But a new mission brings him face-to-face with a different kind of monster, one with a weapon that can alter the course of history. Failure is not an option, but as the mission goes from dangerous to deadly, Dex finds himself up against a far more terrifying force, and this time, there’s no escape.

⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱*Good To See Them Again*⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱

The review after reading:
In this new spin-off series we're back with Dexter ‘Dex’ Justice Daley (42?) and his husband, Sloane Brodie (45?) who met eight years ago. They’ve been out in the field as TIN agents for three years now, but this new mission might be the hardest one yet.

I really liked seeing the guys again, it was great seeing how in love they still are, how much faith they have in each other. This book was actually pretty fast forward and not too heavily informed and I liked that. That said, I did feel like Sloane is being left behind somewhat. He's still there, but Dex is overshadowing him by far.

Who knows, anyway, I still enjoyed this book. It was lovely being back in that world. I did however miss the old team being by Dex and Sloane's side, and I wish we had more Tony and his kids time.. Oh and I wonder how many books Charlie Cochet is planing for this series?...

Quick basic facts:
Genre: - (Adult) Paranormal Romance (M/M)
Series: - Series (Recommend Reading Thirds First), Book One.
Love triangle? -
Cheating? -
HEA? -
Favorite character? - Sloane Brodie, I think.
Would I read more by this author/or of series? - Sure.
Would I recommend this book/series? - Yes.
Will I read this again in the future? - Probably.
Rating - 3.5/3 stars.

Review before reading:
I always want more Dex & Sloane! One cannot get enough.

The Easiest Awarded 5 Stars!!

I’m not going to lie. It’s been a very long four years since we last saw Dex and Sloane, and who knew if my love would stand the test of time? Who knew if the intense action, the life and death situations, the seriously swoony romance and smexy smex, and the ridiculous humor would ALL still prevail? I was legit worried that maybe, just maybe, I had made it all up in my head, that I had unrealistically put THIRDS on a pedestal, that Cochet could no longer bring it because… well… for me… nothing has.

If you’ve felt the same dear reader, let me reassure you. Rest. Easy.

Cochet brought her A game and gave us everything and then some. My heart was in my throat, I laughed out loud, I shed a tear or two or three.

There’s no point in rehashing the plot. If you love Dex and Sloane, now you’ll love them even more. I sure do.

This book just further solidified what I’ve been saying these last few years. For me, there’s just something special about this series and simply put, none of Cochet’s other works compare in capturing the chemistry and magic that is this Therian/Human universe, and I wholeheartedly stand by that statement.

Sorry not sorry.

I’m just ecstatic these crazy wackacheesydoodles are back, and the 2nd book is on its way!

Fucking finally. Amen.

New series, same lovable THIRDS characters. Honestly, it felt SO DAMN GOOD to be back in Cochet’s Therian universe.

There’s no need for me to get into story specifics, just know that everything THIRDS fans have come to love and expect was delivered in full here, and then some.

The stakes reached heights previously unseen and the plot has become more substantial, more complex, maybe even a little darker, all while still maintaining that THIRDS-esque edge-of-your-seat action and suspense, those strong made-family vibes, that laugh-out-loud humour, and all those deliciously steamy and swoon-worthy moments between long-time fave couple, Dex and Sloane.

As far as I’m concerned, it’s an imperative to read the THIRDS series in full before venturing into this spin-off series. This may be a whole new series title, but this world, its characters, and their professional and romantic histories are the same, just expanding.

This story will have readers laughing, crying, and, unsurprisingly, desperate for more to come. And, yes, there is more to come!

I, for one, am ecstatic to be back on this journey with Dex and Sloane, and all their wonderful friends and family.

BRING IT ON!

**Trigger warnings for those who have hard limits: this book includes themes of kidnapping, trafficking, assault and rape.

What a ride… and what a badass kickoff to this spin-off series.

We continue following former THIRDS agents Dex & Sloane in their new roles as TIN operatives. It’s been four years since they joined the Therian Intelligence Network (Therian equivalent to the Human CIA) and now we accompany them on a mission that will test them in every way possible. And hell, what the everloving fuck is going on!!

Let. Me. Out.

I can’t wait for the next books to release! This story is mostly about the mission but there are also some glimpses into the bunch of characters as we know and love them already. ♡

side note for the audio: okay okay I admit it, Gary Furlong did a fine job narrating this, esp. with the accents, BUT imo he was not able to convey the drama-lama that is Dexter J. Daley quite as fun as Mark Westfield did for the previous books/audios.

*************
TIN series (part of the THIRDS universe):

Book 1 - Gone But Not Forgotten - 4.5 stars
Book 1.5 - Cold Light of Day - 4.5 stars (novella)
Book 2 - Go Down in Flames - release expected 2023
Book 3 - Speak of the Devil - release expected 2023

*** Charlie Cochet says you can but I wouldn’t recommend starting this series without having read the THIRDS series first.

