I love Lori Foster and am a huge fan of her Men of Honor series but never picked up her Visitation series. I'm glad that I did because I enjoyed this one. Bruce Kelly was a big cuddly sweetheart and Cyn was a snarky prickly heroine but also funny and likable. These two together were perfect.
I was expecting a lighthearted read but I got a bit more than that. Bruce is a small town preacher with a heart of gold and Cyn is a recently retired prostitute looking to get a fresh start. On the surface these two are vastly different but inside, where it counts, they make sense of each other. Cyn's past was heartbreaking and just like Bruce, every time she let slip things from her childhood and the life altering decisions she had to make to survive, I hurt for her. She was a strong character that second guessed herself a lot but lucky for her, Bruce is a wealth of patience and understanding and he always knew just what to say to shake off her cynical out look on life and showed Cyn it was time to leave the past behind and look to the future.
The curve ball in the plot took me completely by surprise, which was cool but the villain turned out to be even more of a creep than I had first assumed. Ugh! That turned dark and twisty real fast! Which I guess is also a good thing? The few POVs we got from the stalker gave me the creeps, big time. I'm just happy he got what he deserved in the end and that Cyn was finally able to finally shed that last piece of her past and move on.
I'm not sure how a feel about the mysterious Jaime. At times I found him intriguing but at others he just came off as awkwardly weird. A strange bird, that one . . .
Memorable Moment:
I loved when Bruce offers comfort but Cyn is too stubborn to admit she needs it and he finds a way to give her what they both need. He was seriously the most adorable of guys :)
Would I recommend?
This series has it's own comedic feel to it and I know it's not my favorite by LF but still a good read.

This is my second book from the Visitation, North Carolina series and I'm hooked! I love all these characters in this small town. My love for a book/series grows when there are great side characters that add to the story and you get that in this series. They can also all be read as standalone if you aren't one for series.
While the first book was highly entertaining and funny, this third book was more serious with heavy subjects. It was still very entertaining and had a lot of funny moments, but the main story is dealing with Cyn's child abuse and the threat of her past coming after her. This may have too sensitive subjects for some readers.
I have not read book two yet but the couple is in this book and they have me so intrigued by their relationship that I will be reading book two next. And Jamie Creed! I think anyone who has read any of these books would be enthralled by Jamie Creed. What an unusual but very appealing side character. Well done to the author for such a great series! I really liked this book. I am a sucker for the minister/bad girl with a heart of gold storyline. I have seen several bad reviews of this book because Lori wrote Bruce as a Man...not just a minister. Personally, that is what I thought was refreshing about it. I liked that he wasn't perfect...he didn't always have "pure" thoughts, and wasn't ashamed of his attraction for Cyn. He is still a hero I would stand behind anyday, and I enjoyed the trust and love that developed between he and Cyn. It was a fast-enjoyable read and will have a place on my keeper shelf.

I have read this entire series with the exception of Jamie and I have to say this is by far the most disturbing. I love Bryan's story but Bruce just came across as a creepy and slightly abusive jerk. Cyn feels self concious because of her breasts, so of course Bruce spends most his time focusing on them. She's a child prostitute who has never felt love so why don't we rush her into a marriage. And when Brucgets mad over something she says why shouldn't shake her up a bit to get his point across. That's sooo much better than what she endored from her family....not. Also am I the only person who found their age difference a little unsettling? I would much preferred Bruce being with women in her late 20s to early 30s considering he is 35, but jeez Louise Cyn is only 22 and according the story never even experienced life

Loved the charters, small town, witty banter and emotional thrills of this fun romantic journey where opposites attract and white hot sparks fly..... highly enjoyable reading.

Reprint from 2004...doesn't sound like much has changed to update it. Every one still has landlines.
Think of the worst match-up ever, and this one is right near the top. A preacher together with a former prostitute. Cynthia is starting over, and Bruce is there to help her with that. He along with this brother and friends help her with someone who is trying to hurt her. There was too much blah to go along with the drama, sex and romance. Jaime Creed is still creepy, but a little less so in this book.

I dreaded reading this book when I first found out that it was part of a series because I haven't tead the other books yet. I've learned that this has been published by a different publishing hoise begore and is just going yo be re-released.
I'm not sure about the difference but even if I'm missing some infos about the other characters and happenings, I can say that I enjoyed reading this.
The book is actually hilarious at time and the other characters are worth checking out for.
This is basically about a preacher, Bruce, who just relocated in Visitation, North Carolina to set up a church when he met Cyn, or Cynthia who's running away from something. From there, their connection is quite undeniable but Bruce held off for Cyn's sake.
The character combination is quite daunting although not really unbelievable. This just proves us that "all is fair in love and war" or "love conquers all" is something you have to really want and you must fight for to achieve.
A romance that you'll either love or hate, this book has been a different one for me. And in a good way. It's actually a first time that I've encountered a goody two shoe hero in the aspect where he's a preacher and is actually a clean romance compared to others.
Now as I've said, I don't know the difference between the now and then content of this book, but from what I've read, I liked and enjoyed. And I think if you've read the other books from this series, then you'll more likely to enjoy this as much.

