I think he fell in love with someone he'll never get over and it broke his heart
this volume screams gay and so much more. Like I love all of them so much. Still if someone's gonna ask about my ranking here it is :-
Haruki > Uenoyama > Kaji > Sato
Nothing against Sato it's just I love all of them so much it's just tough honestly.
Forgot to tell in last review but this panel is still one of my fav :-
Haruki telling Akihiko that he started growing his hair since he met him is nothing more than a love confession for me.
The confession and they are dating is like ahhhh screams cute.
Can't wait to start reading vol 4.

I think I might like the anime better than the manga just because the anime adds so much more (like actually being able to hear their music), but I'm glad to be able to see where they started. I like how the anime still adds the little side "joke" panels at the end of some of the chapters and volumes and kind of weaves them into the main story. They also rearrange some of the parts and I think it makes it flow better. I really love these boys and I hope the anime gets at least a second season and the manga continues for another couple of volumes.

Absolutely hate that they changed Kedama/Tama's name in the official english translation. They could've just put a translation note instead of renaming him Furball/Furby. It's ugly! This volume felt more like a filler. It's the cool off after the concert and the build up to Akihiko and Haru's story. The beginning though! Ugh Mafuyama is so fucking good. I LOVE THEM.
Now that I've had time to sit on this series I love the manga and anime equally. They both offer different things, but they're mostly the same. The anime has music and the manga has little notes and small scenes that didn't make the anime, but it's okay. I love the way the anime does the story and I love that there are things you can only experience by being a manga reader. I'm happy to be rereading this and there's only one more hour till the movie airs... I'm FREAKING OUT.

Not my favorite volume of the series, but it has a lot of good moments. Like the it's mutual, sick Mafuyu, and "you'll never learn, Akihiko" are all fucking amazing scenes. But overall it just really feels like the filler in between of Ritsuka and Mafuyu's story and the whole mess that is Akihiko, Haru, and Ugetsu. The Akigetsu toxicity begins.

This volume is truly the cool off after the concert and a little light heartedness before we dive into more pain. I'm bumping up my rating purely based on my love for this series lol. My rewatch and reread is going amazing. Only 3 more days until I see Given in theaters!!

Creo por el momento que este es el tomo más flojo de los que he leído. El argumento me entretuvo pero no me enganchó como los dos primeros. Igual tenía las expectativas muy altas.

Even though there were a few cute moments between Mafuyu and Uenoyama, nothing of great significance takes place within this volume. We do begin to see the shift of focus away from their relationship to the toxic shit show that is Akihiko and Ugetsu. Though it doesn't seem possible, their story, as it was portrayed in the movie, tore me up even more than Mafuyu's story. I was outright sobbing by the time Mafuyu finished his song at the end of it, and I am curious to see if I will be as affected by the manga.
Since nothing really happens I'm not sure what I'm rating, but I'm gonna go with 4 stars because that's what feels right.😜🤭 Now, on to the drama!

En este volumen vemos cómo Uenoyama reflexiona y vive en un gay panic constante desde que besó a Mafuyu en el concierto, a su vez, vemos como Haruki intenta lidiar con sus sentimientos por Akihiko y considera seguir adelante.
En este tomo se ve un punto de quiebre en la trama que va a dar un giro distinto y donde las cosas se van a tornar más serias para los siguientes tomos.
Siento que este tomo es un volumen puente entre dos arcos de la historia, nos da un cierre a la incertidumbre de Uenoyama y Mafuyu oficializando su relación y da paso al drama amoroso de Akihiko/Ugetsu/Haruki así como a los problemas de pareja que van a tener en el futuro Mafuyu y Uenoyama (celos, problemas de comunicación porque los dos son muy malos para eso, malentendidos, etc.)

This volume also has a colour illustration at the beginning. Milky Way Edition keeps being very good, and the translation keeps being fantastic too.

