Siren Coven #4

Immortal Flame

Rate this book
Immortal Flame, the second book in The Excalibur Duet series, AND the finale, and fourth book of The Siren Coven series.

The end is here -- and the only one who can stop it -- is lost.

I never wanted to share Gwen, not with anyone, and definitely not with Lancelot. But now that he’s gone and the truth about my past has been revealed, everything is different.

I used to be a king. I lived my life shrouded by a lie. Afraid to take the love I desperately wanted -- love from my queen as well as my knight. That fear is the reason I lost both of them. This is my second chance to be the man Gwen needs, to take up Excalibur and stop the apocalypse, and to finally accept who I truly am.

I am Arthur Pendragon, at least, I was ...

In our past I broke both Gwen and Lancelot.

But this time, I’ll be the hero they each deserve.

Just when you thought you knew the real story between Guinevere and Lancelot and king author this became along...Intense and spellbinding, this book weaves its magic with its story of witches, warlocks and many others. I loved hearing from familiar characters as well as reading this MMF book in this retelling.

Witches, Shifters, Angels and all sorts of magic was weaved in this story. Gwen, Lance, and Brooks heat up the pages! There’s lots of action and I couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen next. My only critique would be that the scene of stopping the apocalypse was so short and quick. Filled with excitement and passion, Immortal Flame will entice you from start to finish. I’m so anxious for Gabriel’s story!

I hoped with this second book I'd like this threesome more. Unfortunately, I didn't. The whining and hurt feelings were to teenage like than adults to really get me buying into the relationship. Add to that a storyline that felt like I was missing something and I was done with this book.

This is a review of The Excalibur Duet in its entirety.

Kim Loraine is a new to me author and when I first read her short story, On a Cold Winter’s Night in the Such Violent Delights Anthology, I knew I had to read more of her… so I started looking at her other books and the blurb for the Excalibur Duet caught my eye immediately because I LOVE re-tellings of Camelot and the love triangle between King Arthur, Queen Guinevere and Lancelot.

description

description

Mmmm… Charlie Hunnam. I could look at him all day long. He’s exactly who I imagined King Arthur to look like in this scenario. Although that movie was shit, I still loved watching him in it.

But I digress. Back to the book.

The author put her own little paranormal twist on this timeless classic and packed it full of angst, action, passion and forbidden love. She took a tragic tale and turned it into one with a happy ending while adding witches, angels, demons and shifters to the mix.

Gwen, Brooks and Lance (who were also Queen Guinevere, King Arthur and Lancelot in their previous lives) are reborn and thrown back into each other’s lives to stop the apocalypse. The last time they were all together, it ended in tragedy and betrayal. They were caught in a love affair and couldn’t act on their feelings for one another out of fear because of a disapproving society… but this time, they have so much more to overcome and the fate of humanity lying in their hands. When the trio is reunited again and they move past their feelings of jealousy, hurt and betrayal and they finally cave and fall into bed together...it’s fucking explosive, passionate and set fire to my kindle screen.

“I want more than both of us loving her. I want the three of us to love each other.”

I highly enjoyed this entire duet, even though in the beginning of Wicked Temptation I felt a bit lost and confused on what was going on because I didn’t realize that this duet is actually part of the Siren Coven series… but the Excalibur Duet CAN be read as a standalone. Once I got further into the first book, it became clearer what was going on and I was able to understand everything that had happened previously that led up to the point where Wicked Temptation starts. I will, however, definitely be going back to read the first two books in the Siren Coven series because I really liked all the characters that showed up in this duet and need to know their stories as well.

I loved Kim Loraine’s writing style. She flawlessly weaved her own spin on this classic tale and layered the plot with the perfect amount of angst, thrills and heat that had me thoroughly invested in these characters and consumed from beginning to end. And I'm excited that Gabriel and Ruby will be getting their own book next! Those are the characters from the short story in the anthology I read where I first found this author and I absolutely fell in love with those two. I'm anxious to see how their book will play out because the way their short story ended was tragic and things didn't look too good for them at the end of this duet.

Overall, I definitely recommend this duet for any Camelot fans out there or just any PNR fans in general because this duet has a bit of all the paranormal elements thrown into it, and this author has some awesome storytelling skills.