This had everything I loved about the THIRDS books and more, but it is different. This is darker than previous books (not that THIRDS didn't have its moments) and perhaps a plot point warning is necessary. There is also furtherance of the story that began in the THIRDS books with Dex's evolution and I absolutely loved it and can't wait to see how it goes.

Sloane and Dex are undercover with help from their new team and their old teammates. They are such a solid couple and they are tested with this assignment. The baddie is so very bad and what's going on could have devastating effects, especially for Therians.

I was definitely anxious throughout the story and there were some bits that were hard to read, but I loved seeing this new challenge that Sloane and Dex have taken on with TIN. So much is changing here and I think some readers may have a tough time with it, but I really enjoyed the new team, the new challenge and am looking forward to whatever comes next!

I had missed Dex and Sloane.
I love this couple. They were:

1. ridiculous
2. sweet
3. sexy
4. possessive
5. adventurous

And so much more. and all the other therians!!

This book isn't without angst but it fits the story and wasn't overwhelming.
I really liked tis book and can't wait for the rest!

PS: Gary Furlong narrating Dex and Sloane? AMAZING!!!
There is a reason why he's one of my faves!

Oooh that was a headrush and a half!

I absolutely love the THIRDS and associated series spin-offs and it was blooming brilliant to be back with Dex and Sloane for their first major adventure since moving to TIN.

And OMG what a headrush it was, can it be April already for book two please?!

Evil people are doing evil things and Dex and Sloane have to put aside all their love for each other and go undercover.

I have to say, I had zero clue just how this was going to go but I never thought it would be as big of a gut punch.

It's fast paced, the sexy times are still on fire, their love is as powerful, but there's also something dark brewing inside of Dex and it took me by surprise.

Having already read the freebie which comes next before starting this one, as I'd forgotten they were connected, I already knew how some of it would go down.

But that never stopped me from having my heart in my mouth so many times.

It really was great to stop back in this universe and I can't wait for more.

Wow. Wow wow wow! Gary Furlong narrating this new series was the greatest news I’ve ever heard!

This was a whirlwind adventure and I can’t wait to see where this series will go!

You will need to read the THIRDS series so you know the characters and their personalities and what they hint at for their previous experience. I didn’t love all this books but these characters hold a special place in my heart!

Overall I wish the original THIRDS series was narrated by Gary Furlong, but so happy this one is! Now I can’t wait for book two!!

Sooo I am super upset. I’m not putting a spoiler tag so stop reading if you don’t want any spoilers.

Seriously. Stop reading. I’m about to unleash all of my freaking out feelings.

All of them

Still here? Ok.

At its core, THIRDS is action packed and romantic and sometimes hard to read but with a serious lighthearted backbone.

This is not THIRDS which is FINE. It really is. I love darker romances. I would have loved a darker Dex and Sloane who don’t cross some line that I didn’t know I had and never dreamed they would cross.

You know what I don’t love? Not being told that this is going to be dark. Not being given TW/CW that are adequate. Now I know everyone has different feelings on TW/CW but this one boiled down to “sexual assault, kidnapping, and trafficking” No where in that TW/CW does it say that Dex and Sloane will be front and center for that.

They’re undercover. Fine. They have to have sex in front of other people. Uh. Okay? Fine, I guess? They’re having sex in front of other Therians who are being raped. That’s right. It’s rape disguised as an orgy. Dex and Sloane, of the sex is off the table if we join TIN, are mentally and physically able to have oral sex and then anal sex…while something like 30 Therians are being raped - and they can hear it - all around them. And then they go and eat some bacon. Yummy yummy insert jokes. No probs.

Oh and there’s a bit of talk about how the Therians wlll be vulnerable after a shift (duh) so that’s the best time for the “orgy”. So. No worries tho because bacon Amiright

I am…stunned. Disappointed. And frankly I am hurt because this bothered me on a level that I didn’t know I would feel.

I re-read the THIRDS novels focused on Dex and Sloane in anticipation of Gone But Not Forgotten, the first (and hopefully not only) installment of the THIRDS spin-off series. THIRDS is not perfect; no series is. But years after my original read, I still found it mostly entertaining, amusing, and thrilling. I loved how Dex was the sunshine to the series' grumps, but I especially loved the balance between Dex and Sloane.

Gone But Not Forgotten possesses many qualities that I enjoyed about the THIRDS novels. Following the Jaguar Therian and his partner-turned mate-turned husband in their new-ish career as intelligence agents, the story featured plenty of fun, humor and heat between Sloane and Dex. And, of course, full of action.

