"Do-overs" are possible. Elle was just a normal teenager enjoying her summer vacation when everything changes. After an emergency planetwide 'reset' on her homeworld, she instead awakens on a spaceship and is told that the fate of known civilization is in her hands. A mysterious Darkness has infected the interstellar crystalline network. The unique properties of the crystals allow reality to be 'reset' to past moments in time, granting second chances. However, the Darkness isn't only threatening the reset process—it's consuming entire planets. Paired with a team of strangers, Elle embarks on an interstellar quest to protect the Hegemony by sealing the Master Archive, the backup for the crystalline network. With only vague clues to guide them, Elle and her new friends must track down ancient relics and unravel hidden secrets before their worlds and loved are lost in shadow forever. The Dark Stars trilogy offers a unique blend of sci-fi and fantasy adventure with a sleek high-tech skin on traditional magic, perfect for fans of Final Fantasy , Kingdom Hearts , and Xenosaga . Join Elle on her adventure in a universe where second chances are real. *This trilogy includes the 2018 Nebula Award finalist A Light in the Dark *
A.K. (Amy) DuBoff has always loved science fiction in all its forms, including books, movies, shows, and games. If it involves outer space, even better!
She is an award-winning and USA Today bestselling indie author specializing in space-based science fiction and fantasy. Dubbed the modern “Queen of Space Opera” by her readers, she is most known for her acclaimed Cadicle Universe. Amy’s short fiction has been published by NewCon Press, Seventh Seal Press, and in numerous indie publications.
When she's not writing, she enjoys travel, wine tasting, binge-watching TV series, and playing epic strategy board games.
When I started reading 'Crystalline Space' at first, my reaction was 'Meh, its okay'. I quickly realized, however, that I had underestimated DuBoff's writing skills!
Things took unexpected turns, and I was sucked into a fantastic Universe where Fantasy and Science Fiction blended seamlessly into a coherent and exciting story!
I was hooked.
I was unable to put the Novel down, and after I had finished it some hours later, I felt an uncontrollable desire and need to get hold of the next book.
'Crystalline Space' is in my professional opinion (I write SF exclusively) the best SFF, Science Fiction Fantasy, I have read. Mrs DuBoff has the unusual talent of writing an easily read language that has complex concepts dealt with, but without the 'look-at-me-and-my-fancy-words' plague that some Authors suffer from. She also has a good grasp of Science, with concepts like eleven dimensional space, a scientifically plausible scenario that Scientists have all but confirmed.
In fact, I haven't come across such enticing writing since I devoured Isaac Asimov's books, and that's no small feat!
Continuing from 'Crystalline Space' I started reading 'A Light in the Dark' with high expectations.
I was not disappointed.
Things continued to take surptising turns, and I events unfolded smoothly.
I was mesmerized.
I was unable to put the Novel down, as was the case with the first book, and after I had finished it some hours later, I simply had to get my paws on next book.
I was unable to put the next Novel 'Masters of Fate', down, as was the case with the first two books, and after I had finished it some hours later, bring totally surprised by the clever an unexpected resolution, I felt a sadness creeping over me, wishing the heroes and heroines could continue their fantastic adventures.
Fortunately, the ending implies more magical quests by the Dark Sentinels team!
'Crystalline Space', 'A Light in the Dark', and Master's of Fate' is in simply the best SFF, Science Fiction Fantasy, I have read. Mrs DuBoff has some unique talent. It is obvious that she loves writing. She deserves a place among Octavia E. Butler, Mary Shelley, and the Masters of Female SF and SFF Authors.
These three books that form The Dark Star Trilogy easily deserve five stars! Well done, Mrs DuBoff.