Small town romance big city problems. When Bruce Met Cyn is a sweet good guy/bad girl romance that I really enjoyed. Cyn has had it rough and is ready for a new start she puts a pin in the map and chooses Visitation, North Carolina. She meets Bruce on her way to Visitation when he saves her from being roughed up by the trucker she’d hitched a ride from. Bruce has to convince Cyn to leave the past in the past and to give him a shot at her future. I liked that Bruce was a good guy but not perfect. This is a total feel good story I highly recommend. Though part of a series it can be read standalone.

This is a reissue of a Lori Foster classic. This forbidden romance story is timeless and just as entertaining as it was the first time around. Visitation NC is a wonderful small town and a great place to start over for Cyn Potter. She's had a hard life and she's done what she needed to do to survive. Now she's putting that life behind her and plans on keeping up the walls she's built to prevent getting hurt again. Then she meets Bruce Kelly. His kindness and goodness soon has all those walls threatening to crumble.
I highly recommend this tone.

I love Lori Foster´s books, and was really happy to receive this ARC.
It was a good book. Bruce and Cyn certainly were opposites, but they fit together like rice and beans (sorry, brazilian reference here, hahaha). Also they had so much chemistry, they let me hot and bothered.
It was beautiful how he kept his distance just to make sure she didn´t felt overwhelmed by it.

When Bruce Met Cyn is a cute romance, with a lot of complications, between two unlikely characters. The small-town feel of Visitation was well done, and I loved that Cyn was adopted as the town's own so quickly.

I first read this book in 2009 and again I recently read it as I received a copy from netgalley. I’m 20p9 I gave the book 4 stars and as of this year I would give it the same rating.
I really enjoy the way that Lori Foster. Rates her characters. In this case they are compelling and have a wonderful backstory that has been fleshed out. Bruce is a minister, which would normally turn me off as I’m. It a religious person, but in this book it doesn’t come out as holier than thou. He’s just like any other male character in a romance novel, just a good guy who is looking to be helpful. Cyn was one of those women I just was rooting for. She had a hard life and I wanted more for her. I loved the two of them together and even though they were opposites, they definitely hit it off well.

Part of the Visitation series, which I just found out about and I now have to go and read the whole thing. Bruce is such a wonderful character, a genuine sweetheart that any female reader would fall in love with. Cyn (Cynthia) has had such a difficult life, drunken mother and a rather nasty boyfriend character that has rather nasty intentions towards Cyn. She runs out after beating him to death when he appears in her room one night and takes to life on the streets. She never finished school and can't find work and the only option she has is to sell herself. She feels a strange pull to the small town of Visitation, and when she makes enough money she quits her "job" and heads out to begin a new life for herself. This small town is where she meets some wonderfully genuine people and falls for Cyn. And of course there is always the part of the storyline where her past is going to catch up with her, but she doesn't have to deal with it on her own.

I liked this book, but the hero wasn't one of my favorite characters. I guess since Bruce was a preacher I was expecting him to have more skeletons in his closet to make the story more interesting. Instead, he was the standard gentleman who was straitlaced and had not much of a shady past all. The only thing that distinguished him as a hero was that he was protective, sexy, and he falls in love. The heroine was much more colorful. She was a former prostitute running from the past. She shows her strength and determination throughout the book. She is a woman to be admired for her courage and tenacity. This was a great story because what are the odds of a preacher and a prostitute falling in love? It is forbidden, so it makes the story even more appealing. I just wished the hero would have had some former "sins" of his own. Or maybe I just like reading about bad boys!

I’m not sure why but I expected better for Bruce’s story.
I also found the ending and who the baddie was just too silly and lacking explanation.
Bruce we met in previous books. He is a 35 year old preacher with a heart of gold.
The fact he ends up with a 22 year old, ex child prostitute, just threw me and I just couldn’t shake the problems of age difference and her past.
Did I feel sorry for Cynthia, absolutely, did I blame her for the choices she was forced to make, absolutely not.
I just felt like Ms Foster felt this was a funny and ironic choice to pair Bruce with an ex prostitute.
Now before anyone says their piece, there is 14 years between my husband and I, we have 26 years together but we met at more mature ages than these two.
I’m not sure why but I expected better for Bruce’s story.

This book was just ok. I've read some of her other works and they are definitely better. This one didn't really flow correctly. I wanted her to go into more detail about their relationship and how Cyn felt about her past. She didn't really go into how Bruce felt about Cyn's past and how he is planning on working through it. I just felt let down by this book. It didn't explore the rest of the town's ideas or further their relationships either. Just wish Ms. Foster would have taken more time with it and really got into the story. Could have had more details and cut out some of the fluff. She should have had an editor on this one.

