Beloved in the Realms: My Demon, My Love
ML Knight
This is as a rough one to read. Easily relatable, especially in our current political climate, and our countries long history of slavery.
Azlyn is our female main character. She is a human living in the demon realm as a slave. She is a second generation slave, meaning she has never known life outside the demon realm.
Reve is our main male character. He is a prince to the royal family, third in line, and destined to become leader of the military.
Azlyn is gifted as a personal slave to Prince Reve for his birthday. I don’t want to give any spoilers away, but it’s a romance novel so you can see where this is going.
I’m going to tell you right now, I do not like Reve. He is careless and thoughtless and the rules be damned. But he’s not the one the consequences will fall on and for all his talk of protecting her, he really sucks at it. And the fact that she keeps telling him that she’s the one to pay the price and he doesn’t get it. Mind blowing.
MAJOR TRIGGER WARNING
Slavery violence. It’s a lot. It also gives the story something authentic. When they speak about being punished and how that unfolds it creates a deeper understanding of the violence these slaves go through. It also connects to our real world experience with slavery. It’s heartbreaking. It pisses me off. And what is a novel if its job is not to make us feel things. Good and bad. And I applaud ML Knight for writing a novel that makes the reader feel. There are also two scenes of attempted SA.
And just to note: the Kings name is not pronounced “cheese”.
All of that being said, I did enjoy reading this novel and plan to read the next one as well.

I liked the story line for the most part though it felt the details were a bit too shallow and not as detailed or deep as they could be, and I just couldn’t finish it. She’s so helpless, the love feels forced and the friendships need more depth too. It just needs more depth and revision, even as a quick read. I just couldn’t finish it- I got halfway.
