Amid the white-washed houses that decorate the beautiful island of Santorini, Greece, lies an ancient secret that will pull Laura and Roman fathoms deep into an atrocity obscured by mythology, and buried by aristocracy...
Laura is half-werewolf and half-siren, made 'siren' accidentally by the human male who saved her life five years ago with his breath of life - his siren breath.
Roman Dalton is human, and the only known male to carry the siren gene. Although he cannot fully form into his aquatic counterpart, he suffers the torturous effects of his compromised DNA every full moon when the tides are high - effects which have been steadily growing worse.
Posing as man and wife, and battling their own villainous shadows from a past best left drowned, the reluctant couple find themselves in Santorini, about to embark on a deadly mission to uncover more about the elusive siren in the hopes of finding a cure. For Roman was never meant to carry the siren gene, and certainly never meant to pass it on to a she-wolf.
Their answers might dwell among the vegetation of the monastic Mount Athos...
But there are people - very important people - who would rather some secrets remain hidden forever.
If Laura and Roman make it to Mount Athos, they may never make it back out.
This book is related to Blood Shadow (Blood Never Lies, 1), and to the Eye of the Storm series, both by the same author.
Dianna Hardy is an international bestselling author of (cross-genre) fantasy fiction, most notable for her dark (often explicit) paranormal fantasy and the raw, intense Eye of the Storm series. But her heart-warming Once Times Thrice series proves she thrives in the light as much as the dark.
Whatever your poison, what she loves most is to bring you stories that are action-packed, fast-paced and not short of heat, with the focus on character development, relationship dynamics, and the plot.
She writes full-length novels and short fiction.
First published in 1997 with poetry, and then in 1999 with her first short story; The Witching Pen was released in 2011 and she hasn't looked back.
Dianna lives in Hampshire, UK, with her partner and their daughter, where she writes full time.
From 2025, Dianna revived her old pen name, and is also writing as Elysa Summers.
Fathoms Deep captured my attention from the beginning and held on until the end, with no dull moments in between. I was pulled deep into Laura’s world the moment it began for me, first in Blood Shadow and now in Fathoms Deep.
Fathoms Deep has so many twists that I never knew what to expect next, even though I tried to figure it out many times. I love the Blood Never Lies series, where I first met Laura, or the person she was known as then.
I have sorely enjoyed getting to know more about Laura’s world, who she is, and who she has become. Fathoms Deep is a very interesting and riveting story that kept the pages turning.
Page after page, I kept trying my best to figure out more of Laura’s story, but with each turn of the page, I found that I was wrong, which made the story even more mesmerizing.
While reading Fathoms Deep, I kept having memories of Lydia from the Eye of the Storm series, and her story, and I kept expecting Laura's to be very similar, but boy, was I wrong again, as their stories are both so unique in many different ways.
I loved getting to know Laura and Roman and their stories. Fathoms Deep is told from more than one point of view. It is told from Laura’s and Roman’s points of view, of course, and from the points of view of the people who were hunting Laura.
Awe, now why are they hunting Laura? What do they want with her? So many questions that can only be answered by reading Fathoms Deep, of course. Grab a copy today to find out.
Fathoms Deep has blown me away. This story has everything. Werewolves, Sirens, lore, romance, action, mystery and a few more elements I don’t want to spoil. It is packed full and just captivated me.
We met Laura back in The Eye of the Storm series when she was Selena. I loathed Selena. She was absolutely awful and if she had ended, I would not have been upset. Then we meet up with her again in Blood Shadow where she goes by Jennifer. Jennifer is so much more likable. I actually liked and really enjoyed her new journey. Now however she goes by Laura, and Laura is absolutely amazing, I cared about what she was going through. Which isn’t all that pleasant at this time. Around every corner she is being thrown into another disaster. Thankfully she has Roman by her side.
Roman is a guy you can fall in love with. Trust me, I did! This is as much his story as it is Laura’s and we learn so much more about him here. More about where he came from and how he grew up. Where his mind and heart are at today and 5 years ago. Why he made the decisions he did when it comes to Laura.
The way everything unfolds and comes together is absolute perfection. There are definitely a few scenes I was just completely surprised by, of course in the best way. I should have seen some of it coming because like I said it all comes together but I was so pulled into the story I wasn’t thinking too far ahead and was just devouring it as it happened. That ending though. It’s one of those where you just have to sit, stare at a wall and take a moment because it is that good and you need to reflect. Each page was giving me flutters in my stomach, I was so excited and feeling everything.
Dianna outdid herself, the way she writes is like no other. She weaves lore throughout the story and it takes it to a higher level. It is so interesting and I have so much fun reading it. I am definitely excited to see where she takes us next.
The Blood Shadow series continues with Fathoms Deep, and my addiction to this world endures! I don’t believe in “guilty pleasures”. I just really like these books 🤷🏼♀️ The relationships are believable, the world building is fascinating, and I could quite believe that there are werewolves and sirens walking around out there!
Laura is on the run from people who want her stopped because she is perceived as dangerous. Roman is helping her and posing was her husband after he rescued her in the last novel and accidentally turned her into a siren.
Santorini isn’t such a bad place to be stuck in, but Laura’s ex, a branch of the British Secret Services and Roman’s family are all after her. In trying to find a cure for their Siren-side, Roman and Laura make themselves easy targets for someone from Roman’s past.
This is exciting, rather steamy and has a fantastical element that kept me gripped. And the ending - what can I say without giving anything away??!! Well, let’s just say that I’ve not been quite so excited over the END of a book in quite a while!
Dianna Hardy just keeps getting better and better!
I received a copy of this from the author to read, and my opinions are, as ever, my own and unbiased.
