Dark Deeds (Blade and Rose Book 2) is indeed a darker book than its predecessor and first in the series, Blade & Rose. Nevertheless it is equally good as that simply superb first book. As noted in the publisher’s blurb, our superb heroine, Elementalist Rielle, in a prisoner a full desert away from Jon, the man she loves. She’s living under horribly harsh conditions, shackled, watched, underfed and woefully unsafe. Even worse she knows that Jon, who is facing “wars, widespread hunger, unrest, and politics” (the last of these being the most dangerous) while being pursued by an assassin. I have faith in Rielle, but this is going to be tough even for her. Luckily we readers simply have to enjoy the ride following along. Highly recommended.
Court of Shadows (Book 3)
I loved Blade & Rose and By Dark Deeds, the first two books of Miranda Honfleur’s Blade and Rose series. Now the author is back with book 3, Court of Shadows, and it’s a true treat.
Master Mage Rielle has two easy options: compete and win the post of magister of Magehold, which will include finding out who killed her family and being able to stamp out the piracy that has been running rampant along the Emaurrian coast, or die. Luckily Rielle is the epitome of a kick-a** heroine so I’d not be fast to bet against her - and, as a reader, following along as she takes on all comers is one heck of a fun, if wild, ride. Highly recommended.
I really REALLY couldn't stop reading this! The world building, characters, and story arcs are awesome! The magic use was great and I loved the different Immortal beings present throughout the stories. There is adult romance in these books, and it's very well done. One of the most heart wrenching love triangles/enemy-to-lovers I've ever read, that spans through all three books. I will definately be finishing this series, and I've picked a favorite hero. Honestly, I have no idea how everything will turn out, but hoping for a HEA for Jon and Rielle, or I'll absolutely die.
From the very beginning I was hooked to Rielle and Sir Jonathan Ver. Their chemistry was off the charts.
The second book turns into a train wreck. In a morbidly fascinating way, taking you deeper and deeper into despair, with both hero and heroine, as the inevitable is sure to happen. And then that crash happens. My heart broke reading this book. Several times.
Third book is serious and emotional. I think I was in denial the whole time. I really wanted to like the antagonist in this, but damn it I just can't.
It would be good to read the prequel first for some interesting background on Jon, Rielle, and Leigh. I have reviewed the individual books, and won't repeat them here. I'll just say, it was an enjoyable read despite some of the slow sections for an overall five stars. Once the action gets underway, it's hard to put the book down. Be ready with a search engine to investigate the archaic and extensive vocabulary. You will learn a lot of new words. There is a lot of pain, grief and suffering, more than I'm really comfortable with. If you're looking for humor or a "happily ever after", this isn't it. I had to read some lighter books by other authors between the books. Some of the magic is pretty over-the-top, a big helping of suspended disbelief is required to accept some of the feats. The laws of physics, chemistry, and thermodynamics are totally upended by magic in this universe. It does add to the excitement, though.
I downloaded the set for free on Amazon. It’s... Mills & Boone, with magic and love triangles and court intrigue in one fuzzy blanket.
I’m no prude but the way the main protagonist swings between lovers made me wonder if she was a nymphomanic by accident or design. When did being a strong woman have to mean she can hop between lovers with nary a pause is beyond me (she makes Queen Gertrude seems like a sloth by comparison).
The straight sex scenes were pages and pages of sizzle. The gay couple gets a brief mention by comparison, if we’re doing yardstick measurements.
The plot is decent. I liked the story, but am not motivated enough to get the other books, since it looks like the heroine is going to change her main love interest... again.

Ms.Honfleur plans six volumes in this series. The first three volumes, available in this digital boxed set , leaves this reader rushing to purchase volume four.Volume five is due out in February 20 19th and if book 4 &5 are half as much fun as reading the first three the hours of reading pleasure ahead will be like Christmas coming early.Sword swinging monk like heros, Kingdoms in peril from immortal monsters and evil magic users opposed by magic users with the best intentions but lacking vital information. The highs vs the lows.Love triangles, plain lusty scenes and loveable monsters .No kitchen sinks,
Best way to read this series is in a box set! I read each book individually and I hated the wait in between the books. Here I get them all in one spot and can binge read to my hearts delight. Action, suspense, twists and turns and lots of great characters to fall in love with! Rielle and Jon stole my heart from the first chapter and I am rooting for them even though they have a lot of challenges to face. Brennan is the type of character you want to hate but end up changing your mind as his true colors are revealed. Dive into an epic adventure and romantic fantasy!
I read all of these separate so getting the set is super! You don't have to wait for the next one. I couldn't believe all the different twists turns and plots that encompass this series. I love love love the triangle of the hearts and just like her I couldn't make up my mind... the suspense is REAL! The LOVE is Real! The pain and hurt is Real! the adventure is fast moving and I couldn't read the words fast enough. Hope you enjoy them as much as I did!
A bit of a rambling tale, the romance erotica is better than most. Action sequences are tame when it comes to a blow by blow accounting. The overall story arc is quite good, there seems to be a very long story with several point of view divisions in the future. The box set manages to end short of a cliffhanger. Were this story told a little more straightforward it would be easy to date four stars.
have read everything that J.L. Hendricks has wrote and almost everything from Micheal Anderle. This is as good as it gets! Another amazing story that draws you in and takes you along. Follow Mia as she gets tossed into the school for half fae. She learns about who she is and what she is along with making new friends. It’s not easy but worth it in the end. I really hope to see more books in this series. After getting drawn into the story I want to see where it goes. Excellent writing!
These stories are awesome! Getting as a box set just makes sense. The storyline is fast-paced and unique, filled with twists and turns, magic and mayhem, adventure, intrigue, danger, tragedy and romance. The characters are well developed and endearing. The world-building is wonderful. These stories will definitely take you on one wild roller coaster ride from start to finish!
All I can say is wow! Miranda's world of Emaurria pulls you in and doesn't let you go! I'm so attached to so many of the main characters now and am hoping for happy endings for them all in the end. I highly recommend this series for any that love romance fantasy, magic, dragons, elves, and any other mythical creatures as more and more keep surfacing throughout.
I really enjoyed most of these books, until it came to the relationships... it was realistic in the sense that everything wasn’t perfect, but also incredibly frustrating how the decisions and events of the book are destroying good relationships and I just hope that it gets resolved in the later books!
This series is one of my ultimate favorites! You have this bad ass heroine and a crew of characters that you fall in love with. The writing just sucks you in and doesn’t let go! I cannot wait to find out what happens in the next book!!!!
Just gets better and better with each successive book
I don’t like to give spoilers on the books that I read. I believe the blurb on the back is enough for you to decide if you will read the book or not. If you choose to read, enjoy!
This is a return of mystical creatures and the honorable people seeking peace for the innocent regardless of status. These books encompass love, loss, betrayal and loyalty.
All three books kept me up reading until the small hours. I despaired at times with Riels inability to stop and listen, instead of just running away. I wanted more Mermaids!
An amazing series that draws you in and keeps you stuck. Miranda manages to torture her characters and readers alike with this amazing series. Unique and enchanting. Can’t wait to finish the series!
