When young Wesley was taken in by the Van Doorn family, he had no memory of life before “the docks.” They taught him three things...
Nothing comes before family.
Nothing comes before the family “business.”
There are no lengths they will not go to protect either.
As one of their own helps Wesley to find, and piece together fragments of his past, he exposes a filthy secret. One that will turn Amsterdam inside out to uncover the truth, if need be.
With a lucrative international contract on the line, the Van Doorns struggle to maintain supremacy, using any means necessary to outlast the other families. Not realizing that their greatest threat may come from within.
In a family shrouded in the shadows of lies and deceit, even the blackest sins can be uncovered...as long as you're not afraid to enter the darkness.
The second instalment in this series had my attention from the very beginning. I have one negative thing to say and it’s minute...as an Australian and mate being a word we use often I questioned whether it’s used widely in Amsterdam! It just felt odd for me but as I said that’s a personal and incredibly picky thing. This was a very good book and I can’t wait for the next instalment.
Wes has lots of unanswered questions about his life. Did he have a real family? If he did who were they? Why did they send home to the Skagen home for boys? He has no recollection of his life prior to being on the docks. We get the answers to all of these questions. Mason is dealing with Wes’s secret and Dean’s manipulation. He is torn between outing both Wes and his uncle to his father. With the Olsen’s coming back to Amsterdam for another meeting he decides to prove his worth.
Cliffhanger alert!!! You should read book 1 first but just be aware that this book also ends on a cliffhanger and book 3 is not available as of this post. This book continues where book 1 left off - Mason continues to be manipulated by Dean and isn’t sure if he should divulge Wes and Chloe’s relationship, Wes is struggling with new information about his past, Thom and Martin continue to support Wes. This book is written in first person POV (primarily Wes, but also Thom, Chloë and Mason). There are a few sexy scenes but they are secondary to the plot. There were a few more typos than in book 1. The book dragged a little and scenes from book one were recreated from a different character’s POV. Hope book 3 is released soon.
Wow. In this book you will learn a lot more about Wesley and how he grew up. I will not tell you about it because I want you to read this. I just pray that Chloe will find it in her heart to forgive him for not telling her who his adopted dad is. Looking forward to reading book 3 to see what happens next Enjoy this great book.
Wesley and Chloe are growing closer, Mason is growing angrier, and Dean is meaner. Wesley also learns the truth about his past. Thom and Martin are a great support for Wes
