Ryder Hammond and Sierra Knight used to be young lovers in high school and they both loved each other so very much. They had their life planned out but Ryder got the grand idea that she was giving up too much for him because she had wanted to go away to college but now she wanted to stay and go locally to be with him. For some reason he thought he knew best. To give her what he was sure she needed he broke up with her and let her think he didn't love her anymore. He decimated her heart and she has never been the same. But all along he loved her like mad while he saw other women and sexed them up... Love....not my kind of love.

On her wedding day to a nice guy she liked but not loved he stops the wedding and steals her away.

I despise when the hero (and I use this word loosely) thinks he knows what is best for the woman he loves. Now that they were talking he is still trying to convince her he did if for her.

What disappointed me greatly is that throughout the book I didn't ever believe he had learned his lesson. It still hadn't penetrated his thick skull that it had been her choice to made.

They were such young lovers but now when they get back to together she sees all the sexual expertise and experience he now has knowing he had been with others while she was gone. This was such a disappointment.

I just feel it is so wrong for someone other than yourself to make life changing decisions for you because they are arrogant enough to think they know what's best. I read two books in this series today and I won't be reading anymore. This author is not for me. Too much talk in her books about the women who came and went in the heroes life. It made me want to hurl. Never Again!!

I cannot recommend and regretted reading this.

Carly Phillips pens an intriguing story when a man dares to object during the wedding of his ex-girlfriend and his best friend’s little sister. A novella attached to her new Knight Brothers series, Take The Bride was an enjoyable second chance at love romance.

Sierra Knight is all set to marry a man who she knows will fulfill her wishes of hearth, home, and family and while she doesn’t feel all consuming passion, he’s a nice guy and devoted to her. Seeing Ryder Hammond at the ceremony shouldn’t have thrown her, he is her older brother’s best friend, but for some reason despite the fact he broke her heart years ago, she can’t help but wonder what life with him would have been like if he hadn’t broken up with her. When he objects during the ceremony and she can’t take her eyes off of him, suddenly her dream wedding turns to chaos and her fiancé is not happy.

While Sierra is still harboring hurt from their young love break-up, Ryder is harboring guilt and he convinces her to spend a couple of days with him so they can talk rationally as adults and he hopes find their way back to one another. While I don’t disagree with Ryder’s reason for breaking up, I do hate when men decisions for women without discussing it, Sierra however is able to put aside her hurt and the passion they once had burned brighter than ever.

Take the Bride was a satisfying and sexy story and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I devoured this delightful story in one blissful sitting. The characters were once high school sweethearts, but their story starts as the heroine is about to marry another man. So when the preacher asks if anyone has a reason the couple shouldn’t wed, the hero stands up. What follows is a very emotional reunion between two people who never stopped loving one another, but in order for them to have a future together, they need to put their painful past behind them. Carly Phillips does an amazing job at bringing these characters to life even within the very limited bounds of a novella, and I now plan to read every single book in this series.

Book Review for Take the Bride: A Knight Brothers Novella

This is a first time author for us and we really enjoyed our first read by them.I loved the story from beginning to end it was fun and flirty and sexual and all about righting the wrongs of ones past and all about second chances and hopefully getting that happily ever after that you envisioned as a teenager.

Ryder and Sierra were super hot together and were just one of those couples that just fit and even after years apart they still loved each other with intense passion never forgotten. We loved that they just came apart in others arms time and time again and all it took was one heated look !

Overall we loved this story it was one of those feel good stories and for a novella it was packed with tons of fun and a whole lot of heat. The story had amazing characters and we loved each and every one of them.

5 star review Take The Bride (The Knight Brothers #1.5) by Carly Phillips

This is a second chance at love story that I found totally captivating. A long time ago Ryder Hammond and Sierra Knight were in love, until he made a decision which changed both there lives and left Sierra devastated.

Now Sierra is getting married and Ryder is attending in an effort to get closure. The last thing he or anyone else expects is that he will object when the the minister asks if anyone has any objections, speak now or forever hold your peace. In doing this Ryder sets in motion a series of events that will be change both Sierra’s and his lives forever.

Sierra is shocked and heartbroken when her fiance Jason storms out of the church leaving her and when Ryder offers to take her from the church she agrees, knowing she cannot face what is waiting at home.