There’s a reason Kim Loraine is my paranormal romance queen. The myths, and fables and fairy tales and history she intertwines to create these indescribable worlds – worlds where you never know what’s happening because it’s just so unpredictable … I’m in awe every damn time. And with The Excalibur duet she combines two of my biggest weaknesses in romance: her brand of paranormal combined with a delicious and smexy and explosive ménage with characters from my absolute favorite myth … really, this bookworm couldn’t be happier.

Writing ménage a trois is a tricky thing – because for it to be something more than a dirty, filthy room between the sheets, the story and the growth of the characters has to be executed and written a certain way, otherwise it might not be believable. Because usually, three people is one too many for a functioning, healthy relationship where no one feels left out – intended or not. If the emotional bond between the characters isn’t strong enough, the romance part of the story will be lost – well, in my opinion. And knowing this was the first ménage by Ms. Loraine, she did a masterful job with this one! But not only this part was everything I hoped for and more …

…so was the magical, mystical part of the storyline. To be thrown again into the world of the Siren Coven – a world where (fallen) angels, witches and shifters exist. Where a love story not only between a witch and her king and her respective men unfolds, but between her two men – her knight and her king – as well. All this in the midst of a magical world full of good and pure evil … it’s combustible on so many levels!

I loved how Gwen did some serious soul-searching with the feeling she had that she had to choose. That what her heart and instinct wanted just wasn’t possible. She almost loses everything in the process before she realizes she hasn’t conform to what society deems normal and acceptable… It’s a long road to travel, the journey not an easy one, but the result just might be worth it…

I cannot wait for whatever paranormal read this author brings us next!

This book was everything I hoped for and more. Once again you are thrown into the Siren Covens world and this time it is 5he conclusion of Gwen’s duet. It picks up right were the first book lets off and you are transported to a magical world of good and evil. Love and lust and a romance that’s destined through the centuries. Gwen’s love for both Lance and Brookes is a struggle that she feels she has to choose. She fights her instinct and almost looses them both. Can the three of them find a mutual love for one another? Can they look past what is considered normal and go the unconventional route. Kim Loraine takes you on this journey as only I would trust her to do and once again she nailed an amazing story that had me entrenched in a world that is not what I normally read but I am so happy I followed her path.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I’m not even sure I have the words to say how absolutely awesome the Excalibur Duet is.
Gwen, Lance and Brooks’ story follows along with The Fallen Angel Trilogy and then The Siren Coven series. Stop what you’re doing and go get those books. Start reading immediately!
Now, the Excalibur Duet is obviously involves the love between two men and a woman. That’s not necessarily a genre I actively seek out but I have to tell you that Kim Loraine knows how to keep it amazing. She’ll have you rooting for this trio.
Go. Read. Fall in love.

I constantly have to bow down to my paranormal queen Kim Loraine.  Immortal Flame:  The Excalibur Duet #2 was everything I expected it to be and more.  There is love and angst surrounding this wonderful ‘family’ made up of witches, fallen angels and shifters.  This time around Kim added the love between a witch and her two men, her knight and her king.  Gwen, our witch in this trio, equally spreads her love to them both but as the pages unfold, so does the love between her knight and the king. As you can imagine with three unworldly people sharing one love, your pages will be burning up with extreme heat.  “Love isn’t something that should be defined by rules and expectations. It’s a kaleidoscope of colors and shapes, constantly changing and accepting new ways of doing the same thing, connecting people. “

How dare I forget my beautiful angel Gabriel.  That ending Kim, what are you trying to do to me?  As always, you have me spellbound waiting on your next book.

I don't think there is anything Kim could write that I wouldn't like. She definitely has a gift with words. I will be honest I didn't know how I was going to feel about the M/M/F thing. However, I am completely invested in these characters and I had to know how their love story was going to go.

I am happy that I went out of my comfort zone and read this trope. Was it uncomfortable... a little but Kim's writing surpasses my expectations every time I read her books. She was able to deliver this story flawlessly and I liked it.

These characters... I love them ALL!! I can't wait to see where the story goes with Gabriel!!

Ending to story begun in. Book one. The story of two men, and woman who loves them both. Mmf is a little awkward for me, not a genre i usually choose, but the writing is wonderful and I n terestjng twist to the legend. Adult situations, steamy storyline. Recommended adult.

