"This book of poetry is about stumbling through heartbreak and learning to change and grow from it in the end. It's about holding on and embracing the pain, allowing yourself to feel it entirely, cup it in your hands and stare at it until you start to understand it." - Faraway
'Sad Birds Still Sing 2' is anonymous Author Faraway's followup book of modern poetry to their debut release, 'Sad Birds Still Sing'. It is a headfirst dive into the world of heartbreak and the trials of getting over loss and the impact it has on the human spirit, mind, and heart. It is for anyone who has ever had their heart broken in this life. It is for those who've lost hope and those who have once lost hope. It is both a tragic ending and a gorgeous beginning, the darkness of the tunnel and the light at the very end of it.
Taking inspiration from modern day poets, Faraway mostly writes in short form poetry, making 'Sad Birds Still Sing 2' a quick read of sorts for those in need of some inspiration and motivation to live their life to the fullest.
Writing and designing this book meant a lot to me. I took it very personal.
In this poetry collection, I decided early on that I wanted to say exactly what I felt like saying, without worry of criticism and the reviews. It's basically a physical representation of how I've been feeling inside, from the saddest parts to the most hopeful. Unlike my last book, 'Letting Things Go', where I focused a lot on long-form poetry, I took a different approach and stuck more to the style I'm known for, short-form poetry. It was so much fun trying to smash big ideas into little sentences. That last book was more about writing poetry and showing my readers that I can do more than just short-form. This one was entirely just what I wanted to do, what came out of me naturally.
I'm proud of the way this one turned out. Between writing, formatting, designing, editing, and marketing the book (while maintaining my presence on Instagram @farawaypoetry and fielding traditional publishers' publishing offers), it took 13 months for this book to finally be released. I decided to self-publish this one in the end, as I think that's what is the best decision as of now. And now, as of November 6th, it's officially out in the world.
I think I liked the first one better than this one. I didn't relate to it because I've never been broken up/gone through what he did. but it wasn't a bad poetry book I did like some snippets here n there. I do have other poetry books I've read that pass this one. 3 stars because I didn't relate much.
Sad Birds Still Sings 2 is about heartbreak, pain, moving on and more. You'll definitely relate to at least one of these poems and even love the ones you don't identify with too. Gotta say I like the first one a little more but this one is just as good!
Here's one of my favorites from this book:
"I’m not a canvas for others to paint on anymore; no, now, today, I hold the paintbrush in my own hands: I’m writing my own story, and I’ve never felt so free."
Faraway amazes by saying so much in just a few lines!
"And it's unreal, so unreal, that no matter how much time passes, I still can't stop thinking about you - years later"
"I fixed your heartache just to have you walk out and fall for someone else with your newfound beating heart. - repairing people"
"I know it's wrong, and I shouldn't still be feeling like this at all, but I wish you were here every time you're away - things would be better"
"I'm hurting, I'm hurting so badly, and the world, it just keeps spinning, and so is my head, and I just can't seem to find some kind of pause, a button I could push that would just let me slow things down long enough for me to put both of my feet back on stable ground. - whirling forever"
"I've been in pain lately. I've been feeling ripped open atom by atom, feeling every little tear into my chest. Life has been digging into me for quite a while now, and I'm not quite sure how much more of this I can take. - give me peace tonight"
"A quiet mind in a loud world is a necessity; nothing is more valuable than being at peace. - quiet afternoons"
"Don't get too good at pretending you're happy: no one can help you if they don't know you're fighting for your life. - break the silence"
"I don't care much for smooth words; I care more about surviving tough times together, and coming out on the other side of them softer because they happened - growing together"
"I'll never take for granted the nights you hold my head up, when the dreams inside of it are far too heavy for me to carry on my own anymore. I put myself down sometimes, but you lift me up twice as high every time. Literally, every single time, without failure, you are that one thing that keeps me from giving up completely. I should thank you for loving me so well, but I know my greatest thanks will come in the form of doing the same for you. And because of this, because of your love and its gentle touch, I can't help but think that the right one will always believe in you, especially when you can't believe in yourself"
This book is amazing in many ways, it helps you deal with so many diffrent emotions, from heartbreak, loss, tragedies, love, happiness, and learning to move on. Having been through so much of the listed emotions, I can relate to this book on a very personal level, it seems that many of these poems, I can relate too, and have thought in the same way as them. This book deserves a lot of recognition, heck, it deserves an award. Credit to the writer, you did amazing in pouring out you heart in way of poetry.
I'm a long time follower of this author on Instagram and I remember a time when I absolutely adored their poetry on there. I guess... this particular book just didn't do it for me :/ Still love some of their work though.
What I love most is that their work is available on their website on a sliding scale price... so check that out as well ♡
Inspirational for sure. Faraway has a way with words and really hits home throughout the chapters. You could seriously use this book daily and reflect on the poem and how it makes you feel daily. Great job
4.5 ⭐ I love the second installment of the Sad Birds Still Sing but the first one just has a special place in my heart, it's hard to beat the first volume.
I really enjoyed both sad birds still sing 1 and 2. Some real life changers in these pages. Shelf material now for days I'll need to visit these pages again.