Also present were some challenges associated with continuing an established series. Dex and Sloane must work largely separate from their TIN colleagues. I adored the supporting characters in the THIRDS universe, even if I didn't always love their respective novels (*cough*Hudson*cough*Seb deserved better*cough*He still deserves better*cough*). As such, I missed the team presence and camaraderie. The new TIN colleagues show promise, but we didn't have as much time or depth from them.

The plot is dark: power-hungry, bigoted humans are kidnapping and abusing Therians, plotting to steal their DNA and create Therian/human hybrids. Dex grapples with the disturbing mission, as well as his own secret hybrid status. Consequently, the sunshine aspect of Dex's personality was often diminished. I'm definitely not adverse to darker subject matter - and despite how it sounds, this story wasn't even THAT dark - but I missed the Dex of old. Sloane unfortunately also had less of a voice, and since I prefer him as the more tortured Alpha, the dynamic change unsettled me. Perhaps it can be rectified revisited in the next book?

Speaking of which! My biggest complaint is that I can't find any news about future books in the series. Overall, my qualms were easily outweighed by the sheer enjoyment and nostalgia of re-immersing myself in the THIRDS world. I was so happy to return to these characters, and I hope to do so again.

Coming back to Dex and Sloane is like snuggling into a comforting, warm blanket. I didn't know just how much I missed these two until I started reading them again.

Like in real life, in the story it's been 4 years since we last checked in with Dex and Sloane. For a year they did TIN training, and for the last three have been in the field together, kicking ass and taking names.

And they are still deliriously happy and in love. That is evident throughout this book. They've known each other and been together 8 years, and their love has not dwindled. If anything, it's grown even more.

Butttt to make things interesting and dramatic, there's still people to save, story to tell.

This felt fairly dark, overall, but when these two and their family at the THIRDS were in the thick of it, it was always fairly dark.

But in this, Dex and Sloane face their most challenging assignment yet as TIN agents. There is a man, Vaughan, that is evil and is trying to use Therians to come up with a serum or something like that that can change humans into human-therian hybrids. He also kidnapped a cheetah therian that looks a lot like Cael, and that's the push Dex needs to say yes to this assignment - Sloane was already on board because he wants to do something to put a stop to it.

When they get to Vaughan's little "retreat" under different identities of course, they soon find out that it's all worse than they could have imagined.

But they have to play the part in order to get the intel that they need, and to save the cheetah therian - well, it soon turns out, more therians than just one need to be saved.

Of course everything can't go according to plan, and shit goes belly up. Dex's half Human-half Therian nature also seems to get an upgrade in this, and it is fairly scary and unknown. At one point he lets this therian half or whatever it is kind of...take over, and it's like Dex himself has no control over it.

That has left me anxious and worried, but I'm hoping like with everything else Dex and Sloane have come across, that they can find out a way to balance this unknown and scary new development. It certainly throws in some angst and tension, for sure.

But even then, I never felt their love for each other waver, which I loved. Sloane will always be there for Dex, even when Dex is terrified and had doubtful thoughts. They'll make it through together, like they always do....it's probably just gonna be a bit of a journey before they get through it. I can't wait to read it. Although...not too much angst, I hope, I don't want my two boys too hurt or broken, please 🙏

I love these two so much, and when even Dex gets subdued and isn't the happy go-lucky goofball he almost always is, it's worrying. But I'm so interested to see where Ms. Cochet takes them on this new journey they're going through.

I was just so happy to read these two again. The steam was a little light, but mainly because their case didn't really allow for sex all that much. But what we had was wonderful. Although they do have to have sex once on their mission, and the whole situation was uncomfortable and fucked up, but they did what they had to do. Thankfully they got away with only having to have sex with each other.

Overall, what a great start to this new spin-off series of THIRDS. We kicked it off with a bang - literally ;). I can't wait for more. (Also I wonder if there will be other couples too at one point. Would love for Wolf to finally find someone for him....)

Anywho, definite 5 star read for me. The plot was intriguing and wild and crazy, with Dex and Sloane at the center of it, their love a wonderful shining beacon that never wavered. Man, I just love their love ❤️

** 3.75 stars **

I am glad that Dex and Sloane are back. I must say that the first 30% of the book were reminiscent of the author's recent writing style of too much snark and humor (constant comic relief that I just can't take seriously) that just doesn't work for me, so for a moment I considered DNF. But since I have waited for this book for so long, I decided to continue. I am glad I did.

The rest of the book took on a serious note and told a rather grim and harsh tale of betrayal, crime and evil. The subjects were tackled well in connection with THIRDS world and Dex and Sloane as part of TIN. There was plenty of action, steam and angst. I loved that all the major side characters made an appearance in the last chapters. With the passage of time all of them changed and it was rather fascinating to read where they were in life at the moment. I will continue with the series.