Destiny, soul mates, witches, angels, oh my! This book packs a punch with the conclusion of the Excalibur Duet. And I am loving Kim Loraine's take on the story of Arthur, Guinevere, and Lancelot along with all of their special powers. This series is a must read!

This is the second book and they must be read in order.

Gwen is struggling with the loss of Lancelot and has turned to Brooks for support knowing that she has a job to do.

Yet all is not lost but will Gwen's visions come true or will they lead her down the wrong path?

This was such a great finish to the duet with lots of twists and turns that I was not expecting and some that I was.

I was expecting the little "twist" with Brook's feelings and where they were directed and therefore I wasn't surprised when they found Lancelot again. I was surprised at how the Morgan stuff had already been dealt with and I was a little disappointed in that.

I wasn't surprised at all with what came about in the bedroom and had been anticipating it. The scenes were done well and I thought it was well written.

There were a few things I was definitely shocked at including Merlin and everything with that. I was also shocked at who Brook's dad was and how everything played out with that. I was not surprised that Lancelot did what he had to even though it broke him to do it.

The end was great and I liked the way everything came together in the end!

This book was everything I was expecting and more. I loved how everything develop, all the twists and turns of events, and how everything turns out, they were things that I wasn't expecting at all and left me with a serious crisis of anxiety, and dread, some others warm my heart and left me with a huge smile on my face. I was torn between finishing it fast or making pauses to make it last longer because I didn't wanted it to end.

There was so much heated passion, love, and it was so AMAZING.

" There's heat and desperate longing behind his kiss, and this time I don't back away"

Gwen, Lance, and Brooks love  story was PERFECT, they were meant to be together from the start and I am more than happy with the HEA they got.

Kim Loraine manages to make every of her books more and more perfect and this and this wasn't the exception, it was extraordinary from beginning to end.

