This is a novella with 3 full stories. I really liked the first story. Both characters were quirky and the whole story pulled me in. The other 2 stories were similar in some ways. It kept me interested but I just had a hard time believing that women their age are that naive when it came to phyiscal interactions such as putting ones tongue in ones ear. Her: "You put your tongue in my ear!" Him: "Yes" Her: That was..nice. I hadn't realized.." Really? Really? I can buy inexperienced never gone all the way but not to this extent. This is why I gave it a 3.

I got through the first story, and just couldn't muster any interest to read the other two. The story was okay, but nothing exceptional - characters were trite and not very interesting, it wasn't very sexy, just blah all around. Definitely not Foster's best work - go check out her SBC series for really good romance writing and interesting characters.

“As long as I know you’re coming back, I’ll be happy.”
“As long as I know you’re here waiting for me, I’ll be coming back.”
- Messing Around With Max

Lori Foster’s books have always been my “Guilty Pleasure reads”. She’s the only foreign contemporary romance author I really read because I always enjoy her works. (But i do read other authors once in a while) And I enjoyed this collection so much I decided to finally write a review of Miss Foster’s book once and for all. Just to show how much I adore her works.
This collection is about the Sawyers siblings. Daniel, a doctor; Annie, a bookstore owner; and Max, a middle-child, wanderer and lover extraordinaire. All of their stories are quick-paced, sexy and funny as hell. Actually, almost all of Lori Foster’s stories are whirlwind romances. All begins with physical attraction until it turns into love. You will never get bored with her works especially if you are like me who always like seeing the Hero and Heroine together. All three of these stories begin with the Hero and Heroine already encountering each other.
Also the reason why I prefer her books from other authors is because her Heroes and Heroines are lovable. Her heroes, no matter how macho they are, always have a soft spot. Family for one. And the woman they love. And sometimes, dogs (just like Max).
Her books, being romance, are formulaic. All romance stories are like that. So when it comes to romance stories, I rely more on the characterization of the characters rather than on the plot per se. I know it is just my preference, but I like it that the heroes of these stories are weak against their partners. I also like it that although the heroines act strong and aggressive, they are still adorable. I don’t feel any hint of pretentiousness from the characters. The characters are alive. It’s like, if they are real people, I will definitely want to be friends with them. And of course, if Daniel, Guy and Max are real people, I will certainly do what Lace, Annie and Maddie did – I will seduce them (One of them, actually. I will go for Max, since we have so many things in common).
I particularly loved Annie, Get Your Guy because I really laughed so hard the whole time I was reading it. But among the three guys, Max is my favorite (Obviously, given my side comments above). Lover Extraordinaire, huh? But he’s so weak when it comes to his dog! A guy who loves his pet has always been my weakness.
And again, I will repeat myself. This book is very funny.

Guy kissed her throat. “I like that.” He kissed her collarbone. “And that.” He opened his mouth against her skin. “And that!”
He sighed. “Annie, I don’t need a blow-by-blow report.”
- Annie Get Your Guy

Now you know why I rated this so high. :)

The first story was charming. The characters were well rounded, there was a solid backstory, and chemistry between the characters. It actually felt like a complete novel rather than a novella. This was the best story in the series.

The next story felt incredibly incomplete and extremely short. It was also eye-rolling ridiculous. The innocence level of Annie at twenty-five is just unbelievable. It is almost as unbelievable as Guy’s reasons for not pursuing a relationship with the heroine. This story just ends without any closure.

The last story is Max’s story. While he’s the most likeable character, this story is every bit as unbelievable as the previous one. There are some funny moments, but those are all from the old prostitutes with hearts of gold. While it didn’t end as abruptly as Annie’s story, this story felt so short. It seemed shorter than a novella.

These three related stories about a set of siblings would have been better as one book, then the characters could have been developed more.
Little Miss Innocent? With Dan, the oldest brother, and Lace, the sister's friend and a sex therapist, was the best of the three. However it was only average. Lace is super annoying with her "I'm a bombshell" act when she actually has no personal experience about sex and even her relationship advice is only average.
The next stories, Annie, Get Your Guy, about the sister and a family friend was just awful. The sister is supposed to be 25 but she acts about 16, and the friend who is a bit older seems to have no common sense or clue.
Messing Around with Max, is about the other brother who is a apparently a brooding man-ho and his ditzy girlfriend. No thanks.

Three short connected stories bound as one. The older brother, the youngest sister, and finally the middle brother. All three were completely unbelievable and not as fleshed out as they should have been. However, they were all fun and short with a fair smattering of sex. I'd go 2.5 but I'll round up this time.

LITTLE MISS INNOCENT?