Ryder asks for a time to explain his actions from the past and to convince Sierra that he has changed Both Sierra and Ryder need to come to terms with the past, to forgive each other and perhaps then create the life together they both once dreamed of.
The question is can Sierra learn to trust the man who left her shattered?

I loved Sierra, she is feisty, independent, a woman who knows her own mind and is focused; Ryder I fell for hard and fast . Take The Bride although a novella, was at times a bit of an emotional roller coaster, with plenty of steam and hotness to satisfy any Carly Phillips reader.

The characters, in fact the whole family drew me in and kept me riveted till the last page. I am anxious to see where Ms. Phillips takes this series and cannot wait for the next book in the series.

A second chance romance.

Hot and short Novella. There isn't much to elaborate on, the blurb says it all really, all that's missing are the bits in between which I did find heartwarming.

As the blurb states the bride is whisked away to a remote holiday resort one they used to dream about when they were young lovers before they parted ways, Sierra didn't kick up much of a fight, Ryder was her Teenage first love and she was devastated when their relationship ended a few years ago before she went off to college.

Ryder had his reasons for letting Sierra go but she is still his in his heart and mind and he wasn't going to let her marry another man.

A story of timing, second chances and forever love.

There are a whole lot of books in the 1001 Dark nights series, each book written by a different author, its a great way of trying out new to you authors. Each book is a standalone.

Dark nights is a novella and is told in third person. My first book by this author, I would possibly read more but I do prefer first person pov.

For a novella, that was very satisfying, and can genuinely be enjoyed without reading the first book (even though I read them back to back). Somehow, it was both emotionally fulfilling AND chock-full of sexy content. How?! Pretty impressive.

This is Sierra and Ryder's story, who we met in Take Me Again.

I was very interested in learning more about the connection and past between Ryder and Sierra because you could tell something had happened.

I really wanted to love this story, I'm a total sucker for second chance romances, but this one just didn't do it for me. I just didn't really like Sierra and Ryder or the way they handle pretty much anything; mostly I couldn't handle how everything could have been avoided or stopped with a simple conversation. Ryder broke up with Sierra when she was 18 and they never and I mean never talked about what happened even though he still attended every Knight family function and stayed besties with her brother, Sebastian. I will say it was sweet how Ryder tried to win her back, but again this book takes place in 3 days and one of those days was the wedding.

There were so many ways to have handled this situation, but I just didn't like it and I'm not even mad at Jason; by the time Sierra actually talked to her fiance, she was already with Ryder, so yeah not my favorite book.

Take the Bride is a sweet second-chance romance even though that second chance comes at the expense of a failed wedding ceremony.

Ryder and Sierra were high school sweethearts and although Ryder is her brothers best friend it did not pose a problem for them as their relationship developed.

Ryder and Sierra had the type of relationship that would have withstood the test of time if only they stuck together. Unfortunately, Ryder took that option away from Sierra believing he was giving her freedom to life her dreams. Not comprehending that Sierra’s dreams meant nothing without him.

You know the idiom – if you love something let it go – well that kind of backfired when Ryder finds himself watching Sierra walk down the aisle to another man. Without thought to the consequences Ryder takes the leap and declares his objection to the wedding. To say all hell breaks loose would be an understatement.

Whisking Sierra away from the chaos they end up at the place they once dreamed of taking their own honeymoon!!!! Hiding out and exploring their feelings for each other while doing so.

While the relationship between Ryder and Sierra takes off like a rocket; it should be remembered that they have a lot of history between them and their feelings for each other never really went away – they only pretended they did for each other.

Although I did feel for Jason when his wedding was hijacked by Ryder, it was obvious that he did not have the depth of feeling for Sierra as Ryder. There had been subtle hints through Take Me Again as to the incompatibility of our ill-fated couple which as luck or rather Ryder would have it resulted in Sierra having the man she truly deserved.

