Chinmayananda Saraswati, also known as Swami Chinmayananda and born Balakrishnan Menon, was an Indian spiritual leader and teacher who inspired the formation of Chinmaya Mission in 1953 to spread the message of Vedanta. The organization, which was founded by his disciples and led by him, has over 300 centres in India and internationally. He was a disciple of Sivananda Saraswati at Rishikesh, who founded the Divine Life Society. He was later advised by Sivananda to study under Tapovan Maharaj in Uttarkashi in the Himalayas.
The Chapter begins with Arjuna asking questions about who God is, and what work is, among other things. Lord Krishna answers that God is akshara - imperishable. And everything around us is the creative impulse of cosmic consciousness, called Brahman ('God'). The rest of the chapter is an elaboration of this concept. Krishna also says that we become whatever we think of, at the time of our death. Since we do not know when we will die, indeed death can come at any time, hence, Krishna extols us to meditate on the Supreme so that we may reach the Supreme. Towards the end, I was a little unsure, especially of the path of light and the past of darkness.