For Dr. Daniel Sawyer, sex therapist Lace McGee was a puzzle. While she kept putting all sorts of inappropriate ideas into his sister's head, Lace was even better at putting all kinds of naughty thoughts into Daniel's head. But just how down 'n dirty is Lace really?

Fun book. Daniel is the oldest of the family and the one who feels responsible for his younger brother and sister. He took over as a parent figure when his mother died and his father fell apart. It made him reluctant to fall in love because he didn't want to fall apart like that if something happened. He is a respected doctor and known for being very serious. A couple years earlier his sister became friends with Lace, a well known sex therapist and radio show personality. He doesn't approve of the changes he has seen in his sister since then and blames it all on Lace. Every time they are together he can't help but make his disapproval obvious. But he also can't get her out of his mind. When she ends up in his emergency room, he takes it upon himself to look after her for the next few days during her recovery, and suddenly things get way hotter between them.

Lace is very good at what she does and enjoys helping people get in touch with their feelings. She doesn't know why, but she really enjoys pushing Daniel's buttons when it comes to anything sex related. When he takes it upon himself to care for her after she's hurt, all that time together has her hormones going wild, She wants him to lighten up and give in to the heat that's between them. But she's got a secret that's going to blow Daniel's preconceived ideas to smithereens when he finds out what it is. Lace doesn't believe in love because she's seen her mother chasing that emotion all her life.

I loved the banter between Lace and Daniel as the two of them enjoy poking at each other. The attraction between them is obvious to Daniel's family, even though it takes awhile for Daniel and Lace to admit it. Once they give in things get even more interesting as they have to overcome their own issues before they can be happy together. I loved Daniel's commitment to his family, even though he was a bit overprotective. Lace's need for Daniel's respect for her job was a big part of the issues between them. I enjoyed the ending and look forward to seeing how their relationship progresses in his siblings' stories.

ANNIE, GET YOUR GUY

No one likes being treated like a kid sister -- especially by a guy who could curl a girl's hair faster than hot rollers in an electric socket. So when Annie Sawyer sets out to seduce Guy Donovan once and for all, she tracks down every book about sex she can find.... One of them has to work, right?

Another fun book. Annie is tired of waiting around for Guy to realize that she's not his sister. She has been in love with him forever it seems. So she's taking advantage of her sister-in-law's expertise and has decided that there's nothing left to do but seduce Guy to get her point across. I loved seeing Annie with her piles of books and magazines, all full of advice. It was even better to see the effect those things had on her brother Daniel and on Guy. Neither of them were too happy to think of her as being old enough to have "needs".

Guy has been all too aware of Annie for the last several years, but feels that it would be inappropriate for him to enter a relationship with her. He's got all kinds of issues, mainly stemming from feeling like he doesn't deserve her. He's getting desperate enough that he's actually considering marrying someone else just to make it impossible for him to be with her. Even his best friend Daniel tells him that the woman is all wrong for him.

When Guy is in a car accident on his way home from her house one evening, Daniel talks Annie into basically kidnapping Guy and taking him away. This would give Guy an opportunity to do as the others ask and really think about what he's doing. Annie is willing, because it would give her the chance to have him all to herself and try to have her way with him. The scenes in the hospital and right after they get to the cabin are hilarious, as Guy on pain meds is quite something to see. Once he starts coming off them, he is really confused about what is going on, and his resistance to Annie is very low. She gets her wish, but then Guy sticks his foot in his mouth and screws things up. I loved seeing Daniel 'splain things to him when he finally starts to realize what he really wants. The ending was great.

MESSING AROUND WITH MAX

Maddie Montgomery has decided that things have gotten critical. She needs a couple of notches on her bedpost -- fast! And rumor has it that Max Sawyer is just the man to show her the goods... and then some. Now, if she can just get past his dog....

This was hilarious. Max is the middle of the three Sawyers kids, and the one with the reputation of a playboy. But he's gotten tired of that lifestyle and is looking for something different. There is also more to Max than anyone realizes. His whole family thinks that he's somewhat lazy because he doesn't have a real job. All they see is the way he's constantly traveling and has avoided getting involved in the family business. Nobody knows that he anonymously writes an advice column, like his sister-in-law Lace, only for men, and he wants to keep it that way. He also recently adopted a dog - an overweight, ugly, emotional dog named Cleo. The dog's needs have him thinking about looking for a wife that would be willing to help him with the dog.

Maddie is a friend of Annie's who is looking for a man who will help her with her own needs. She broke up with her fiance after she found him cheating on her in a rather unique way. Now she wants some experience that will help her stop feeling like she's boring and Max seems like he'd be perfect for the job. So she shows up one day while he's working at Annie's bookstore, intent on seducing him into helping her. She can't believe he's not interested in a no strings encounter and does her best to convince him. But it isn't her seduction techniques that change his mind, it's the immediate connection she makes with his dog.

