Hattie Dodge was spoiled, rich, and so not interested in marrying Bartholomew Sullivan. So she did what any other self-respecting about-to-be-forced-to-be-married bride would do. She made a run for it. Which is how she wound up in Creede, Colorado.
Cooper White was honest, hard working, and couldn’t read a lick. How he wound up in Creede’s new poetry club was anyone’s guess, but there he was. He’d rather he wasn’t. But as chance would have it, (not to mention an angel or two) he was about to have his life turned upside down ...
Can an heiress on the run and an illiterate cowboy have enough in common to have a chance at love? Find out in this sweet and fun romantic romp set in the old west!
Kit Morgan, aka Geralyn Beauchamp, has been writing for fun all of her life. When writing as Geralyn Beauchamp, her books are epic, adventurous, romantic fantasy at its best. When writing as Kit Morgan they are whimsical, fun, inspirational sweet and clean stories that depict a strong sense of family and community. 'His Prairie Princess' is the first of the Prairie Brides books and the first in the series of a long line of stories about Clear Creek, Oregon. One of the wackiest little towns in the old west! Get to know the townsfolk in Clear Creek and come sit a spell!
NOTE: Hi folks, it has come to my attention there is an erotica book floating around out there written under the name Kit Morgan. IT IS NOT MY BOOK! I do not, and never will, write in that genre.
This is the 28th book in the Cowboys and Angels series. The heroine, Hattie, is a new character from Boston. The hero, Cooper, has been briefly mentioned in previous books. A neat twist is that Cooper is the son of characters from the Clear Creek series from this author. The angel has had an additional requirement that he's not to speak to the couple. It's interesting how this ties into the fact that Cooper has dyslexia. This is a nice novella full of lots of good storylines.
A rooster, a guardian angel and a rancher who can't read walk into a poetry class in Creede, Colorado. Sounds like the lead into a good joke! Actually it's Kit Morgan giving her readers another delightful read!
I have followed the Cowboys and Angels series from the beginning, and am quite cranky when I don’t get a regular infusion of this amazing series. Discovering that Kit Morgan is writing in this series is simply an added bonus on top of a great group of authors that I love. I loved and chuckled out loud when mention of a town, and characters that I know from Ms Morgan’s other series showed up here in Creede, Colorado. That was a fun, perfect touch.
Sometimes it’s easy to overlook or simply forget that things, ailments, medical conditions that we are quite familiar with were practically unknown in the past, especially in the frontier days. I’m noticing that several authors are incorporating that fact into their stories, and it’s a realistic reminder of just how far we’ve come, and how far we still need to go.
I never saw Hattie as spoiled or selfish. Yes, her upbringing was different than Cooper’s, and she certainly did need a job to survive. But soon that tutoring job became a caring for the man and her good heart did some shining through to be clearly seen. Loved seeing Bob the very special rooster once again… that heavenly creature certainly does get his point across. *grin* In all, Reading the Rancher is a lovely, sensitive, enjoyable romance that entertains and moves the series forward a bit more. I had such a good time with this story and would easily recommend not only this story but the entire series to any Western Historical Romance reader.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
Oh my Ms. Morgan has done it again. She has written a wonderful story in the Cowboys and Angels multiauthor series and this is her first in this series since she just joined a fabulous group of authors to write in this series. I loved every part of the story and Creede, CO where there are angels who are matchmakers living there. There is one crazy and quirky rooster in this town also and you can’t help but enjoy his antics. I laughed, I struggled with emotions when things got tough but wow what a ride, I went one with this story. I love that she included characters and mention of towns and what not from other series she has written as her own series. This just added to the fun and funny parts of this story and I loved it all. I won’t give any of it away than what I already said but you have got to read this story and the rest of this fun and wonderful series where you don’t know sometimes who is the angel matchmaking. Read them from the beginning to get an idea of the town and all that has taken place in it and the characters from the beginning to those added in by each author. I need to do some catching up myself so join me in this fun town in Colorado.
Cooper is a hard working rancher in Creed with a literacy problem. He can't read. Hattie is a poor little rich girl and her father has arranged for her to marry a rich man she fears as well as detests. She as decided to pose as a tutor to help her hide from those searching for her. She tells Cooper she guarantees she can teach him to read. Will she be found and taken back to her home to marry? Will she actually teach Cooper to read. Will she find romance and love, with a little heavenly help, the happily ever after she dreams of?
I always enjoy reading a story by Kit and this one was no exception! Hattie and Cooper were different as night and day, but God knew they were meant for each other, so He sent an adorable angel/messenger to make things happen. Poor Mr. Dunst was beside himself in doing the Lord’s will. And of course, we can’t forget Bob 😂
If you want some sweet moments, romance, a bit of danger, as well as some chuckles, you need to read this!
Bob the roaster, seems to have done it again. He and his angel friend that is. The groom a lonely rancher, who hides himself from the the world. He doesn't think he is worthy because of the one little problem he has. The run away bride ran. Not toward something, but away from it. Here in Creede she finds friends unlike any she has ever had. She tries to help a rancher. Only to find live along the way.
I used Kindle Unlimited to read this book. With the Cowboys and Angels series you never know what kind of angel will appear to help a person. You can read these books in any order. I love it when Bob comes to help. Who is Bob? Wait and see. This book is not only a romance but is somewhat of a comedy. Loved it.
The enjoyment of this book was doubled by the fact that it dealt with the hero having a reading disability that was a cause of shame and insecurity. It was a very compassionate story that lifts the Spirit. 💜
It's sad to think that many "problems" we see as common in today's eyes were not common back in the 1890s and people were treated as being touched in the head. Thanks Kit for bringing this into the open. It may help someone who knows somebody with this condition.
I loved this story, and I really liked how the author mentioned other characters from her other series in this one! This is an awesome series can not wait for more from Creede Colorado!
I really enjoyed this book. It was interesting with the added reading problem discussed with histories say of treating it. I also enjoy the addition of Bob the rooster.
Cute story of Hattie a runaway From her fiancée. Her father betrothed her to a terrible man. She runs to Creed Colorado. There she meets Cooper. She needs to earn money so she wants to teach him to read. Little does she know she will find love.
Ok, I LOVE Kit Morgan's writing. Add Creed, CO, angels, Bob the Rooster, and all the other wonderful inhabitants of this town, it is a perfect setting for another fun and sweet romance.
One of the best stories. Loved finding out about Cooper with his reading problem. Bob is a great rooster. Enjoyed Hattie's enthusiasm for helping Cooper.
Kit Morgan can definitely create interesting characters. I was fascinated by her inclusion of a reading disability. It made for an interesting plot twist.
Another great book in a great series. I'm really enjoying this series and the characters of Creed and Bachelor. I loved Hattie and Cooper's story and look forward to more books in the series.
Great story that included dealing with learning disabilities, which are still frustrating and mysterious to this day. I cannot fathom how difficult it was to deal with in the past.
This is the story of Cooper and Hattie. We are lucky Bob shows up again. Tobias is having poetry readings at the bookstore for the men of Creed. I cant explain why all this is important you just have to read the book, it's different and very enjoyable.
Cooper/ranch owner, unable to read and Hattie/ on the run from an unwanted betrothal. I enjoyed reading this captivating story. Love the banter between Dunst(the angel) and Bob the rooster. The story started of strong and ended the same. I Couldn't put the book down. Their story has a wonderful and complete HEA.
