So, this was my first Lea's read and it definitely won't be my last.

But there were couple things that I did not like.

Do you ever come across a character that has a big secret but doesn't want to tell it and on the other side is a character who is basically transparent, you know everything about him? (it goes both ways but usually I read more about heroines being more secretive)
And then they start a relationship but still... she doesn't tell her biggest secret and when it's later revealed she's like ''Oh, I wish I'd tell it sooner''?
Well, I HATE those characters. And Evelyn is one of them.
She has a secret but doesn't want to tell it. Even her friend is warning her to tell Connor but Evelyn constantly postpones. She said she'll tell him after the holidays but get this, the holidays are actually the most traumatic for her!! So, you think you'll get through the holidays without telling him? And I absolutely hate when a heroine is like ''there is no time''. You are in a relationship. You're with him 24/7, you live with him and you are telling me there's no time?? No time to tell him a secret that is only hurting you more because you're afraid of what he'll think?
I wish I could rant more about her but I think I'll spoil the book for you.
Long story short, I did not like Evelyn much. I just couldn't deal with her actions. I hated when Connor said their relationship had mutual trust because it hadn't. And I think she could tell him waaay sooner. Lots of problems would be solved.

I also didn't understand how in a house even though you're sleeping you can't hear someone playing guitar. He played it at night when she was sleeping in her room and yet she couldn't hear him. Not even him singing. How????

The book (I read it in English) also had a couple grammatical mistakes and I did not like when paragraphs were not separated. One moment they were talking, the next sentence is a completely different action. I was confused for a couple of seconds until I realized the sentences were not together.

3.5 stars.

What a great story. I was completely emersed into Everly and Connor's story from the very first page. It was such sad circumstances that brought them together but they were able to help each other finally heal and feel stong enough to move on with their lives and to believe in love once again.
Adorable little Ava was just the icing on the cake for me. A book I would highly recommend so get your copy now!!

5 stars for Only A memory by J. Lea. Wow this book was an emotional roller coaster. Connor and Everly have both had a rough life. They both never thought they could love again. “Love can be freeing, and sometimes it’s almost as important as oxygen.” I was hooked from the first page of Everly and Connor’s story. The theme through-out this book is basically it is better to have love and lost than to have never loved at all. These two have both suffered tragedies but maybe they were meant to meet. Maybe their sous were destined to find each other so they could help each other heal.
“Love can be like sun, smiling at us from the sky-warm, freeing, and infinitely beautiful. But it can suddenly turn into a devastating tornado, leaving nothing but destruction in its wake. And the consequences, if you survive are brutal.”
Connor and Everyly’s story toe at my heart . This is what I would call a second chance romance. If you want a book that will give you emotional whiplash and stick with you for a long time , then Only A Memory is the book for you . You will not be disappointed if you give it a try.

What an awesome story, I really loved it!
Everly gains employment as a carer, and on her first day of work, well, things aren't quite as she thought they'd be.
Everly has her hang-ups, and things she's trying to work her way through, which make her the lovely, caring lady she is. But there's an insanely hot man and his young daughter in the house too...
Little Ava is a cutie and soon she and Everly are friends. So that leaves Daddy, Connor, a man with a past and plenty of heartbreak, trying to cope with an attraction that he has no control over.
As pasts are uncovered, will they be able to continue with their new feelings or will heartbreak follow on again?
Must Read!

Only a memory by J. Lea is a beautiful combination of love and loss, happiness and pain and I felt so many emotions reading this story. Behind their separate tragedies lies two souls that are meant to be together. Both Connor and Everly stole a place in my heart and well as little Ava. As for Dana, my claws came out.

Only a Memory is a well written, five star read for me. This is the first book I have read by this author and I'm grateful to have found her.

First and foremost have tissue when you read this book. This is a warning with doing. I cried so many times but also laughed so hard. Meeting Everly and Connor is everything you need in your life. For sure Ava stole my heart from the beginning. I love that they both had a story to tell and it wasn’t rushed and it gave me enough detail to understand the whole story. J.Lea you did it everything perfect.

It better to have love and lost....

than never to have loved at all. or is it? Time heals all wounds, right?

Tragedy is a mountain to scale. Some come out on top. Others can't make it off the side. Some never attempt the climb.
A few conquer the whole range and find beauty again.

This is not one tragic tale, but two. It is also fairly realistic and sweet. The characters are funny and easy to enjoy. HEA.

A must-read!

Amazing book with a gripping story (yes, an all-nighter. You can't put it down.) Heartwarming and heartwrenching, makes you lough-out-loud and ugly-cry at the same time.
Love the characters and their growth through the pain, love the dynamics of their relationship and love the love they have for eachother and those arround them.

This book was pretty incredible! Parts of it have you dancing on the edge of your seat in excitement. Parts have wondering what the heck is going on or what is being hidden. Parts have you wanting to rip a character out of the book by her hair and taking her out behind the wood shed to have a “good talking to.” I will warn you there is a part of this book that had me absolutely heartbroken, sad, and completely sobbing. Love how this book ends and how the lives of the characters have transformed and the future possibilities you see and dream of.

Everly is looking for a new job. We are not sure what has happened but, she had not quelled in quite some time. She used to be a pediatric nurse, but is not able to go back to that profession. She interviews for an in home caregiver and begins to do her job. This chance meeting will change her life forever.

Connor is a single dad and business owner. He has been widowed for six years and he and his daughter have a great relationship. Because he is a single father, he questions whether he is doing the right thing constantly. His in-laws living with him have been a godsend.

When Everly and Connor meet, there is an attraction, however because Everly is an employee, neither one of them will move forward to see where things could go. The more time they spend together, the more they get to know each other and the more they open up with each other. They have both had so much loss in their lives, they are like a balm for each other that neither of them thought they would ever have, want, or need.

Wonderful story that slowly unfolds and keeps your attention all the way through.

These characters! I’m so heartbroken for them! Hey have both been broken in the worst ways and and a job brings them together. The way they are attracted and the way they help heal is so sweet. Ava is funny and a sweet addition to the story. She definitely is funny and keep them on their toes!