I do enjoy the 1001 Dark Knights novellas from my favourite authors, it enables some of our favourite characters to get a turn in the spotlight they may not have otherwise had 💕

A quick read that still packs a mighty punch, Take the Bride is a second chance romance that captivated me, I loved everything about this book.
Ryder and Sierra were in love but that was many moons ago and that was before he made the decision without consulting her to change their life’s forever..... Now Sierra is about to marry another man and when the priest asks if anyone has any objections, speak now or forever hold your peace, Ryder speaks up, the groom leaves the church and Ryder takes off with Sierra to convince her that’s this time around he is here to stay.......
Second chance romance at its best and characters you will adore what more do you want in a great read. Ryder stole a piece of my heart and I really don’t think I’m getting it back anytime soon, Sierra is everything I admire in a woman she knows her mind, she is independent and focused and together these two are perfect. I connected to the whole family in this short read and I can’t wait to see where this very talented author takes us next.

5 The Ultimate Second Chance Stars

This book is a perfect addition to the Knight Brothers series. This is Sierra, their baby sister's story and truly it's the ultimate second chance. Imagine being at the altar with the man you've agreed to spend the rest of your life with and someone actually objects when that pesky question is asked!!!

I felt so bad for her on one hand but on the other, the guy she's marrying is NOT the man for her... I know this because of what happens when the ruckus starts! And Ryder is her first love and the man that is truly meant for her. Even after these last several years their connection and chemistry is STILL vibrant and alive.

We get to be on their quick and sexy journey back to finding their way back to each other. I laughed, I swooned and I cheered them on!! I'm so thrilled we got their story and Sierra and Ryder get the best HEA!!!

Take the Bride is book 2 in the Knight Brothers series by Carly Phillips. This is a novella but wish it was longer...well written and sexy too! 4.5 stars

Sierra and Ryan were sweethearts years ago but he broke her heart when HE decided that she needed to pursue her dreams before they could possible settle down together. The breakup took them down totally different paths and now years later, Sierra is set to get married.

While Ryan has remained friends with her brothers he has hidden the fact that no matter where his life took him he has never stopped loving Sienna...this story takes us on a journey to finding that sometimes even a young heart knows when it’s found his soulmate...can he watch her get married to another man or will he finally wake up to what has been missing in his life??

Here's another hit by this fantastic author!! I am so in love with the Knight Brothers and when I saw that Ms. Phillips was writing a novella about the brothers' sister, Sierra, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. I absolutely love Sierra. She is feisty and Ryder well what can I say about him except WOW, I am seriously swooning. Ryder has his work cut out for him to win Sierra back. I couldn't put this little novella down until it was finished and even then I found myself wanting more of these two. Their chemistry is off the charts!! And while obviously I am talking about some serious sexual chemistry but their emotional chemistry is just as explosive. I simply can not wait for the rest of this series!! An easy 5 star read and one I would absolutely recommend to others!! Great job on another great read!!

Oh, these alpha males who make decisions for their girlfriends, because they "know" what's best.  GAH!

But I confess, when they are written like this, I just eat it up!

Now this format doesn't allow for a lot of scene setting.  You are thrust straight into the action, or, in this case, the church.  I didn't care about that.  This story was just fabulous.  It flowed beautifully, and just carried me along with it.

Just lovely.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

Quick and fun, second chance romance
5 stars

When I first read the blurb for this book, I assumed it was going to be a wham-bam, caveman takes his woman, type of book. And while that would have been fine, it actually wasn’t much like that at all. It was more of a slow-burn. Well, a slow-burn with sex.

The story was a fairly simple second-chance romance with a twist on the circumstances of the reconciliation. Despite that, the writing really elevated the story to something special that made me keep those pages turning and turning. It’s a short story - just 125 pages - so you’ll devour it in no time at all.

Sierra was a likeable character and you could understand and sympathise with her plight and confusion over what to do. I mean, what would you do if you thought the love of your life was lost to you? You can sulk or move on with second best - even though you’ll always be aware he’s second best.

Ryder was absolutely delicious. Such a rugged, alpha man who’s determined to win back the heart of the girl he’s always loved. He just needed a boot up the bum for him to realise it’s now or never. And he’s going to make sure it’s now.

The sex was wonderful but it was actually more of the banter and intimacy that caught my attention and captured my heart. These two were made for each other which made this a sighworthy and swoonworthy romance.

This book is technically the second book in the Knight Brothers series but stands completely alone (and it does because I haven’t read the first book in the series, Take Me Again). Sebastian from that book does appear in this book - along with the other Knight brothers - but not with Ashley, although she is mentioned.

