The new Naomi Blake mystery - A teenage boy is found drowned in a canal, just hours after telling his mother that he killed a man. There seems to have been no link between them, and the boy was a model student, never in trouble with anyone. Naomis friend Patrick knew him, and when he turns to Naomi for help, it becomes clear that the case has complex, tragic roots in the past.
Rob comes home covered in blood, telling his mom Clara that he killed someone. Then he vanishes, until he turns up dead. Clara was a single mom, and unbeknownst to her Rob had been trying to find out who his father was. Disturbing secrets and a manipulative teen seem to hold the solution. A well-written mystery, but unfortunately not much about Naomi and her service dog Napoleon.
This was another good British crime mystery where a teenager drowns after confessing he's killed a man.
There were some twists and turns in this story that created more mystery. I liked the main characters but not necessarily the rest, though all suited the plot.
Well-written and fast-paced, it was engaging from the start.
I wish I had been able to find the earlier books in this series—I don’t like starting in mid-stream. There were some details of the back story that I wanted to know more about. That said, however, it does work OK as a stand-alone. A sad story, though.
