Books to teach kids how to read. Israel really enjoyed these because he knew they were short and he could learn to read them quickly. They made him feel proficient!

Scholastic Inc. has published some beginning readers called "My First BOB Books." They start very simply with cute illustrations. At the beginning of each book is a phonic page so parent and child know the sounds used in each book. The simple pictures help the child know the sound. The books are graded for difficulty and can be found in most libraries. They are also small paperbacks for small hands. Because they are short and simple, a child can achieve great confidence in being able to read one book in no time.