This was a fun taster of Carly Phillips’ books and it’s made me want to read more of the Knight Brothers series. She’s got me hooked with this quick, fun and happy romance. 5 stars.

TAKE THE BRIDE by Carly Phillips is book 1.5 in The Knight Brothers Series. This is the story of Ryder Hammond and Sierra Knight. I have read the previous book but feel you can make this a standalone book.
Sierra and Ryder were high school sweethearts until Ryder broker her heart. Now in the present day Sierra is set to marry Jason. Its the day of their Wedding and the minister is asking the question if anyone objects to this marriage and Ryder comes forward. Now Ryder is asking for time to prove that they should be together.
Quick easy read...loved it.

Take the Bride is a novella in the A Knight Brothers series by Carly Phillips. The Knight in question is a sister and not a brother and Ryder is Sebastian's best friend. I am a sucker for the best friend's sister/brother trope and I am a fan of Carly Philips so there was no question as to whether or not I would request an ARC for this book. As it turns out, I shouldn't have asked for the book. Before you say something I would like to note that I know that the book is a novella and I have read plenty of 1001 dark nights books. I found the story rushed. I know that the author had to fit a lot of things in, but days after finishing the book, I feel like it was too abrupt and the pieces of the story were not glued together very well. It pains me to say that, but I feel like the transition from marrying a man to falling in love with another in a span of a few days could have been better. Maybe if there was a slight time-jump or something I would have felt better. I will not recommend or not recommend the book.

•••••••••••

REVIEW: 4.25 stars--TAKE THE BRIDE is instalment 1.5 in Carly Phillips contemporary, adult KNIGHT BROTHERS erotic, romance series and the author’s latest addition to the multi-authored 1001 Dark Nights. This is Ryder Hammond and Sierra Knight’s story line. TAKE THE BRIDE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalment is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Ryder and Sierra) TAKE THE BRIDE is a second chance romance between former high school sweethearts Ryder Hammond and Sierra Knight. Having fallen in love with his best friend’s sister, Ryder and Sierra began making plans for the future but our hero decided that seventeen year old Sierra needed to experience the world, and pushed her away, into a new life at college and beyond. Fast forward to present day wherein Sierra is about to marry a man with whom she is not in love. Enter Ryder Hammond who is willing to stand up for the woman he has never stopped loving. What ensues is the rebuilding romance between Ryder and Sierra, as they together, once again, make plans for the future.

Ryder Hammond walked away but never forgot about Sierra Knight. Having kept in touch through her brother Sebastian, Ryder had no idea what he was about to do when he stopped the wedding of the woman he loved. Sierra Knight wasn’t in love with the man she was about to marry but saying that our heroine didn’t expect to find herself a run-away bride.

The relationship between Ryder and Sierra is a second chance romance; a rekindling relationship between former high school sweethearts and lovers, a relationship destroyed by best intentions gone wrong. Hoping to convince Sierra they belong together Ryder embarks on a two day seduction of the woman he loves. The $ex scenes are erotic and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are reintroduced to Sierra’s brothers: Sebastian, Ethan and Parker, as well as the introduction of Sierra’s former fiancé Jason Armstrong.

TAKE THE BRIDE is a steamy and sexy story; a realistic and spirited couple whose rekindling leads to a happily ever after.

