“I never turn my back, Mr. Noble. If I can’t face it, I have no business participating in it.”So far, I've finished the novella, Blood Money , which GR lists as the prequel and I really liked it. (✮✮✮✮☆)
“Well,” I said with a sigh, “welcome to Looking Glass Investigations. You’re the newest member of the team.”In Heart of Malice (Book 1) we learn a lot about Alice's past and why she's keeping her powerful magic hidden. She's taken on a partner in her private investigation business, Malcolm - a ghost who's also in need of hiding. It's been five years since the events in the prequel and her current case, one which appeared to be intriguing, turns deadly. (✮✮✮✮½)
“I like the shadows. It's where I feel most at home.”In Heart of Fire (Book 2), Alice is finding it a bit easier to accept help from those around her. It's still hard, especially with all she's trying to keep hidden, but she's almost died two times over while trying to solve her current case. She's learning there's nothing wrong with not only needing help, but also asking for it. (✮✮✮✮½)
“I never go back [...] The only way is forward.”Heart of Ice (Book 3) picks up where Heart of Fire left off. Alice has taken a case to find stolen magical artifacts. Sounds easy, but it turns out to be anything but. Alice learns (admits) a lot about (to) herself in this installment. Most importantly, she's fully accepting the help of Malcolm, her ghostly sidekick and Sean, her alpha werewolf boyfriend. She's going to need it!
“Remember you are loved and you don’t have to face anything by yourself ever again.”I am SO anxious to jump into Heart of Stone. Sooner, rather than later, Alice will have to repay a formidable foe for their help, her past will come knocking and the pack will have to accept the forward momentum of this power couple. (✮✮✮✮✮)