Now, I'll wait "patiently" (not really) for Ruby's and Gabriel's book, I need to know what's going to happen with them.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, I can officially say that MMF is not for me ... When I read a romance, I need it to be between two people exclusively (an FF or an MM or an MF, I don't care but no threesome !!) !! So the Gwen / Brooks / Lance thing ... Nope !
Nonetheless, the story was interesting and I liked the characters better here but I expected more from this book !
In short, if you like MMF YES but if you don't ... Well you're warned !
PS: on the other hand, I absolutely want the book on Gabriel and Ruby ><
This book was absolutely incredible! I loved the myth and legend of Camelot, Guinevere, Arthur and Lancelot mixed in with paranormal aspects like witches, angels, nephilim and shifters. This book was so original, it consistently kept me on my toes and wanting to know what was going to happen next. And man was this book sexy and hot at hell. The scenes between Gwen, Lance and Brooks were steamy as hell. The chemistry between the three was insane. But not just physically, emotionally as well. You could feel the love, lust and passion pass between and among them. You could feel this deep connection, some may even say fate, flow through them.
This duet was extremely original and creative. I didn’t want the duet to end, but boy did I love every word that was shared in the pages.
You can guarantee that I will be reading all of Kim Loraine’s books!
Immortal Flame picks up where the first one left off. Gwen, Brooks, and Lance must now combine forces to save their world from the Apocalypse. As they prepare for battle, a love triangle forms. Brooks aka King Arthur lost his queen once before but won't make that mistake again. He also gives into his feelings for Lance aka Lancelot. Not wanting to lose either of them, they find a way to all be together. So their love story begins while along the way they save others.
Kim Loraine has an amazing way to tell a story. She makes a fantasy world come to life. Her attention to detail in her stories has you wanting to come back for more. Although I am not typically a trio romance reader, this story was so well written I had to keep reading. Thank you Kim Loraine for bringing us your version of King Arthur. This is a series that should be on everyones TBR list.
We all know the story of Genevieve, Lancelot, and King Arthur...or do we? Kim Loraine has once again blown my PNR-loving mind with her completely spellbinding and intensely thrilling retelling.
I loved Wicked Temptation, but Immortal Flame was even better! In this book we are shown that love is so grand a queen doesn’t have to chose between her knight and her king. Throw in plenty of magic and mayhem, old angelic friends, and passion so burning hot my kindle nearly burst into flames, and you have this unputdownable book that I didn’t want to end!
Speaking of endings... OHMAHGAWD! I think Kim Loraine wants to kill me with anticipation. I’m going to be needing Gabriel’s book ASAP or I might riot! I'm only comforted knowing there will be more PNR deliciousness to come! 5 Stars.
Immortal Flame (The Excalibur Duet Book 2)
By Kim Loraine
I devoured this book. I couldn’t wait to see how this whole story played out. I will not give anything away but be ready for tears. I love how history(or fairytale) always repeats its self until you fix it. It has been a concept in many of the world’s religions. They Kim not only spins a tale that can keep you entertained and engaged, but she also builds you a world that you won’t be able to forget. I am glad for the facebook group that had me and Kim cross paths. I do intend to read more of her work. It was a rollercoaster, one that I will not forget. Thank you for writing these books.
5 out of 5 Stars from me.
Another awesome twist on the love triangle with King Arthur, Lancelot and Gueniviere! It's also the follow-up to Wickwd Flame. The paranormal aspect with witches, warlocks, demons, and angels (to name a few) makes this tale is even better.
This story has transcended time and is one story we all have heard. This one twists a love triangle filled with serious angst and really sexy scenes. Gwen, Brooks and Lance were smokin' hot and their adventure was epic.
The author spun another epic tale of love and betrayal. I was totally engrossed in this story's ending and wasn't disappointed. This is a wonderful PNR romance series worth your time.
I really don't know how I'm feeling right now after reading it. I think I'm overwhelmed or am still in shock due to the unexpected revelations! I'm also very worried about my fave character after being badly hurt by that Vienna sausage (LOL) and the sudden disappearance.. I can't help but think, imagine and speculate!
Kudos to you Kim Loraine, you always manage to surprise us even more with every book you release (probably why we love you). Looking forward to your future releases, especially those that includes my most fave character of yours.
I couldn't wait for the conclusion to this book. Who would Gwen be with Lance or Brooks. Be prepared for a wild ride. As Brooks finds out secrets about himself both him and Gwen try to desperately find Lance.
Not only is this a paranormal book filled with demons, witches, angels and the end of the world it is also filled with love and grief. As three people come to terms with their love for each other and possibly saving the world they come across plenty of roadblocks.
Great story line with characters that keep you reading.
Kim Loraine is a new paranormal author for me and I have fallen in love. She has a way to bring the paranormal world and some of my favorite myths/legends. Siren Coven is love, lust, good, and evil all wrapped into one. This is the conclusion to Gwen's story and it does a great job with that. Gwen loves both Lance and Brookes and in her debate she almost loses both. Does their love survive? Can they work together? Can they work through what is normal and what is not? Love this journey.
Lance, Gwen and Brooks must stop the apocalypse and save the world from being destroyed. Since all three have come back together again in their new lives, they must put the past behind them and forget all the hurt feelings and betrayal they suffered in their former lives. Lots of sexy, twists, turns, action, magic and love in this second book of the series. They also get their HEA's which was just an added bonus. I will be reading much more from this author in the future!!
The second of Guinevere’s books. Wow! I’ve got to say the way their story was woven is amazing. My imagination never would have stretched this far on its own. I adore Lance, Guinevere and Brooks together. The path they must travel to heal their hearts and the world is a rough one. But it’s so worth it. The read was fantastic. So creative and so very hot. Can’t wait to see what lies ahead for the next story. Pick this series up!
By the end of Wicked Temptation I had a pretty good idea of what would happen between Lancelot, Brooks and Gwen but there were definitely some surprises thrown in by Kim Loraine. There was so much happening that their story got divided up into 2 books, and while the end of the world kept looming as the big problem, it was kind of anticlimactic when the showdown actually happened. Don’t get me wrong, there was a major twist there but I was expecting a huge battle and the entire thing ended in the blink of an eye. I thought this series would be over after this but I am curious if it will continue on now that they have a 4th sister witch that I can’t wait to find more out about!
What an ending in this series. Just when you think you have everything figured out you are hit with another twist. And I loved it. This duet was everything I wanted in a Guinevere story. I was captivated from the very beginning. The first book in this duet had me enthralled but the second, I was spellbound. It was brilliant.
I loved how Shane East gave both Brooks and Lance a different and unique voice. It was always clear who was who. Kylie Stewart was great as Gwen.