Man how I've missed Dex and Sloane. They're off on a new chapter working for TIN, but Dex's enthusiasm is undiminished. Hello, Chaos is so fitting as his code name. This time around their undercover work is taking them into a much darker place. They've been working for TIN for a few years now, but this will be their most challenging task to date, one that maybe they're not ready for.

This was a tough one on Dex. His mutation is still changing and for the first time he's put in a position where things aren't as easy as they have always been. Sure he's had to fight for what's right, but he's always come out on top. This story is a lot darker and takes Dex and Sloane into the underworld in a way even they weren't expecting.

I enjoyed this story a lot. I loved being back with all the cast of characters we've fallen in love with and there's some fantastic new editions to this one too. I can't wait for the next book to see what happens now with these guys. Their world is changing yet again and they've got a lot to figure out.

We’ve all been waiting so long for the return of Mr and Mr Daley 💕💕 and their new series TIN [it's no secret of course that Charlie's confidence and bank balance took a huge knock thanks to Dreamspinner Press and their misappropriation/theft of Author's money], that for me at least, it was a teeny, tiny bit anticlimactic. I won't say I was underwhelmed cos I wasn't, but new team, new series...things are bound to get better as the series progresses, right 🤔? 4.25 stars.

First things first. I personally don't like the cover...it looks dated [sorry Jaime Reese/Reese Dante], and the cover model is obviously younger than Dex and Sloane now 'are' in the story. Yes, both our boys are grown up, and are in their 40's [gulp, sigh], which makes me think...spies and spooks. Surely nowadays a younger man's game?

Anyhoo, that aside, this is a story about Therian trafficking, a possible end to all the PSTC nightmares that the guys have had to endure forever, and some disgustingly bigoted Humans trying to put those damned, pesky Therians back in their rightful place apparently...at the bottom of the evolutionary ladder [so not much has changed there then 🤨].

Overall, this is more serious. The language in this one is more grown-up, f-bombs are sparingly dropped into the story, nowhere near as much laughter and general silliness [although Dex's gummi bears and cheesy doodles do get several mentions 😉]. It's different but it's not...if that makes sense.

Final thing from me...as a storyline carried forward from the THIRDS series, Dex is evolving yet again, and his inner Felid seems to be far more scary than even he could imagine. A happy event takes place at the BBQ towards the end of the story, and Wolf fans?? A phone call made by Dex will make all the difference to a certain human piece of garbage 👍👍👍.

Book 2, Go Down in Flames, is already pre-ordered.

So I don't know if this is a popular opinion or not, but I'm really really happy with the new narrator for the TIN series going forward. Gary does SUCH a great job with accents, and there are a lot of them here, and having like....excitement and emotion in his voices that he uses. Honestly, I'd love hearing the whole THIRDS series from him too LOL

I loved the audio of this - some serious great banter and group moments that are so lively. LOL Dex at the bbq was so great. And most of all, I love seeing Dex and Sloane so solid and end game together, and how in sync they are now. They've come such a long way since the first THIRDS book.

I loved getting to catch up with everyone and see the whole gang. Loved the ending! I cannot wait for more of the TIN series.

Hurray! Dex and Sloane are back in the new spin-off series to Charlie Cochet’s fabulous THIRDs series. It’s been about four years in real time since the last of the main THIRDS series books was released, and four years in story time as well. Gone But Not Forgotten kicks off the TIN series, reuniting us with Dex, Sloane, and many other familiar characters. While Cochet does provide some background, as well as a glossary that identifies key players and terms, this is a shared world with THIRDS and readers of the original series are going to find this one much easier to follow. Some of our old THIRDS friends appear here as well, including Sebastian Hobbs, who is a major side character, and many other folks who make brief appearances. But if you wanted to give it a go and start here, there is probably enough background to get the basics.

I don't know what I expected...but It's not. I knew this, but the fact that everything I loved in thirds series was gone made me sad. their team, friendship, teamwork, humor, balance in a relatinship. I really loved Sloan's alphaness and his superior attitude, and the thing that Dex might be a human, a weaker one, but he could wrap his boss around his little finger. maybe I just wanted to know what it would be like without all of those. while I knew that It's for the undercover, the way Sloan was treated..It made me really uncomfortable. It's more darker than I expected. They're always mad, sad or angsty for something. and Dex's being far from human more and more. very ridiculous.I was just surprised that he didn't shift and mount Sloan so that he could boast his manhood. just... No. I'd rather think it's a another couple's story. think maybe I'm weird but soooo sad that this had to spoil my love of THIRDS and afraid that next book will do to the point where I can't read them anymore.

great ending

Could there be a more apt Codename for Dexter J. Daley than Chaos!! So glad there is more to come for Dex & Sloane, I enjoyed the storyline of Gone But Not Forgotten, but it was the ending and the possibility of what lies ahead for Dex that has me hooked on their new series as TIN operatives.