Pretty soon they've connected on a physical level, but Max really wants all of her forever. He just has to convince her. Maddie had made a big thing of only wanting him for some temporary sex, so feels she has no right to change the game. But she has fallen for him in a big way.

This was three books in one, so I'm going to review each book individually

Little Miss Innocent? - 3* this was just okay for me. I did not really like Daniel or Lace and had a hard time getting invested in their story. The characters were perfectly fine, but it was just meh. I started this story and then put it down for a long time because I just was not invested. They were too antagonistic and even when they did finally get together it was still very quarrelsome.

Annie, Get Your Guy - 4* I really enjoyed this one. It was filled with humor from the very beginning and that pulled me in. Not to mention that we had already been introduced to Annie and Guy in the previous book. I did not like that Annie lied to Guy while he was still coming out from under the influence of the pain medication. Aside from that, this book as heartfelt, funny, and really pulled you in. This was the best of the three.

Messing Around With Max - 3* like the first book this was just okay. Cleo the dog was the best part. Max having an advice column was a surprise, but otherwise this was just meh. It was nice that we finally saw dad come back to himself, it started a little with Guy, but seeing him interact with Max was good; it should have been Daniel, but it was good. Maddie was most interesting when she was with the older women. This book was not as strong as the one featuring Annie and Guy.

Quite Good/Okay/Somewhere In Between

I'll be the first to admit that I'm a sucker for a fun romance, and Lori Foster's written several that I've very much enjoyed. In Tempted: Little Miss Innocent?\Annie, Get Your Guy\Messing Around With Max, we get three connected novellas of varying length as two brothers and a sister stumble through the murky and dangerous quagmire of love and relationships.

In Little Miss Innocent we meet Dr. Daniel Sawyers, the eldest of the Sawyers siblings. His mother died when his brother and sister were just young kids and his father's grief at her loss robbed the children of both their parents. No matter that Daniel himself was far from an adult, he stepped into the parental role. He took care of them, became the father figure, and that responsibility at such a young age changed him. It made him very rigid. Very responsible. Very staid and respectable. Everything that Lace McGee, sex therapist, isn't, and Daniel positively loathes that about her. The fact that he can't catch his breath and his pulse pounds whenever she's around, and he has hot dreams that feature her in exquisite detail doesn't mean she's right for him, though...does it? 4 Stars.

Annie, Get Your Guy brings us the story of the baby of the family and the Sawyers siblings' only girl. Annie has been desperately in love with family friend Guy Donovan for years, but he's just as bad as her brothers when it comes to being overprotective, and despite all her best efforts, he hasn't seemed to notice that Annie's now an adult. In fact, she's a sexy, sensual woman out to seduce the only man she's ever wanted. Guy's convinced that any moves on Annie would be a heinous breach of the Sawyers family's trust...but how can he forget just how fantastic she is? Can Annie convince Guy that loving her is the only thing right for both of them? 3 Stars.

As the middle child and confirmed Lothario, Max Sawyers has been around the world and more than knows his way around the female mind and body. You could say it's been a life study for him. Known as the family reprobate, Max is in the process of turning his life around. He's got new responsibilities and a damaged dog that desperately needs some love. In Messing Around With Max, though, Maddie Montgomery slams - quite literally - into the bookstore Max is watching for his sister and storms Max's heart and soul with little more than a wet tee shirt, torn pants, and affection for his irascible dog. Only problem is, Maddie's not interested in a relationship, just a notch on her bedpost. How can Max, the reformed rake, convince Maddie, the determined sexpot, that together forever is what they both deserve? 3.5 Stars.

These are three charming contemporary romances from one of the paramount romance authors, and each story is light, fun, and easy to read. I felt Dan and Lace's story, Little Miss Innocent? was the most thorough, providing the strongest plot with the most character definition and most attention to conflict and resolution. All three stories had a healthy dose of humor with one or two serious issues threaded throughout, like the abandonment of their father and the very real sense of responsibility these siblings have for each other.

Annie, Get Your Guy was the shortest of the three stories, and also suffered from the least amount of character definition and plot. It tread the line between short story and novella in complexity, but in truth, there was also a bit of Annie and Guy's character and relationship development in Little Miss Innocent, so at least some of that could be forgiven. This particular story, though, focused too much on the sexual chemistry and not enough on the emotional and mental connection, I think. It seemed quite a bit more superficial a relationship than Dan and Lace's in parts.

