"I like the chill and rhythm of that wall I found it very comforting, the soft graduated shadow-lines cast by the glow of a streetlight near our house, the silver greys against the darker greys, all against the mist and darkness...."

Sketches, line drawing, prints are combined with Christopher Pratt's thoughts and circumstances surrounding his paintings and lithographs. The level of detail and precision that goes into his work is evident and the sketches and preparatory notes are fascinating. Not as evocative are his portraits and nudes, and I note that the comments about them are equally at-arms-length.

Highly recommended for anyone interested in Christopher Pratt's work or the process of an artist whose passion lies in precision and balance.

It is personal and it is revealing...Christopher Pratt the man...as seen in his canvases. Excellent.

An incredibly beautiful book. It includes over 200 colour plates and black and white reproductions of Pratt’s paintings, screen prints, drawings, sketches and studies from both private and public collections. These works are quiet and introspective, with a measured, exact and controlled use of perspective which is daunting. His genius is not just in his painting but in his writing as well. Notes, essays, and excerpts from his diaries accompany his work. An excellent book.
