The Far Hills Junior High war of the sexes is about to begin Spring has sprung, but Madison has the seventh-grade superblues. She's behind on her homework, each of her parents has started dating again, and she forgets to have her mom sign the permission slip for the science-class field trip. Her feelings for her crush, Hart, get even more confusing when their science teacher divides the class into two teams for the trip--boys vs. girls--with a competition at the end. Now Madison is teamed up with the girls--including her nemesis, Poison Ivy--against her BFF Egg and, worst of all, Hart! But sometimes, even enemies have to come together to take first place.

As I continue to reread this series, each of these books brings me back to different events and memories from my childhood. For this specific novel, it reminded me of the memories that I have involving different field trips that I went on. Along with that, there was such a division and almost competitive nature of 'boys versus girls'. In my case, it wasn't anything more than kids being kids but it's funny to look back on.
Another thing about this novel that I didn't personally relate to but find that it would be helpful for children and teens going through similar situations is the discussion of divorce and separation. Although each circumstance is different, Madison experiences some of the difficult results of divorce (sharing holidays, different schedules, etc) and I know if it had been me, I would have liked to read of a character going through similar experiences.
This book was so fun!! It perfectly captured young teenagehood/middle school life, Madison was busy all the time, she has petty drama, crushes, those naive innocent worries about life and the future that, from the perspective of a junior-high aged girl, feel the most substantial thing in the world. I wanna give Madison Finn a fat hug right now😪😪
I liked that Madison and Ivy joined forces in the name of girl power! But I feel like Maddie crossed over to the dark (poison) side which made me sad :(
