She Reads Truth is a worldwide community of women who read God's Word together every day. Founded in 2012, She Reads Truth invites women of all ages to engage Scripture through curated daily reading plans, as well as online conversation led by a vibrant community of contributing writers. This community of “Women in the Word of God every day” represents a long list of cities and countries, a variety of backgrounds and traditions, and countless real-life stories. But there is a commonality that binds us: we believe God's Word is Truth. So we read. Every day we read a new passage together—working our way through books of the Bible, topics that matter, and seasons of the Church calendar. We engage with God's Word and with each other. And we keep coming back, on the hard days and the good days, because God and His Word never change, regardless of our circumstances.
The study of Judges has been a rough read but it also shows God's faithfulness to a people who turned their back on Him. I am so thankful for His mercy and grace!!
"The Israelites did what was evil in the Lord's sight. They worshiped the Baals and abandoned the Lord, the God of their ancestors, who had brought them out of Egypt." Judges 2:11-12a
“Mankind, He has told each of you what is good and what it is the Lord requires of you; to act justly, to love faithfulness, and to walk humbly with your God” -Micah 6:8
This was my first time reading through Judges. It was really good. Of course tragic. I feel like we have the assumption that the Bible is boring and this book completely proves that is not the case.
This was a very powerful study which seemed to point out that history often foreshadows future behavior.
Reading Judges in light of the title of the study, “The Tragedy of Forgetting God,” revealed some uncomfortable truths about myself, as well as about today’s events in the world.
It feels wrong to give this 5 stars due to tragic events of this book, yet it is part of the redeeming story. It shows us how we, still today, turn so far from God and need him as our Savior.
Overall good. I do not agree with(as those who compiled this do) that Jephthah actually physically sacrificed his daughter. So that day was a little odd reading about Jephthahs daughter and then verses against child sacrifice…