Contemporary romance with protected sex.
This is Bruce's story. Bruce is a likeable guy. He deserves a good story. He doesn't get one IMO. Cyn is a recent former hooker. I tried not to hold that against her, but she's not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
This story plays out like a really bad Lifetime Channel movie. Before you judge, I'm a nurse who works in a hospital. I frequently get stuck in a pt's room when Lifetime movie marathons are playing. I've seen enough to know how bad they can get! Not a good addition to the series.

I absolutely love Lori Foster. I am glad that we got to see a different side of Bruce and that both Bryan and Joe were present in this book. Cyn was a fun character and I really liked how she was able to reach out to Jamie. Cannot wait for the next book in this series.

I thoroughly enjoyed this slightly-dark romance. I definitely want to pick up the other books that have the characters in this book - especially the one about Bryan!

She's used to men wanting only one thing, and this girl is no longer taking applications from big bad wolves in sheep's clothing, thank you very much, drive through please and keep on going. But Bruce Kelly is actually different. Totally hands off. Sometimes she can see a hint of fire when he looks at her, but the guy treats her with the respect she's always wanted. Maybe too much respect, because truthfully? The guy is fine. Worth taking down a few defenses for. . .and a few other things. And maybe somebody needs to help Bruce start over and discover just how perfect being imperfect can be
This was such a quick easy read for me and I did enjoy the book, but for some reason the characters just didn't seem to fit together for me. Cyn annoyed me throughout the book and I am sure it was how her character was meant to be but I just didn't feel like her and Bruce went well together. I think if the book was longer and it was a slow pace romance it would of been more believable for me. Bruce also drove me a little crazy his alpha male side was a little over the top at times and it just didn't seem to go well.
With saying this I still rated this book 3.5 stars and I still want to read the first 2 books in this series (which I didn't know it was a series until I started it). Like I said it was a quick read and I did like the book and got into it, I loved the side characters a lot and loved how caring of one another they were and the humour that they shared with one another.

Bryan's twin brother Bruce is on his way to Visitation, where he's moved to set up his new church. But he encounters a tough, young woman who seems to be running away from something, or simply toward a new life in Visitation - she's Cyn, a former prostitute with an abusive childhood who managed to keep her head above water during a five years of turning tricks and now has enough money saved up to get out of the life. And she runs straight in to Bruce's. He's enamored with Cyn straight off, but he does what he can to keep his hands off her and to give her a chance at the independence and peace she craves. But Cyn doesn't want Bruce to keep his distance. For once she's intrigued with a guy she's going to have sex with and doesn't want Bruce's nobility to get in the way of that. But when Cyn's past comes calling and danger is near, Bruce's nobility may be what she needs for protection. If only she could have his heart as well.
Other than Cyn being occasionally annoying and the one bit of potential relationship angst between Bruce and Cyn being resolved so quickly it might as well not have existed at all, this story was perfectly adequate. I say adequate because, I didn't dislike it and I didn't love it. But I also was able to put the book down throughout the week and go to bed without finishing it and I so rarely can do that with a story that sucks me in. I didn't really feel like I cared about either Cyn or Bruce. In fact, Jamie stole the show in this one. The author built the mystery and intrigue around Jamie, the local hermit, so much that I didn't want to read anything about Cyn or Bruce...couldn't have cared less. But after that last scene with Jamie, I immediately rushed through Book 4, so I could read about him. So, an okay story, but just something to get through until I got to Jamie's book.

When Bruce Met Cyn is a classic and was originally released in 2004 – now we’re getting a new cover and a Mass Market Paperback Reissue. I happen to love covers and the chance to re-visualize Bruce (and Bryan, since they’re twins) from this new cover is a delight.
Once again I was captivated by the characters in and the town of Visitation, North Carolina. Cyn is a streetwise, snarky, sassy woman who has made the choice and now has enough money to step away from a life that was necessary at the time. She’s had dreams of a town, of a man and impulsively waves a finger over a map and makes her decision of where to head for her new life. Right into Visitation and perhaps a date with destiny.
I really liked Bruce and Cyn together, on the surface they may seem complete opposites but they match up where it counts. We’ll get the chance to catch up with other couples in the Visitation, North Carolina series and see some future possibilities as well. I had fun with When Bruce Met Cyn, there’s an opposites attract feel, definitely steamy moments, a solid romance, true danger and a touch of mystical warnings at times.
If you’re in the mood for a really good, satisfying romance then I’d recommend you check out the reissue of When Bruce Met Cyn. You’ll find a story that will keep your attention riveted on the page, likable characters, a vile villain, a few twists and turns and an emotional love story. If you haven’t already, this story will make you want to check out the entire series of Visitation, North Carolina for yourself… I’d highly recommend that you do just that.