I’m not nearly as in love with author Carly Phillips as some of the other Goodreads reviewers seem to be. I think she’s a solid contemporary romance writer who knows how to tell a decent story checking all the prerequisite boxes for the genre especially the “sex sells” one. Evidently I like her enough to have downloaded the balance of her Knight Brother series after reading the second book, Take Me Down Again. I suppose its because the series is The Knight Brothers it explains why the only female sibling Sierra, gets a novella rather than a full length book. Still I found Sierra’s story entertaining and long enough.
Sierra had fallen in love with Ryder (her older brother Sebastian’s best friend) when she was a seventeen-year-old high school senior. Before meeting Ryder she’d had plans to go away to college and do all the things a normal affluent college student would want to do. After falling for Ryder she changed her plans to attend college locally. Ryder wisely realized that at seventeen Sierra was too young to make their relationship the focus of her life. So, he broke up with her devastating her. Now it’s several years later. Because Ryder is still Sebastian’s best friend he and Sierra come into frequent contact with each other but never speak. Sierra is now engaged to Jayson, a good guy who offers her a lifetime of emotional security but doesn’t fire her blood with passion like Ryder did. As the book opens Sierra is ready to walk down the aisle to a waiting Jayson. She’s having second thoughts which she’s trying to ignore as just normal pre-wedding cold feet. But as she passes Ryder when she walks down the aisle on oldest brother Ethan’s arm, their gazes lock and her doubts about marrying Jayson increase. During the ceremony when the priest asks “does anyone have reason these two should not be joined in holy matrimony?” Ryder can’t keep quiet and announces he does. At that point the entire ceremony becomes chaos. Even though Sierra wants to continue on with the ceremony, Jayson accuses Sierra of always having been in love with Ryder and storms out of the church. At his beseeching Sierra agrees to talk to Ryder in private outside the church. The next thing she knows she’s getting in his car and falls asleep. So yes, Ryder took the bride. When she wakes up they’re pulling into a honeymoon resort in the Poconos. The rest of the story is all really predictable if entertaining. IMHO the best writing was when upon returning home after spending two days with Ryder, Sierra goes to speak with Jayson to clear the air. There was just something about the way Sierra accepted responsibility for her part in what happened and the guilt she felt for rejecting Jayson’s entreaty to try and work things out because she now realized Ryder was the only man she could ever really love that felt real. I thought her character handled the difficult situation with as much class and dignity and grace as possible. And I give her extra credit because even though it was Jayson who walked out on her in the middle of the ceremony, she reached out to him and went to his office to clear the air.
I particularly enjoyed the epilogue that showed Sierra and Ryder two years down the road. It was a truly great happily ever after.

My Thoughts:
A second chance love story with a shocking objection.

This is my very first time reading 1001 Dark Nights and also a romance by Carly Phillips. I wasn't disappointed at all since the author is great a delivering a great romance. The truth is that this book did not disappoint me at all because the writer makes you want to explore every detail of this story from the first page.

Take the Bride is a story that makes us turn pages quickie because we want to know how it is going to end. This is a story about finding an early age True love, losing it and claiming that love back again. Sierra knew what she wanted and had great dreams of studying away from her home and leaving her brothers behind until she fell in love with Ryder.
This romance consumed them both quickly but it also ended as fast as it started. Ryder made some decisions that broke the heart of his beloved. But he did it thinking about his love. Despite all the time, they were apart and they still have feelings and one day decided it was time to return to claim what belonged to him.

Maybe the way he did it, was not the best since we were all surprised to read what happened. Sierra at that time was confused but I think she also felt a little liberated since she was going to take the wrong decision. Despite the Great show and the rage she felt against Ryder, she decides to leave with her first love.

Being with Ryder, Sierra realized that never someone else had made her feel like him. Regardless of the time, no one had the power to captivate her the way Ryder did from the beginning but also the fact that he broke his heart left her so damaged that she did not want to feel that way again.
The love of this couple was and is so intense and consumer that none of them can get away just like a bird flying to a flame ready to burn. The pace of the story is very fast and that is good because it takes you to turn page after page and in a blink of the eyes you are done with it.

Each scene is very well written and also erotic but without anything vulgar. Ryder is without a doubt my favorite character since he did not give up and although she told him that in one way or another he knew that he had to give him a chance because he had already damaged her. This story really is a combination of love, intimacy, honesty, and heart. Each line of the author led you to have a deeper connection with each of the characters and understand the complexity of each of them and their situations. I'm sure you will not be able to put down this book. The ending and epilogue are totally perfect. I really love reading epilogue that gives us a look at the future that had this couple. Overall, it's a story that teaches us that sometimes giving a second chance is the best thing that can happen to us in life.

Take the Bride lives up to the 1001 Dark Nights promise--a decent intro to a new author, or a small taste of a favorite one! This time it's Carly Phillips, who I've read in the past but it's been a while.

I'm always interested to see where an author takes a left-at-the-altar story; writing one as a novella, though, has got to be a challenge. Can you give enough reason in such a short format for a character to convincingly bail on their wedding? I haven't read the first book in the series, so I don't know if there are clues in that one that Sierra perhaps shouldn't be marrying the guy she's getting ready to walk down the aisle toward at the start of this book; Ms Phillips doesn't really give Sierra a lot of time to go from gliding regally to the Wedding March to running out of the church with another man--though her intended groom's reaction definitely clues you in that it's probably for the best that they didn't go through with it.