¡Por fin sabemos el porqué del nombre que da título al manga! Me encanta la pareja que hacen Uenoyama y Mafuyu pero también me alegro de que la historia no solo se centre en ellos. Presiento (y espero que así sea) que los próximos tomos se van a enfocar más en los personajes de Haruki y Akihiko. De hecho, ya vemos un lado un tanto “oscuro” de Akihiko que no me termina de gustar pero que creo que es bastante realista y que pega con el personaje. Nadie es perfecto, ni todo sale bien desde el principio (pero a ver por dónde sale la autora). Este tomo me ha gustado un poco menos quizá que los anteriores, pero solo por ver las reacciones de Uenoyama ya merece la pena. Presiento que el nivel de drama irá in crescendo en los siguientes tomos.

This volume felt like filler but I really adore the series so far! The bonus panels at the end of each chapter are not only funny but make the characters feel more real, seeing the random events happening in their lives.
The way humor and the emotional and deep moments are interwoven with each other makes this series so compelling to read.

Finally got back to this series after a few months (thanks, adhd). It's nice to be back in the Given universe! Haruki is still my favourite character, and he deserves the best. I did like that Akihiko took Mafuyu under his wing, that was cute.

Re-Read: I loved how we got to see more of Haruki’s backstory in this volume. I’m so excited to read volume 4 just to get more of my favourite fictional band!

I absolutely love this series and its anime adaptation. Absolutely no words to describe it. I love how Riksuka Uenoyama's feelings towards Mafuyu Sato were explored further in this volume and how we got heaps more backstory on Akihiko and his past relationships. I'm super invested in his and Haruki's storyline and want to see how that goes. I just hope Aki realises Haruki's giant crush on him so that the two of them can be happy together.

5 stars ｡･:*˚:✧｡ I love these characters so much it is ridiculous. This is the most adorable manga seeing the slow burn between these two boys is just amazing. I love Mafuyu and learning more about his sad back story and I love seeing these characters relationship grow. I already knew what was going to happen because I watched the anime, but the manga just adds a bit more depth.

I wish I was articulate enough to convey just how perfect this series is. The characters are layered (yes like an onion) and the story and love interests are deep and complex. Some moments are so emotional and sad and some are so FUCKING FUNNY. Yeah it's BL, but it's also just one of the best mangas I have ever read. I'm excited for Hiragi and Shizu to have their moment. WHY because I LOVE a cool quiet top and a bratty crybaby bottom. 👏 Uenoyama is baby tho 💗

Todos estos puntos están de alguna forma influenciados por conocimientos y opiniones que ya tenía sobre la historia gracias a la adaptación del anime.
ASPECTOS POSITIVOS
- Uenoyama está rápidamente convirtiéndose en mi personaje preferido (HE´S MY GAY SON. Como siempre sus gay panics son lo mejor del manga). Kizu trasmite muy bien, en un conjunto muy acertado de ternura con humor, esa inexperiencia de Uenoyama en el amor/relaciones (y como eso se contrasta con Mafuyu). La incertidumbre con la que ambos tratan de abordar sus sentimientos se siente en cada interacción. Tanto Uenoyama como Mafuyu se sienten reales. Su relación se siente real.
- El desarrollo paralelo de la relación entre Haruki y Akihiko. Personajes secundarios, pero de los que Kizu no se olvida en ningún momento (el final ya juega con entrar de fondo en su historia). Le dan un aire más maduro a la trama, al mismo tiempo que están en sintonía con los temas que la autora viene abordando
- Me sigue fascinando la capacidad de Kizu de trasmitir tantas emociones con un dibujo simple. Te hace enamorar aún más de sus personajes y sus diferentes relaciones.

- Por fin tuvimos un poco más de presencia de personajes secundarios. Le dan más vida y realismo a la historia. No se centra solo en los cuatro integrantes de la banda.

- La forma en la que la autora maneja el paso del tiempo resulta un poco confusa.

El tomo 3 de Given le da un gran final al arco que se venía construyendo en los volúmenes anteriores y da comienzo a una nueva etapa para los protagonistas. Todo esto sin dejar de lado el drama emocional, el humor ya característico y la música.
