The Hour of Separation tells a story of love, loss, and redemption. After finishing her degree at Cambridge, Emma Stevens is about to move back to California with Jon, the love of her life. Before they can build their future together in America, an accident tears them apart. Emma’s world changes forever when she is propelled back in time to the 19th century and finds herself alone in a dangerous and unforgiving London. Emma survives and discovers there are many ways to love.
Michelle got her start writing in a radio newsroom, but it wasn't until she lived in London completing her master's degree in print and online journalism that she decided to write a novel. A fan of Georgette Heyer and the Regency era, she wondered what life would really be like for a modern-day woman residing in Jane Austen's London. The Hour of Separation is the outcome of that curiosity.
If you are looking for a quick read, skip this one. But if you are up for the challenge this is a wonderful book. There is a graceful transition between past and present. Although the trilogy of love between best friends is a little thirsty. I was not thrilled with the ending. I mean, I loved the ending. It was how it was supposed to be, but maybe a little to wordy. End with a sweet kiss.
