I really enjoyed the stories. Having the novella in there actually confused me for a little bit, but that is more on me I think. I like Alice. I like her and Sean together. I do think she gets the crap beat out of herself a little too much, but I suppose it would change the story too much if she was not always throwing herself on landminds as they say in the book. If you like magic, shifters and vamps, you will like this. There is romance, but it is not smut.

“I never turn my back, Mr. Noble. If I can’t face it, I have no business participating in it.”
So far, I've finished the novella, Blood Money , which GR lists as the prequel and I really liked it. (✮✮✮✮☆)

“Well,” I said with a sigh, “welcome to Looking Glass Investigations. You’re the newest member of the team.”
In Heart of Malice (Book 1) we learn a lot about Alice's past and why she's keeping her powerful magic hidden. She's taken on a partner in her private investigation business, Malcolm - a ghost who's also in need of hiding. It's been five years since the events in the prequel and her current case, one which appeared to be intriguing, turns deadly. (✮✮✮✮½)

GHOSTING 101 [Note: This story takes place between Heart of Malice and Heart of Fire] is a fun short story about Malcolm helping Abe, new to ghost hood, determine how he died and explain a bit about his life as a ghost. (✮✮✮☆☆)

“I like the shadows. It's where I feel most at home.”
In Heart of Fire (Book 2), Alice is finding it a bit easier to accept help from those around her. It's still hard, especially with all she's trying to keep hidden, but she's almost died two times over while trying to solve her current case. She's learning there's nothing wrong with not only needing help, but also asking for it. (✮✮✮✮½)

“I never go back [...] The only way is forward.”
Heart of Ice (Book 3) picks up where Heart of Fire left off. Alice has taken a case to find stolen magical artifacts. Sounds easy, but it turns out to be anything but. Alice learns (admits) a lot about (to) herself in this installment. Most importantly, she's fully accepting the help of Malcolm, her ghostly sidekick and Sean, her alpha werewolf boyfriend. She's going to need it!
“Remember you are loved and you don’t have to face anything by yourself ever again.”
I am SO anxious to jump into Heart of Stone. Sooner, rather than later, Alice will have to repay a formidable foe for their help, her past will come knocking and the pack will have to accept the forward momentum of this power couple. (✮✮✮✮✮)

This was a really great box set! I love getting to know Alice and see how she saves the day! She’s a girl on the run and must keep her identity hidden. But she ends up bound to a ghost and starts finding herself in relationships she never would have had before. There is a lot of action, some romance and lots of excitement! ESP book 3 in the series. I couldn’t put it down while reading that book. This also has a book in Charles perspective which I didn’t think I’d like when I started it but found I enjoyed reading it after all.

Love it!

When you’re raised as nothing more than a lethal tool, learning to navigate in the real world is hell. Following Alice as she finds her true worth in the eyes of the people she comes to care for, is amazing!
Well done Lisa Edmonds for creating this imaginative, realistic, delightfully fun and soberingly addictive new world where werewolves, mages and vampires coexist with humans.

Great series

While there are many urban fantasy tropes in this book, the story and characters are unique enough to keep things hot and intriguing. There's a great romance, lots of big magic, complex plots and relationships, and the threat of Alice's past life meeting her happy present one. Alice takes on danger head on, with logic and lots of big powerful magic. This series is like Patricia Briggs' Mercedes Thompson & Ilona Andrews' Hidden Legacy mixed together.

Highly recommended

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and the characters are so believable, the only criticism I have is that Alice is portrayed as a really bad ass mage, and yet every few pages she was severely damaged or dead, but otherwise this book hits all the right notes

Fantastic series!

Lisa Reminds does a great job in making Alice a sympathetic yet kick butt character. Despite all that's happened to her, she is compassionate and the action is non stop. Really enjoy these books.

Powerfully written

Strong character depictions, and unexpected action throughout the whole series of books. The only thing I would do different is read the novella first.

I keep re-reading it

Such a great story with a mix of strength and vulnerability, love and duty, and magic. We all need a bit of magic, and perhaps a hot werewolf;)