Messing Around With Max was just a whole lot of lighthearted, silly fun. I didn't take it too seriously, and as a reader, if you don't either, you'll enjoy it just fine. It was very light on substance and plot development, though it tried with the addition of some of Maddie's friends who have a checkered past and with the conclusion to the arc of the Sawyers siblings father issues. The idea of Maddie trying to rebuild her self esteem by throwing herself at Max to get some hands on Sex Ed experience following a humiliating break up seemed less than noble, but Maddie was a sweetheart that quickly fell for Max's soft side and Max was endearing, so I forgave the cotton candy coating on the story and just appreciated it for what it was.

Individually these stories were fun to read, together Tempted: Little Miss Innocent?\Annie, Get Your Guy\Messing Around With Max is a nice compilation and worth the time and money if you're like me, and every once in a while just love a healthy dose of brain candy.

Little Miss Innocent: 2.5 star
Annie Get Your Guy: 2 stars
Messing around with Max: 2 stars

I found these a little boring. Also, I get the awkward sibling conversations, how they didn't want to talk about each other's sex life BUT it seemed like in each novella the men questioned ALL the women's motives. It was over the top in, why are you trying to learn about seduction and how to be good at sex??? really? In theory it was a cute idea but the execution was odd.

It had been a while since I read any of Lori Foster's books. This one was a print book from my TBR basket. I enjoyed this three books in one anthology. They could probably stand alone but having all three sibling's stories in order is definitely the way to go.
Now to find the other Foster books in my electronic TBR stash!

I thought these 3 novellas were steamy and enjoyable to read. It was a little unbelievable to me that 2 of the 3 women would be virgins at 26 but whatever it didn’t detract from the stories enough to make me stop reading. This was the first time I read anything by this author and I’m interested in reading more of what she has written.

This is really three short novellas in one book. The first books is about Daniel and Lace. The second about Annie and Guy. The third about Max and Maddie.

Daniel is a doctor, very rigid but loving. He had to take over responsibility for caring for his family as a teenager when his mother died because his father fell apart. He was very protective of his younger sister Annie. In comes Lace, Annie's best friend who is a sex therapist who is pushing Annie to get out of her shell. Things get interesting when Lace gets bitten by a dog in her behind and Doctor Dan comes to the rescue and maybe falls in love for a girl he does not even respect.

Annie is a tomboy trying to be sexy. She is in love with her brother's best friend Guy who thinks she is still the little girl he helped raised. Annie does everything in her power to seduce Guy but nothing works. She solicits help from her new sister-in-law Lace aka sex therapist to learn how to become a seductress. When Guy has an accident she volunteers to take care of him and of course work her femine wilds on him. She was going to do anything to get to her man even take advantage of him.

Max, a playboy and the middle child, changed when he became the father of an abused dog. Working at his sister's store while she plans her wedding to long time love Guy, Maddie walks into his life. Maddie immediately falls for his funny looking bad behaving dog who only grows at people. Annie is Maddie's friend and she told Maddie about her brother Max and his player ways. Maddie, after being hurt by her ex, wants to get out and find herself sexually and she thinks Max is the perfect companion with whom she could share her experiences. The sex is explosive but so are the feelings between the two characters as they spend more time together.

I borrowed this book from the library as an ebook. The stories are not really believable but they have an HEA.

Despite my tendency to hate short stories, I found this collection pretty interesting. Maybe it had something to do with all the stories being interconnected, or that fact that Lori Foster is a damn good author. Either way, I am not complaining.
Out of the three short stories, I liked Max's story the most.

Contemporary romance with protected sex for all 3 stories. This is 3 novellas from 3 different anthologies. The first book is copyrighted 1999. The other 2 from 2001. These are different from what LF writes nowadays. The heroes are beta. They don't have to "save" the heroines from danger. They are straight up romances. They revolve around 2 brothers & their sister.

Little Miss Innocent : 3 stars. Liked the hero, Daniel, even though he was an "uptight stuffed shirt". The heroine, Lace is a virgin sex therapist (eye roll). Though she played like she knew all there was to know about sex, she'd never had it before. Daniel sets out to teach her a few things.

Annie Get Your Guy - 1 star. Disliked the heroine, Annie (the sister to Daniel). Guy was a block of wood - he was too stupid. I really hate the "I've loved him for over 10 years & he doesn't know I'm even alive (sob)". Girl move on!
I wish real life could be a LF romance. Her virgins not only don't bleed the first time, they orgasm at least twice!

Messing Around With Max - 3 stars. This one was OK. The heroine was a ditz. Described as "shy", she's anything but. Actually, she's downright odd. She's also a dog whisperer, so Max (the second brother) has to marry her to keep his vicious dog happy. HUH?

Doutor Em Sedução - Lori Foster
Título original: Little Miss Innocent?
Título: Doutor Em Sedução
Autor: Lori Foster
Tradução: Vera Vasconcellos
Editora: Harlequin
Ano: 2012

Conflitos!!!