To be honest I wasn't 100% behind Sierra and Ryder for the first half of the book--he seemed more than a little overbearing, and all she seemed to do was sleep in between short bouts of aggravated wakefulness. I really didn't like the reason why they broke up originally (one of those situations where the man knows what's best and is going to make decisions for the two of them without ever bothering to explain those decisions to her) and it's not clear how the two of them could have continued to see each other for years (he's still BFFs with one of her older brothers, and comes to family things all the time, apparently) but never resolved things.

That said, the second half of the book is much better--watching them rekindle their relationship is satisfying, and the ending was very sweet. As someone who lives in between two often tacky honeymoon destinations (Niagara Falls and the Poconos, where two days of the story take place), I found the descriptions of the resort they find themselves at highly amusing and the descriptions of resort clothing spot-on.

Take the Bride worked just fine as a standalone. Though all three Knight brothers play small roles here, you don't have to have read the first book in the series to enjoy this one--the focus here really is on Sierra and Ryder. I honestly couldn't even tell you right now without looking which brother is the hero of book one, so...

Rating: 4 stars / B-

What could possibly go wrong on Sierra Knights wedding day? Everything was perfect, the groom was ready, she was set to walk down the aisle, the guests had arrived, the music was playing, the wedding party was in place. All that needed to happen was for her to make it to the altar. Nerves, that all it was, but her brother sensing it, asked "are you sure this is what you want?" Taking a deep breath and thinking about her groom waiting says, "I know I'll have a good life with Jason." That said she begins her walk to her groom taking in the guests as she goes when her eye catches on the one man who broke her heart, her first love and also her brother Sebastian's best friend, Ryder! Remembering the dreams they once shared, the plans for their own wedding, sharing their hopes and dreams gave her pause, however, she continued on to her waiting groom. When the minister asks if anyone has any objections speak now or forever hold their peace.. Ryder can't seem to stop himself when he stands and says 'yes'. Chaos ensues at the church, Jason ends up leaving and Sierra is left heartbroken. Ryder offers to take her away from it all and to explain himself. Rather than face going home alone to all the reminders of the life she just lost, the gifts and packed boxes for moving in with her new husband, she lets him lead her away.

With no destination in mind, Ryder just drives as Sierra sleeps next to him after giving in to the exhaustion of the emotional day. He finds himself at a couples resort sharing a room with no change of clothes or plans for what comes next. Can Sierra learn to trust Ryder again? Will he leave her again? Is their love forever this time? Ryder and Sierra will capture your heart and you will fall in love with them as they discover that maybe you can go back and get that second chance at the dreams you thought you lost.

Of course with all Carly books, it ends to soon for me but you won't be disappointed with the magic she creates with these two characters. The Knight series is quickly becoming one of my favorites of Carly so don't miss out!

~ 4 Second Time Around Stars ~

Take the Bride is a great novella for anyone who loves a second chance romance!!

This book is a novella built into the Knight Brothers Series by Carly Phillips. This book covers Sierra’s (the only sister in the Knight family) story. This is a great addition to this series but also is a great starting point for anyone who hasn’t read this series yet.

Take the Bride is the second book in this series by Carly Phillips. It is a standalone novella and is told in the third person Dual POV. I would suggest reading this series in order, because there are things in this story that would spoil the first book (Take Me Again) in my opinion. There are things that are talked about regarding Ethan that we find out about in the first book, so it will help in understanding the characters and the family dynamic better if read in order.

In this story we follow the second chance of Sierra and Ryder. Sierra and Ryder were high school sweethearts. Until Ryder decided to break things off with Sierra, so she could chase her dreams without being held back. He thought he was doing the right thing. Now years later Sierra has moved on and is about to marry Jason….or is she?? Read this story to find out what happens when Ryder interrupts Sierra’s wedding. Will these two find their way back to each other?? Can Sierra trust Ryder with her heart again??

I look forward to reading more in this series and to see how Parker and Ethan’s stories play out.

So if you are a fan of a second chance romance, this is a story you should definitely read!!
