Noted tax expert and award-winning finance author Eva Rosenberg presents one of the first – if not the first – guides to Trump’s newly enacted tax plan, providing individual tax payers with a roadmap to making the most out of this historic tax reform. Part One will provide plain English overview of what’s new and how it will affect individual taxpayers as well as the larger goals of tax reform. Part Two will feature nearly 300 tax tips that will provide specific instructions on how to take advantage of the new tax law.
I found this book to be an extremely helpful reference guide to the new tax laws that are/will be in place. Taxes can be a very tricky thing for the average Joe. In this book, Rosenberg does a wonderful job of keeping things simple and easy to understand. The book is well organized and useful. I recommend this book to anyone who is doing their own taxes this year as well as to tax professionals who need to brush up on some of the changes that are occurring. Thank you to Netgalley, Eva Rosenberg, and Humanix Books for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This book breaks down what can still affect your 2017 taxes, as well as changes for 2018 taxes. I read via e-book a tablet using the Kindle app and some of the charts did not translate very well and zooming in didn't work well either. However, the tax information was very helpful, including links to various outside sources and I appreciated them recommending readers get professional help for more complex tax topics. The personal tax topics were easy to understand, and they did a nice job trying to explain complex business tax issues. Even if the reader gets overwhelmed just thinking about taxes I think they will find this book very helpful in at least knowing what information they need to have to complete their taxes. In saying that the book often refers to items that expired in 2016 and that may confuse readers. My understanding is that some of those items could be reinstated by congress or may become relevant in future years. I received a copy of this book through NetGalley.
As a Certified Public Accountant the Trump tax cuts have hurt middle and lower tax payers. firs compare 2017 to 2018 tax rates. it is higher in 2018.
Number two, property tax deductions are capped at $10,000. Mortgage home interest is deduction is cut for mortgages of $450,000.
Only tax professionals are qualified to educate. The top 2% received tax cuts. Middle class and lower tax payers did not. You do not need to buy this book.
Read the appendices first, and then go back and start with chapter 1.
I don't know anything about taxes, and this was very straight forward without including too much jargon. It also includes a lot of citations and points you to sources for further reading.
